Chapter 634: Your Mission Is Complete

~7 min read 1,257 words

Vidar was the first sent away by Yu Lin, taking the other surviving Gods to Asgard.

And the Law Glass Spheres of Thor and the other dead deities.

Thus Asgard was the first to show signs of activity.

The Hall of Heroic Spirits rose from the ruins.

It was not rebuilt, but regrew from the branches of the World Tree, like a flower pushing up from the soil, like a leaf unfurling from a branch.

The cracks in the colonnades healed, the holes in the dome were patched, Silver Vine Flowers sprouted from the gaps in the stone steps, their petals still bearing dew.

The great doors of the Hall of Heroic Spirits opened again, the long tables were laden with goblets, the roast meat sizzled as if it had never been burned by flame.

On the dome, the murals depicting the Gods' splendor reappeared, vivid in color, crisp in line, every detail lifelike.

Vidar placed the glass sphere upon the Supreme Throne.

Then came the surviving Vana Gods.

The dense forest of Vanaheim grew back.

The trees reduced to ash by flame sprouted fresh, tender green shoots from the soil, trembling slightly in the wind.

The rivers flowed again, the water clear enough to see the pebbles and swimming fish beneath.

Fuleiya's garden burst into bloom again, the roses, lilies, and daisies she had planted herself opening one after another, their petals still wet with dew.

The cat she kept had somehow returned, perched on the garden wall, licking its paws, squinting in the sun, while the air was scented with flowers and honey.

The moonlight of Alfheim shone again.

The elves emerged from their hidden caves, stood beneath the moonlight, and looked up at the silvery glow they had thought they would never see again.

Their skin glimmered faintly in the moonlight, their eyes sparkling like stars.

They began to dance, steps light as falling leaves, as flowing water, as dandelion seeds blown by the wind.

Their steps made no sound, only the moonlight turned with them.

Jotunheim's glaciers refroze.

The ice peaks that had been washed away by flood rose again, taller, steeper, and colder than before.

Wind swept over the glaciers, carrying snowflakes that stung the face.

The Frost Giants stood at the foot of the mountain, watching the ice peaks that had grown anew.

They had lost many of their kin, many relatives, many friends.

Yet the glaciers remained, and Jotunheim remained.

A young giant bent down, scooped a handful of snow from the ground, pressed it to his forehead, and closed his eyes.

The snow melted slowly in his palm, droplets sliding down his fingers to the ground, forming new ice.

Musi Beierheim's flames quieted.

The once‑raging, all‑consuming flames became tame, no longer spreading or devouring everything.

They burned quietly in the crater, flowed slowly in the lava river, and pulsed within the Fire Giant's body like a heartbeat.

A Fire Giant crouched beside him, gathering the scattered flames piece by piece and returning them to the crater.

The mine tunnels of Svartalfheim lit up with firelight again.

The dwarves crawled out of the ruins, brushed off the ash, grabbed hammers and chisels, and entered the mine.

The iron hammer struck the iron anvil, clanging, sparks flying everywhere.

They forged new weapons, new tools, new implements.

A dwarf deity sat before the furnace, holding the Glass Beads in its hand,

placing the Glass Beads into the furnace, awaiting the day they would take shape.

Heerhaimu's Golden Bridge was repaved.

It was made by Haila herself.

After all, she thought it looked quite nice.

As for the others................

Her subordinates will handle it; she only needs to take part to show her intention.

Compared to all this.

She would rather have another candlelit dinner with Yu Lin.

As for Nidehuoge............. Nifu'er Haimu.

He had originally planned to run away.

But Yu Lin caught him and gave him a lesson of "gratitude" with his fist.

He then stayed here obediently, becoming a laborer.

What could he say?

He couldn't beat Yu Lin, so he could only endure.

Thus.

Every world is reviving. Every world is becoming whole again.

Darkness recedes bit by bit, and light returns bit by bit.

Those once burned by flame, washed away by flood, devoured by darkness are all slowly recovering.

But it is not enough.

One world is still missing.

Midejierte.

the Human World.

The blizzard finally ceased.

Enna stood at the doorway, looking at the sky.

A slit tore open in the cloud layer, narrow and fine, as if someone had drawn a knife across the gray sky.

Light leaked from the slit, falling on the snow, golden and bright.

He had never seen such light before.

It was not winter's light, that pale, weak light that gives no warmth when it falls on you.

This was spring's light, warm and bright, like a hand gently resting on a person's shoulder.

It was the light Yu Lin brought when he left.

Because time had lost its meaning, he also did not know how long Yu Lin had actually been gone.

At least, his family was still alive.

They had survived this disaster!

Ying Ge ran out of the house, stood beside him, tilted her head up, and looked at the slit.

She wore a new garment made from the cloth Ge Fu had given her.

The clothes were a bit big; she had rolled up the sleeves twice and widened the collar, revealing her slender collarbone.

She didn't care about that; she simply stood in the snow, head tilted up, gazing at the light.

Alf rose from beside the woodpile, axe still in hand.

Xi Ge Li De lifted her head from the stove, wiping her hands on her apron, and walked to the doorway.

The whole family stood at the doorway, looking at the sky.

Because today was somehow different.

The slit grew wider and wider.

More and more light poured in, as if someone had dumped a bucket of gold dust from the heavens, scattering it everywhere.

The cloud layer began to dissipate, melting away like ice under sunlight, gradually thinning, crumbling, and vanishing.

The blue sky emerged, truly pure, like blue washed clean many times over.

Then they saw it.

A figure walked over from the horizon.

Step by step, he trod on the clouds, on the light, on the dissipating snow mist.

His robes fluttered in the wind; with each step, darkness retreated a step.

With each step, daylight advanced an inch.

The sky behind him was blue; where he passed, sunlight showered down onto the snow, the accumulated snow began to melt, drip, drip, like countless tiny pendulums.

Ying Ge recognized him.

She ran out from the doorway, stepping in the snow.

The snow was deep, past her calves; her new clothes got soaked by snowmelt, the sleeves wet halfway, but she didn't care.

She ran and ran, running toward the figure approaching from afar.

"Yu Lin!" she shouted, her voice carrying far across the empty snowfield, "Yu Lin!"

Yu Lin stopped, lowered his head, and looked at her.

Ying Ge ran up to him, panting, her cheeks frozen red, her eyes shining like two stars.

She tilted her head up, looked at him, and asked, "What did you go do?"

Yu Lin bent down, looked at her bright, sparkling eyes, and smiled:

"Didn't I say I was going to bring the light back for you?"

"Didn't I lie to you?"

"Mm!"

Ying Ge hugged his thigh, saying:

"Is your mission completed?"

"Huh?"
