Chapter 528
In front of the White House.
Several security personnel in black suits were scattered at the entrance, their gazes alertly scanning the surroundings.
Further away, several black SUVs were parked silently, windows tightly shut, vague silhouettes of people sitting inside could be seen.
Yu Lin stood outside the main door, looked up at the tightly closed gate.
"What are we doing here?" Su Shan Na withdrew her gaze, turned her head to look at him, her green eyes hinting at speculation, "Are you intending to wipe them all out in one fell swoop?"
Yu Lin shook his head.
"No." he said, "Let's go."
He stepped forward, walking toward the White House main gate.
Su Shan Na froze for a moment, then hurried to catch up.
Two minutes later.
They were already inside the White House.
No security check, no questioning, no showing of any identification.
The security personnel stationed at the entrance glanced over them, then looked away, as if they saw only two ordinary White House staff.
Occasionally, people in professional attire hurried past in the corridor, no one giving them a second glance.
Su Shan Na's brows furrowed slightly.
She certainly knew this was no coincidence.
Those guards—including the cultivators she sensed hidden in the shadows—
not one reacted to their presence.
It was as if they had truly become invisible.
Surely it was Yu Lin's doing.
She thought.
The corridor was long, with portraits of past presidents hanging on the walls, beneath their feet lay polished marble inlay that shone like a mirror.
After turning two corners, they passed through a door guarded by special agents.
Those people even turned slightly aside as they passed, as if making way for someone.
The door to the President's Office lay ahead.
A dark solid wood door, heavy and tightly shut, its handle polished to a mirror shine.
Yu Lin's steps stopped before the door.
Su Shan Na followed suit, stopping and looking at him.
A hint of amused surprise appeared on Yu Lin's face.
Su Shan Na exclaimed in surprise, "What's wrong? Is there a problem inside?"
"No." Yu Lin said, the corner of his mouth slightly lifting, "There's an acquaintance."
He raised his hand and pushed the door open directly.
The sound of the door being shut burst out instantly.
"This matter isn't impossible to handle, it's just a bit difficult."
Then came a voice, full of vigor, yet with a sort of eager-to-please tone.
"Heavenly Gang True Person, I can add more money!" that voice continued, speaking quickly:
"I, President of Te Li Pu, don't have much else—just lots of money! If you want anything else, I'll do my best to get it for you!"
Yu Lin's gaze swept past the open door and fell upon the interior of the President's Office.
Behind the large desk, President of Te Li Pu sat in the signature high-backed chair, his blond hair neatly combed, his tie knotted properly, yet his expression was nothing like that of a head of state.
He resembled more a nouveau riche chasing after a coveted item at an auction.
Opposite the desk, a high-backed chair faced away from the door, only a hand resting on its armrest visible, fingers trembling slightly.
The voice came from within the chair, carrying a weary annoyance at being pestered:
"Oh dear… this… I, a humble Daoist, am not this sort of person…"
"You don't want a place to cultivate, do you?" President of Te Li Pu interjected eagerly, "I have a small island under my name! I'll give it to you!"
The fingers of that hand in the chair paused for a moment.
"Well… well…" the voice clearly wavered, "Alright, fine, I'll make an exception this once and take a look for you—"
Before the words could finish,
"Pfft—!"
A blood arrow shot out from behind the chairback, drenching President of Te Li Pu's expectant face from head to toe.
President of Te Li Pu was completely dumbfounded.
He froze in the chair, warm blood smeared on his face, eyes bulging like brass bells, mouth open wide enough to fit a golf ball.
"Heavenly Gang True Person!" he finally reacted, his voice cracking:
"You, you're vomiting blood? What's wrong with you?!"
The chair shook violently.
A hand reached out from behind the chairback, trembling as it pointed at him.
"You… you damn…" the voice, thin as a sigh, yet brimming with furious resentment:
"Who the hell have you offended?!"
President of Te Li Pu bewildered: "What? Who?"
"Before I became an immortal, vomiting blood from fortune‑telling and face‑reading was tolerable," the voice continued, each word squeezed out with the last of its strength:
"And now that I've become an immortal, I still—"
Another mouthful of blood.
"You motherfucker, who the hell did you offend?!"
"\"I... \" Te Li Pu was just about to speak.
"Yuan Daozhang."
A calm voice interrupted him.
The voice wasn't loud, but it pierced clearly into everyone's ears.
"What a coincidence."
Yu Lin strode into the office, his smile gentle.
"Crossing the seas, and still able to see you."
The chair snapped around.
It revealed a face that Yu Lin knew all too well.
Yuan Tiangang.
At this moment he was slumped in the chair, his complexion as pale as paper, the front of his Dao robe stained in a mess of fresh blood.
The instant he saw Yu Lin, the expression on his face shifted from terror to sudden realization.
Finally it settled into a sense of "so it was indeed so" relief.
"No wonder..." he murmured, blood still dripping from his lips, "No wonder..."
He took a deep breath and forced a smile toward Yu Lin:
"I, the humble monk..."
He rolled his eyes.
"I'm fainting."
Then his whole body tipped to the side, completely losing consciousness.
Yu Lin stood where he was, watching him collapse, unmoving.
Su Shan Na stood behind Yu Lin, glanced at the fainted Yuan Tiangang, then at the calm‑faced Yu Lin, and finally fixed her gaze on Te Li Pu.
Te Li Pu's hand was reaching toward the space beneath the desk.
There was a red button there; pressing it would summon the master who protected him.
His fingertip was less than five centimeters from the button.
Even so, even if he called all the masters in America, it would be of no use.
Yu Lin's gaze fell on him.
"Don't recognize me?"
"Hm?"
Upon hearing that, Te Li Pu's frantic heart suddenly thumped.
He fixed his eyes and looked.
What a fellow.
Even more doomed!
That face, that smile, those eyes—how could he not recognize them!
The invitation he himself signed, stamped, and sent out back then was exactly for this person!
He invited him, but he didn't come.
Now he himself has come.
Suddenly appearing in his office.
While he was privately contacting a "master".
When he was sprayed with a faceful of blood.
Countless thoughts flashed through Te Li Pu's mind, each more desperate than the last.
He dared not ponder further; the consequences were too terrifying.
Although his fingertip was now only two centimeters from that red button, he no longer had the courage to press it.
He trembled as he stood up.
His knees went weak, almost sitting back down.
But he forced himself to stay upright.
He inhaled deeply, plastering a smile uglier than crying on his face.
"You, why did you suddenly arrive?" his voice trembled, even he couldn't control it, "We originally thought you wouldn't come, so... so we didn't prepare a reception Ritual..."
"Enough, no need for idle talk," Yu Lin cut him off.
Te Li Pu's voice abruptly stopped.
Yu Lin stepped forward, walked around the massive desk, and sat on the presidential chair that symbolized America's power, the very chair Te Li Pu had just been sitting on.
The chair tilted back slightly, emitting a faint creak.
He crossed his legs, hands folded on his knees, staring at the president of a nation standing before him.
That gaze was calm, yet made cold sweat pour down Te Li Pu's back.
"I came here," Yu Lin began, "not to punish you."
Te Li Pu was stunned for a moment.
"Ah?"
"These matters will naturally be handled by others."
Te Li Pu's mind raced rapidly.
Other people? What other people? But he didn't dare ask.
He just kept nodding, struggling to keep the smile on his face, although that smile had already stiffened like a mask.
Yu Lin looked at him.
"Do you know? Your people have all been infiltrated?"
Te Li Pu's movement paused for a moment.
Then he nodded.
"I know."
Yu Lin raised an eyebrow.
"Huh? You know?"
"I had sensed something off a long time ago; they were hiding in the dark, I didn't know exactly who, so… so I went along with them on the surface, while actually messing around."
"Unexpectedly, you're quite smart."
