Chapter 495: Jupiter, Be My Son
Rome, Mount Olympus.
Yu Lin stood beneath the towering, mist‑shrouded foot of the mountain.
The mountain's shape and aura were almost identical to the Olympus of Greece in his memory, as if the same grand blueprint were painted twice on different canvases.
He followed the path to the Divine Realm from his recollection, stepping upward.
The scenery on either side of the road exuded a familiar strangeness, like revisiting an old place yet knowing this "old place" was no longer that "old place."
At the end of the path, the boundary of space quietly blurred.
One step forward, the surroundings opened brightly—it was the Roman‑styled Olympus Divine Realm.
Almost the moment Yu Lin's feet touched the cloud‑filled "ground" of the Divine Realm—
Screech—!
A high, resonant horse whinny rang out from the lofty heavens!
Yu Lin looked up and saw a dazzling golden light slash the Divine Realm's sky, like a second sun descending!
The golden light rushed forward, revealing a splendid chariot drawn by four Divine Steeds wreathed in golden flame and bearing twin wings!
The chariot seemed forged entirely of pure gold and light; as its wheels turned, specks of starlight and warm glows scattered.
It was the Sun Chariot of the Sun God Apollo!
The Sun Chariot steadied a short distance before Yu Lin, its radiance slightly dimming.
From the chariot, two figures stepped down.
First was a tall, handsome young deity.
He bore golden short hair that shone like sunlight, a flawless handsome face, wore a simple yet elegant white short robe over golden light armor—he was Apollo.
He was almost identical to the Greek Apollo of the same name and appearance.
Apollo wore a friendly smile, stepped forward, and offered Yu Lin a standard greeting salute:
"Honored guest from afar, I am Apollo, sent by the God King to welcome you. The God King has learned of your arrival and wishes to meet you; please follow me to the Divine King's Palace."
In Roman mythology, many deities have names different from their Greek originals, but Apollo is an exception—he is called Apollo in both Greek and Roman.
Beside Apollo stood a goddess.
She stood tall, clad in a silver‑gray battle skirt and breastplate, her helm adorned with olive branches and owl motifs; her brows resembled those of the Greek Athena, though subtle differences remained.
The goddess also stepped forward and saluted Yu Lin:
"Welcome to Olympus, esteemed guest; I am Minerva, representing the Roman Pantheon, and welcome your arrival."
Minerva, held in high esteem within the Roman divine hierarchy, was originally worshipped as one of the Capitoline Triad (Jupiter, Juno, Minerva) and serves as the patron of craftsmen, scholars, and artists.
Although later syncretism merged her divinity with the Greek Athena in many aspects, her origins and certain traits remain distinct.
Facing these two chief deities with friendly demeanor, Yu Lin returned a smile and nodded:
"Thank you both for the welcome, please."
Having said so, he naturally followed Apollo and Minerva onto the radiant Solar War Chariot.
Apollo gave a light tug on the reins; the four Divine Steeds spread their wings and rose, pulling the chariot toward the highest point of the Divine Realm, toward the most magnificent Divine King's Palace Hall.
Yu Lin stood beside the carriage pole, feeling the gentle Divine Realm breeze, then turned his head toward Apollo steering the chariot and asked casually:
"Apollo, I have a question to ask."
"Please speak," Apollo said, his gaze still fixed ahead, ears attentive.
"Do you know that in another realm there is a god also called Apollo, who looks almost exactly like you and holds a similar divine office?" Yu Lin asked, referring to the Greek Apollo.
Upon hearing this, Apollo's handsome face showed no surprise, but rather a knowing expression as if, "I expected you to ask this."
He paused briefly, still staring forward, and answered calmly:
"I know."
Yu Lin pressed further: "Then what is your relationship? Brothers? Clone? Or something else?"
Apollo's mouth twitched ever so slightly, then he said slowly:
"In a sense… he is me, I am him; we could be regarded as one, our origin points to the same—Light."
"Theoretically, we could choose to Merge into One, returning to a more complete Source."
"But… I don't want to."
He said the last three words very lightly.
"Oh—" Yu Lin elongated his tone, a look of sudden realization on his face, and nodded.
"I see, no wonder I felt you aren't as strong among the gods; it's because you're not in a complete form."
Apollo: "........"
His handsome profile seemed to stiffen for a moment.
Yu Lin's remark was a needle‑sharp insight, striking at the essence.
The split state indeed, to some extent, weakens each one's power ceiling and the completeness of their divinity.
Moreover, before Yu Lin now, even a Full Version Apollo might not be able to defeat him.
He could not refute, only remained silent, focusing on steering the chariot.
Yu Lin, seeing his silence, smiled and did not continue to entangle the god in this awkward topic.
He turned to the quietly standing Minerva on the other side, curiosity on his face, and asked:
"Minerva, I also have a question for you."
Minerva turned her gaze: "Please speak."
"Your Roman God King Jupiter…" Yu Lin blinked, his tone tinged with a bit of gossip curiosity:
"Is he as lecherous as Zeus?"
Minerva: "........"
No, can this be asked directly?
Hmm… given his position, he seems… indeed can be asked directly.
Minerva fell into a brief silence.
She chose the safest response—remaining silent, as if she hadn't heard the question.
Yu Lin, seeing this, let out an understanding "oh", nodded to himself, and his face showed a "I get it" expression:
"Hmm, not speaking is an acknowledgment; I understand."
He then, with exaggerated seriousness, added another line, as if preparing for his next move:
"When I see him later, I'll be a bit more careful."
Minerva: "………………".
The atmosphere fell into silence.
Fortunately, this part of the journey isn't long.
The magnificent Divine King's Palace is already in sight.
The Solar War Chariot steadily landed on the spacious Temple Plaza before the Divine King's Palace.
Yu Lin had just stepped off the chariot with Apollo and Minerva, his feet not yet steady on the plaza—
A voice as loud as thunder, like a thunderclap, Boom— rang out from the palace's open gilded gates, instantly echoing across the entire plaza:
"Yu Lin! As my…"
"Jupiter, be my son!"
"......... How did you phrase my line?"
"Getting the first move is stronger~"
