Chapter 369: The Giantess
After several days of fruitless searching, Luoer leaned against the wall corner with a defeated expression and said to Yu Lin:
"Looks like there's no trace of Noah here either; we have to try our luck elsewhere."
Yu Lin nodded, tossed a few berries he was fiddling with into his mouth, and said calmly, "When we were gathering information earlier, didn't someone say that about a day's walk westward there's a new city?"
"Do we set off now, or do you want to rest a day before leaving?"
Luoer sprang to their feet, brushed the dust off their trousers, and said, "Either works, it's up to you."
"Then today," Yu Lin turned and, without hesitation, headed toward the West City Gate, with Luoer hurrying to follow.
As they reached the gate and were about to leave the city, a sudden rapid and heavy clatter of horse hooves echoed on the narrow road ahead.
In the distance, two unusually tall, robust black steeds with single horns on their heads galloped toward them, each about twice the size of a normal modern horse, muscles bulging and bearing an extraordinary vigor.
The carriage followed, and atop it stood a figure—a female giant about three meters tall, slender yet exuding cheetah-like power, her face bearing a wild, heroic air.
Seeing someone blocking the way, she barked without courtesy, "Move aside!"
Yu Lin and Luoer, adhering to the principle that fewer complications are better, silently stepped to the sides of the road, preparing to let the convoy pass first.
However, as the carriage passed them, the giantess's gaze swept over Yu Lin's side face hidden by his hood, and a startling brilliance flashed in her eyes.
"Huh—!" she shouted, yanking the reins sharply, causing the horned black horse to rear and halt steadily.
Immediately after, with a "bang", she leapt down from the high carriage, the heavy thud making the ground tremble slightly.
Under the puzzled stare of nearby pedestrians, she strode swiftly toward Yu Lin and Luoer and asked, "You, what's your name?"
Luoer stepped forward instantly, shielding Yu Lin, and replied cautiously,
"I am Luoer. What do you have..."
"I'm not asking you," the giantess cut him off bluntly, her gaze never lingering on him, adding disdainfully,
"You're not good-looking."
Luoer: "...... you ****, I ***...."
The giantess ignored his insults, simply extended her massive hand and pushed them aside, refocusing her gaze on Yu Lin.
Seeing the jawline and thin lips revealed beneath his hood, she even licked her lips and exclaimed, "Truly... such a beautiful man!"
As she spoke, she even crouched her towering frame, trying to see Yu Lin's hidden entirety.
Luoer, angered by her action, darted again to block Yu Lin, lowering his voice to warn,
"What are you doing to my employer?!"
Repeatedly thwarted, the giantess's smile vanished instantly, replaced by obvious impatience.
She raised her hand to push Luoer again, "Step aside, don't block me. I have no time to punish you now; later, don't make me unhappy... okay?"
She exerted force, but found she couldn't move Luoer at all; instead, a recoil force from them pushed her hand back!
"You've got some strength," the giantess said, a hint of surprise on her face.
In fact, Luoer himself was astonished, because he hadn't used any force at all!
"Strange, why did I suddenly become stronger?" he suppressed his doubt, knowing it wasn't the time to investigate, and stepped forward again.
Even though he had to look up, his demeanor remained strong as he said to the already standing giantess, "Sorry, my employer doesn't seem to want to meet you right now."
"Move aside, we have business to attend to."
The giantess heard his blunt words, and instead of anger, she grinned, flashing dazzling white teeth, "Fine, I won't block you from working."
Unexpectedly, she stepped aside, making a "please" gesture.
"Please."
She actually let them pass? Though Luoer was doubtful, the chance was rare; he immediately signaled Yu Lin, and the two swiftly crossed past the giantess, hurrying toward the road outside the city.
However, Luoer's relief didn't last long; behind them, the irritating clatter of hooves and wheels sounded again.
He turned back, instantly furious, and shouted,
"You mother— didn't you say you wouldn't block us? Why are you chasing us now?!"
The giantess, driving the carriage, trailed a few steps behind at an unhurried pace, her face bearing a defiant "What can you do to me?" expression, "I truly didn't block you,"
She shrugged, "But I happen to need this road now; won't you let me pass?"
Speaking, her gaze passed Luoer and landed on Yu Lin, her voice rising with unmistakable flirtation, "Hey! That handsome man over there! Get in my carriage! I'll give you a ride! It'll be far faster than walking yourself!"
She paused, gave Luoer a sideways glance, and added, "Of course, only you may board; that ugly freak beside you stays out."
"..............."
Luoer, gritted their teeth in anger at her words and muttered a few curses under their breath, but the giantess completely ignored their fury, stubbornly keeping the carriage a few steps behind them, impossible to shake off.
By late afternoon, as dusk settled, Yu Lin and Luoer stopped beside a gentle hillside and decided to camp there for the night.
The giantess who had followed them all the way also, unsurprisingly, halted her horned black horse a short distance away and efficiently built a campfire.
The fire crackled as the night deepened, casting an oddly quiet atmosphere, with only the pop of burning wood and faint howls of unknown beasts in the distance.
Suddenly, Yu Lin spoke, his voice breaking the silence:
"What's your name?"
Seated opposite him, Luoer, who had been fiddling with the fire, looked up at the words, a hint of bewilderment on their face:
"Huh? I'm Luoer, Yu Lin..."
"Fool," the giantess's voice, laced with unabashed mockery, came from the nearby fire, cutting off Luoer's words:
"He was asking about me."
She gave Luoer no chance to retort, her eyes, brightened by the firelight, stared directly at Yu Lin with unabashed admiration and enthusiasm:
"Your name is Yu Lin? That's a lovely name. I'm Bei."
She gestured at the firelight dancing on her heroic, wild face, speaking directly and passionately,
"Yu Lin, be with me! I'll share my food, my shelter, my mount, everything I have with you!"
"Just like Adam and Eve!"
"I oppose!"
Without waiting for Yu Lin to speak, Luoer immediately voiced opposition, leapt up abruptly, just as he was about to refuse for Yu Lin.
Suddenly.
Awo!
Wolf howls rose!
Pairs of dark‑red eyes opened from the darkness, accompanied by the wolf howls.
The wolf pack appeared in the three's sight!
