Chapter 2033: The Stubbornness of the Soul Reaper
He did not know if Chen Yu could see him, so he stretched out his right hand, and another huge, new scythe appeared in his hand.
He thought everything just now was merely an accident; the ordinary person before him seemed to have some special abilities.
That was an accident, and his mission was to reap souls; he did not care about what happened around him, only focusing single-mindedly on dealing with the person before him who had already been sentenced to death.
He raised the brand-new scythe in his hand high, and continued to swing the scythe in his hand high toward the person on the hospital bed.
"Friend, why not change targets?" Chen Yu smiled.
"Are you talking to me?" The Soul Reaper slowly raised his head; there was not a trace of expression on his terrifying face.
Only his two eyes were filled with astonishment and disbelief.
There was actually someone in this world who could see him; since Chen Yu was talking to him now, then the fact that he had broken his scythe just now was not an accident.
He did it on purpose; the Soul Reaper felt it was incredible—in this world, there was actually someone who could provoke him?
"That's right, I am talking to you." Chen Yu nodded, and he said with a smile: "This person is a good man; you shouldn't take him into Hell."
"Heh, in our eyes, there is no distinction between good and evil. After they die, their souls enter Hell; this is an eternal, unchanging rule." The Soul Reaper laughed: "I am a messenger of Hell; I have no emotions, nor do I have the mood to understand what good deeds he has done."
"It is still different." Chen Yu shook his head and said: "A kind person, even if they enter Hell after death, they will certainly receive preferential treatment."
"Moreover, his merits do not allow him to die just like this."
"Isn't he dead now?" The Soul Reaper smiled slightly, revealing a mouthful of sharp, pointed teeth.
"That is why we have appeared." Xueli walked to Chen Yu's side and stared at the Soul Reaper: "Messenger from Hell, I, Xueli, the Saintess of the Pope, now formally notify you: you cannot take this person away."
The Soul Reaper turned his head, the expression on his face somewhat indifferent; he stared at Xueli for a good while, then he suddenly laughed: "Is that so? You are the Pope's Saintess Xueli?"
"Heh, no wonder I felt an unusual aura here earlier; so that is the reason you are here." The Soul Reaper muttered to himself: "What do you want to do? Stop me?"
"Yes, I came here specifically to stop you." Xueli nodded slightly.
"You should know the rules; matters of Hell are not under the jurisdiction of your masters. We are servants of Satan." The Soul Reaper grinned: "You have crossed the line."
"Perhaps I want to cross the line today?" Xueli smiled faintly, and she said leisurely: "But I do not want to fall out with you right now, so I want to talk to you."
"Talk about what? Letting this person go?" The Soul Reaper stared at Xueli.
"Yes, release the soul of this person; that is my only request." Xueli nodded slightly.
"I'm afraid that won't do." The Soul Reaper slowly raised his head, and he grinned, revealing his white, ghastly teeth: "This is my duty."
"My duty is to take away the souls of those who have died and send them into Hell; no one can be an exception."
"Now you ask me to let the person go; beautiful lady, do you think your proposal is realistic?"
"It is not realistic." Xueli shook her head and said: "That is why I have been talking to you, to see if we can reach an agreement, but unfortunately, we cannot."
"Then is there anything else to say?" The Soul Reaper raised his head: "Move aside; that is my only request. The reason I am not taking action is because you are a Saintess."
"We have regulations between us that we cannot attack the other side, but if you continue like this, then you will certainly not be able to bear the consequences."
"Oh, what consequences am I unable to bear?" Xueli raised her head and asked.
"That would be the wrath of Satan." The Soul Reaper raised his head and grinned: "He and your Pope have not had a conflict break out in a long time."
"His followers have also always followed the rules, but if this time you stop me from taking this person's soul, then you are making an enemy of Satan. Have you thought about what the consequences will be?"
"I have not thought about any consequences." Xueli said with a smile: "And the reason I came out this time was specifically to target you."
"What?" The Soul Reaper was slightly stunned; he did not quite understand the meaning of Xueli's words.
Just as he raised his head, he saw a lasso loop around his shoulders; this was a Holy Artifact specifically targeting Soul Reapers like them.
The scorching Holy Light immediately caused blue smoke to rise from the Soul Reaper's body; the sizzling sound made the Soul Reaper scream out.
"I said, release the soul of this innocent person and roll back to your Hell; do you not understand?" Xueli said coldly.
"Saintess, you are breaking the rules and destroying the balance between us; you will certainly not have a good end." The Soul Reaper hissed, white smoke continuously venting from his body.
He was enduring endless pain; all of this made him wish he were dead.
"That is my business." Xueli smiled slightly: "Are you not convinced?"
"Just you wait." The suit on the Soul Reaper's body suddenly fell away, and his body turned into an illusory shadow, quickly disappearing without a trace.
At the same time, his voice was still echoing: "Satan will view your actions as a declaration of war. Xueli, you had better look out for yourself."
"He ran?" Xueli's gaze paused slightly; she had not expected the Soul Reaper to have such an ability.
"He can't run; chase him." Chen Yu took a step, and his figure instantly vanished; Xueli followed closely behind.
In a secluded corner of the hospital, the Soul Reaper appeared.
He was panting heavily, but he already had a brand-new suit on his body; even though he had fled in a wretched state, he still had to maintain his image as a Soul Reaper.
"Saintess, I will remember today's events. I will issue a decree to the thousands upon thousands of Hell's messengers, and when that time comes, your human world will be reduced to Hell."
Lying on the ground for a long time, the Soul Reaper finally recovered; although he had escaped just now, he had paid a great price.
"Xueli, Saintess of the Pope, wait for the wrath of Hell." The messenger struggled to stand up, then waved the Death Scythe in his hand, intending to return to Hell.
However, to his horror, no matter how he waved the scythe or how he utilized his own Dark Power, he was unable to open the path to Hell.
"Impossible, this is absolutely impossible. What is going on? Why can I not open the entrance to Hell?" The Soul Reaper began to panic.
He frantically waved the scythe in his hand, but no matter what, he could not open the entrance.
