Chapter 955: The Innkeeper
"Mm." Yu Sichen's face flushed slightly, and the joy in her eyes could not be concealed no matter what.
Chen Yu took out a map and marked several red dots; these places were where the Buddhist Sect was distributed, belonging to different sects. He intended to visit them one by one to see if there were any Heart Sutras that could dispel the Demon deep within Yu Sichen's heart.
Afterwards, the two went to sleep. In the early hours of the morning, Chen Yu woke up abruptly; this was the innate sense of threat he possessed as a Dharma Cultivator, because he felt a trace of danger closing in on him.
At the same time, Yu Sichen also woke up. She said softly, "Brother Chen."
Chen Yu made a gesture for her to be quiet. Yu Sichen understood and nodded.
Bang, bang, bang—a series of knocks sounded outside, very heavy. Listening to the sound, it seemed as if a boisterous drunkard outside was pounding on the door incessantly.
"Who is outside?" Chen Yu shouted in a deep voice.
The person outside did not respond, just kept pounding on the door. Chen Yu walked forward and opened it.
He saw the innkeeper and his wife's foolish son standing outside, grinning. He was wearing a brand-new set of clothes, and a large red flower was pinned to his chest, looking just like the attire of a bridegroom from the old days.
"What are you here for?" Chen Yu stared at the kid, his expression displeased.
"Marry a bride, I want to marry a bride." The guy's simple-minded voice sounded a bit foolish, and his eyes were fixed straight on Yu Sichen inside the room, his eyes almost glowing.
"She is not your bride. Get out, or I won't be polite to you," Chen Yu said coldly.
This guy was indeed a normal person, but his brain had some issues. If not for this, Chen Yu would have slapped him away long ago.
"Bride, my mother said, anyone who smiles at me is willing to marry me." The fool stood to one side, saying this with stubborn conviction.
"If you don't get out now, I'm going to take action." Chen Yu's voice suddenly turned heavy. His hand moved, ready to strike and teach this fool a lesson.
It was true that he was a fool, but he couldn't just do whatever he wanted because of it. Did he have a certificate of mental illness?
A murderous aura surged from Chen Yu. At this moment, the innkeeper's wife ran out in a panic and said, "You brat, you're acting foolish again. Get out of here quickly! I'm sorry, Boss, my son has some problems with his intelligence. He didn't mean it. I promise he won't come again."
The innkeeper's wife pulled her son backward while saying, "Get out of here! If you dare to knock on the guests' room again, I'll beat you to death."
"Bride, the one who smiles at me is my bride." The fool was still smiling foolishly, saliva flowing from the corners of his mouth, and his eyes looked extremely terrifying.
The murderous aura on Chen Yu slowly dissipated. He turned back and said to Yu Sichen, "It's nothing, it was just that fool."
"That fool is their son, right? Is he truly foolish, or is there something wrong?" Yu Sichen said.
"It looks like he is truly foolish, but that innkeeper and his wife also have problems," Chen Yu said. "We'll make do here for the night and leave tomorrow, but from here on out, we will only be able to sleep in the open."
"As long as I'm with you, no matter how tired or bitter it is, I'm happy." Yu Sichen smiled faintly.
The two went to sleep again, but in the early hours of the morning, Chen Yu woke up with a start; there was movement outside.
Outside the door, a figure suddenly flashed by, and an extremely powerful force pressed in from outside. Chen Yu was startled; this force was incredibly vast, the likes of which he had only seen once in his life. His figure flickered, and he was already out the door.
This vast force vanished in a flash. When Chen Yu stepped outside, the force had inexplicably disappeared.
Chen Yu leaped onto the roof in a few strides. He sent his Divine Sense in all directions, sensing the force from just a moment ago, but to his surprise, the moment he climbed onto the roof, it vanished without a trace.
Chen Yu found it somewhat inconceivable. With his strength in the Primordial Qi Realm, while he wouldn't dare call himself the peak of this world, he was an existence that very few could surpass. Yet, this force came and went without a trace, making one feel that something was unusual.
Unable to sense that force, Chen Yu returned to the room, but when he returned, he couldn't help but be shocked—Yu Sichen was gone.
"Si Chen!" Chen Yu called out and rushed out of the room. This place clearly had problems.
Yu Sichen appeared in a deserted place. She had originally stood up to check after hearing an unusual sound, but before she could reach the door, she felt a wave of dizziness in her head. By the time she appeared, she was in this place.
Although most of Yu Sichen's strength was currently sealed, she could still handle some special situations. She looked around vigilantly.
She saw a light flare up nearby and realized she was in a room. The room was set with red candles and decorated with the character for "double happiness." Looking at the furnishings, it was like a wedding scene from the old days.
Yu Sichen did not know why she was here. She only felt her consciousness flicker, and then she arrived here. This was the real world, not a hallucination.
Just as she was at a loss, a hee-heeing laugh came from behind her. She turned around abruptly, only to see the innkeeper's foolish son standing behind her.
This fool was still wearing that brand-new robe, and a huge red flower hung on his chest. Looking at him, he was just like a bridegroom at a wedding scene from the old days.
"Bride, my bride has come." The fool laughed hee-hee, his saliva dripping down.
"What is this place? Why am I here?" Yu Sichen said sternly.
"Bride, the one who smiles at me is my bride." The fool did not answer Yu Sichen's question; he just laughed hee-hee and moved closer to Yu Sichen.
"If you dare to take another step forward, I won't be polite to you." A flash of killing intent passed through Yu Sichen's eyes. She was no longer the Yu Sichen of the past who could be bullied by anyone.
But the fool did not listen to her at all. He laughed hee-hee and continued to shuffle his feet forward.
Suddenly, Yu Sichen pointed her right hand, and a touch of cold air condensed into an ice thorn, striking the fool heavily. The fool couldn't help but cry out in pain. He hurriedly retreated a few steps, then turned his head and looked at Yu Sichen with an angry expression.
"My mother said, all women who smile at me are women who are willing to marry me. You smiled at me, so you have to marry me," the fool said angrily.
"Has your mother ever smiled at you?" Yu Sichen sneered.
"She has smiled at me." The fool thought for a moment and actually nodded earnestly.
"Then why didn't you let your mother marry you?" Yu Sichen retorted.
"This..." The fool's intelligence was not enough to handle this question. He stood there foolishly, not reacting for a long time, and then he said angrily, "She is my mother, she cannot get married. You are not, you can."
