Chapter 363: Is All I Think Evil?

~8 min read 1,510 words

The group discussed for an afternoon.

In the end they decided: if the good demons wish, they will be incorporated into the state system; if they do not, as long as they cause no unrest, they can simply stay where they are.

If they want to go abroad, that's fine; they can be sent free of charge to any foreign country.

Evil demons will be placed in the mountains and a special trial ground will be established.

In the future, human prodigies and Cultivators can enter to conduct trials and other activities.

Life or death depends entirely on one's own strength and connections.

As for that monkey demon Xiao Jin.

Since its nature is not bad, only a bit mischievous, it was taken as the first Demon Beast to be incorporated into the Civil Affairs Bureau.

When Diao Chan was traveling a few years ago, she casually gave it a pill; originally the pill was insufficient for Xiao Jin to become a demon, but Yu Lin managed to pull off such a trick.

Consider it lucky.

After the meeting ended.

Xiao Jin then shamelessly stuck to Diao Chan's side.

In this unfamiliar place, it met an acquaintance who was friendly to it, so of course it clung to the big leg!

The Civil Affairs Bureau had no objections, and Yu Lin was watching!

Nothing much happened afterward.

Until several months later.

Today.

Yu Lin didn't go anywhere, because today he was to go to Noah's era.

When the Dragon Lord and a few others logged out of the game, shut the Computer, and entered the Ding Pattern, he silently muttered:

"Enter."

Accompanied by a flash of WhiteLight, he vanished instantly.

【Mission: Noah's Ark】

【Mission: Cut down the tree in Eden Garden whose fruit was once eaten by Adam and Eve, and deliver it to Noah as the ark's Dragon Bone】

【Reward: Trait — Good and Evil】

In a forest.

The newly arrived Yu Lin, before he could step out of the forest to a crowded place, encountered an unpleasant incident.

"Kid, hand over all the money on you!"

"Boss, why waste words? Just kill him!"

"Yeah!"

The noisy shouting reached Yu Lin's ears.

He looked at the eight people before him, each holding a Long Sword, of varying ages, yet the greed and cruelty in their eyes seemed molded from the same mold.

Yu Lin's face showed not fear but a faint smile.

He obediently raised his hands, his tone carrying just the right amount of panic:

"No, don't kill me. I'll give you everything."

As he spoke, as if performing a trick, seven yellowish gold pieces materialized in his hand, shimmering temptingly in the dappled sunlight.

He said apologetically, "But I only have seven gold pieces here, and there are eight of you,"

"How can we split them?"

He slowly bent down, placed the seven gold pieces neatly on the ground before him, and then, in full cooperation, turned his pocket inside out to show he truly had nothing else.

The eight, upon seeing the gold, breathed a little heavier, the greedy glint in their eyes almost solidifying.

Seven gold pieces, eight people!

Without much thought, each instinctively moved forward to seize the advantage.

But, with a "Swish—" sound, the burly man at the front, the most massive, thrust his Long Sword into the ground before him; the blade quivered, humming, abruptly halting the other seven's restless steps.

The seven felt a chill, instinctively stepped back half a step, and muttered, "Boss, what's wrong?"

The burly man let out a cold snort, his gaze sweeping his subordinates with undeniable authority, and he pulled the Long Sword out in one motion:

"I'm the boss, so of course I take the biggest share!" he pointed at the gold on the ground:

"Seven gold pieces, I want four! The remaining three, you split yourselves!"

This statement made the other seven's faces instantly turn a kaleidoscope of colors—shock, discontent, anger interwoven—but constrained by the burly man's usual authority and the gleaming blade, they muttered a few times, ultimately dared not directly contradict, only lowered their heads, insincerely agreeing:

"Yes, yes, boss, you take more, you take more..."

Seeing no one dare oppose, the burly man hummed contentedly, then turned his head back to Yu Lin, his face showing a feral grin:

"Kid, we want the gold, but you also..."

He stopped mid-sentence, his eyes suddenly bulging—"Hm? Where are the people?!"

Only the seven gold pieces still lay quietly where Yu Lin had stood, as if silently mocking them.

"Damn, you got away fast!" the burly man cursed, his attention instantly captured entirely by the gold on the ground.

He strode forward, bent down to scoop his four gold pieces into his arms.

However, at the instant he bent, his back exposed,

the seven behind him exchanged glances in an instant, a suppressed greed and ruthlessness exploding fully.

"Puff—!"

Several Long Swords simultaneously plunged into the burly man's body from behind!

The burly man let out a painful groan, reacted swiftly, turned, and with his remaining strength swung a reverse slash, cutting the nearest, most aggressive attacker, sending him flying, seemingly doomed!

But he himself was already too weak to continue; a massive wound in his abdomen bled profusely, his life force draining rapidly.

He clutched his wound, staggered backward, stared in disbelief at his former subordinates, and growled low:

"You… you dare… betray me? You…"

Fresh blood stained the ground beneath his feet; the strong man finally could not hold on, collapsed heavily to the ground, his eyes wide open, filled with resentment and anger.

The remaining six sneered and closed in.

"Boss, don't blame us; if you must blame someone, blame your greed!"

"Exactly! Still want the four pieces? Do you really think we're made of mud?"

"Kill him, and his money and women will all be ours!"

In the strong man's dilated pupils, the reflection was six machetes falling together onto his corpse!

Having eliminated the greatest threat, the six turned their gaze back to the seven gold pieces soaked in blood.

The scene fell into an eerie silence; the earlier "tacit understanding" in fighting together vanished instantly, replaced by deep mutual vigilance and suspicion.

No one dared to move first, fearing that the moment they bent down they'd become the next ambushed target.

The air was thick with the scent of blood and a tense atmosphere.

Finally, one of them could no longer restrain his greed for the gold and roared, breaking the stalemate: "You don't dare take it, I do!"

He surged forward violently, moving extremely fast, not to share but to snatch three of the largest gold pieces, and without looking back, sprinted into the forest depths.

However, after fewer than ten steps, a "whoosh" rang sharply through the air!

A poison arrow, its origin unknown, struck his back of the heart with precision!

His body went rigid, collapsed to the ground, twitched twice, then fell silent.

This cold arrow was like the final fuse ignited.

"Damn it! Want to hog it all?!"

"Kill him!"

"The gold is mine!"

A melee erupted instantly! The remaining five, fighting for the leftover gold and any possible valuables on each other's bodies, crazily slashed at each other.

Curses, clashing of weapons, the sound of blades cutting flesh, and dying wails rose and fell, composing a dirge of greed and death in the silent forest.

After an unknown amount of time, all sounds subsided.

Only a middle‑aged man, his body covered in scars, leaning on a knife to stay upright, remained.

He gasped heavily, his body bearing several deep wounds that exposed bone, and the blood almost turned him into a blood‑soaked corpse.

Yet he stared at the few gold pieces still gleaming alluringly in the blood pool; greed in his eyes nearly overflowed, and a twisted, ecstatic grin spread across his face.

"All… it's all mine!" he croaked, his voice trembling from excitement and his wounds, "Hahaha! I…"

"Who says it's yours?"

A calm voice suddenly rang out, cutting his ecstasy short.

The middle‑aged man's smile froze, and he abruptly turned his head.

He saw Yu Lin, who at some unknown time had been leisurely sitting on the trunk of a large tree not far away; now he lightly leapt down and walked slowly toward the blood‑soaked area.

His clothing was as clean as new, starkly contrasting the surrounding carnage.

Looking at the bodies and blood covering the ground, and then at the lone remaining man, completely consumed by greed, he seemed to understand something and whispered softly:

"All my thoughts all day are evil, the ground is filled with violence…"

"So that's how it is."

"Hmm, I also blame myself for probing hearts, fine, I'm leaving."

He waved his hand, and the gold in the man's hand vanished instantly.

But he also did not strike the man.

Because the man's injuries no longer required him to act.

As Yu Lin took a few steps forward.

From behind came the sound of bodies collapsing; this band of robbers was completely annihilated.
