Chapter 633: Reviving the World Tree

~7 min read 1,331 words

As Yu Lin paused fate.

The entire Vigrid Plain, the whole burning Asgard, the whole collapsing Nine Realms.

All halted at this moment.

Vidar stood beside Fenliru's corpse, drenched in blood, panting heavily.

His iron boot pressed on a wolf's lower jaw, the sole still embedded with wolf bone fragments.

Looking at Yu Lin, the blood‑smeared face showed no expression.

Haila stood in the distance, her eyes flashing in the darkness.

Beside her stood a few surviving Frost Giants and the dead, all watching Yu Lin.

Shierte stood beside the World Tree, his flame sword still raised in his hand, the fire still burning.

Within their gaze, Yu Lin lifted his right hand, his five fingers slightly spread.

At the instant he raised his hand, all the scattered laws—those emanating from the dead Gods, flowing from shattered weapons, flying out of collapsing palaces, surging from the charred fissures of the earth—

All halted!

"Gather."

A single word.

The laws seemed to hear the command and surged toward him at once!

They surged forward, like a hundred rivers returning to the sea, like ten thousand birds returning to the forest, like countless lights, long bound, finally finding direction!

Golden, silver, dark‑red, deep‑blue, emerald, violet‑black—light strands of countless hues converged from all directions, spiraling, intertwining, and coiling above Yu Lin's head, forming a massive light vortex!

The vortex spun, contracted, and condensed.

Each strand represented a law, each law once a part of a god.

Thor's "Thunder," Fulei's "Bounty," Hai Mu Da Er's "Guard," Loki's "Deception" and "Flame," Fenliru's "Devour"..............

Even the lingering wills of those ancient gods long dead and forgotten were gathered in that instant!

A speck of light glowed in Yu Lin's palm.

The light was faint, like a star about to extinguish.

But as the strands kept pouring in, it grew brighter and larger, expanding from grain‑size to pigeon‑egg size, then from pigeon‑egg size to fist size.

It spun, condensed, and metamorphosed.

The vortex spun faster and smaller, finally becoming a dazzling pillar of light that shot from Yu Lin's palm straight into the heavens!

The pillar pierced the darkness, the ash, and the collapsing dome!

Allowing all survivors to glimpse it!

Until the pillar faded.

Another object appeared in Yu Lin's palm.

A glass bottle, small enough to fit in his hand.

The bottle was transparent, its material indiscernible, like crystal, yet like some solidified light.

Inside were countless beads of varying sizes, each glowing.

The silver‑white bead contained the faint silhouette of a hammer—Thor's.

The dark‑red bead held a broken sword—TiEr's.

The emerald bead contained an antler—Fulei's... and the interwoven dark‑red and black bead, Loki's.

There were also innumerable smaller beads, each bearing a law, each law once a part of a god!

Yu Lin lifted the bottle to his eyes, examined it, then slipped it into his pocket.

Vidar opened his mouth to speak, but only a hoarse breath escaped his throat.

Haila opened her mouth as well, then closed it.

Her eyes fixed on Yu Lin's pocket, on the bottle holding the residual laws, as if she guessed something.

"Enough."

Yu Lin turned, looking at Vidar, at Haila, at the surviving Frost Giants and the dead, at the ruins still ablaze.

"From here on, leave it to me."

Having said that, he didn't wait for anyone's response, turned, and walked toward the World Tree.

His stride remained the same, neither hurried nor slow, step by step.

His boots pressed the charred ground, crushing ash, emitting a faint sound.

He approached Shierte.

The Flame Giant stood beside the World Tree, taller than a mountain, taller than a cloud.

Shierte lowered his head, looking at Yu Lin.

His gaze fell upon this being, a hundred or a thousand times shorter than him, as if looking at an ant.

But he did not move, gripping his flame sword tightly, his knuckles clicking.

Yu Lin lifted his head, looking at Shierte. His gaze was calm, as calm as if he were looking at a tree, a rock, an inconsequential cloud.

"Excuse me."

The two blazing white fireballs in Shierte's eyes flickered violently, as if enduring a great humiliation.

"Do you intend to block us?"

His voice came from the flames, low and coarse.

Yu Lin gave no reply.

Shierte raised his flame sword, the tip aimed at Yu Lin's crown.

White fire spewed from the blade, scorching the surrounding air into distortion.

"Do you think you're the God King?"

His voice grew louder, so loud that the whole plain trembled:

"Even if you're the God King, even if you're Aoding, he died here today! Get lost, or—"

He didn't finish.

A beam of light shone from Yu Lin, spreading outward silently, like wind over a wheat field, like water flooding a beach.

It struck Shierte's flaming sword, struck Shierte's fire, and struck Shierte's body.

Shierte's body split apart at the middle.

Like a door being pushed open.

His body fell to both sides, the left half falling left, the right half falling right, leaving a straight, clean path in the middle with no flame or lava.

His eyes still burned, his mouth still opened and closed.

His hand still held the flaming sword, but the sword also cracked, from tip to hilt, neatly splitting into two halves; the left half fell with the left side of his body, the right half fell with the right side.

Shierte fell. The two halves slammed into the ground, emitting a muffled thunder, scattering ash across the sky!!

The flames still burned, but without direction, aimlessly licking the air as if searching for a target that no longer existed!!

Yu Lin kept moving forward.

He didn't look at Shierte, walking through the fissure, passing between the two halves of Shierte's body.

Behind him, Haila watched the scene, slowly supporting her forehead.

Her fingers pressed on her temples, kneading firmly.

Then she shook her head, letting out a light sigh tinged with helplessness and self‑mockery.

"Has this guy gone mad?" she whispered, her voice audible only to herself:

"Can't tell the big king from the small one..."

Yu Lin walked up to the World Tree.

The World Tree was already dead.

Its roots had been chewed off by Nidehuoge, its trunk burned to charcoal by flame, its branches and leaves long turned to ash.

It stood there like a huge, charred skeleton stripped of all life.

Wind passed through it, emitting a whoo sound; it was crying.

Yu Lin stood before it, pulling that branch from his pocket.

The one Mimi'er had given him, the one taken from the World Tree.

The branch was tiny.

Yu Lin raised the branch to his eyes, glanced at it, then gently tossed it.

"Go!"

The branch traced an arc in the air, falling toward the World Tree's roots.

Where it fell was precisely the main root that Nidehuoge had chewed off!

The moment the branch touched the break, it lit up.

It seeped in from the break, spreading upward along the trunk's grain, like blood flowing through vessels!!

The charred bark began to peel, revealing fresh, tender green bark underneath.

The broken roots regrew, thrusting deep into the earth, gripping soil, gripping rock, gripping the crust cracked by flame!

Withered branches unfurled again, a tender leaf sprouted from the tip, then a second, a third, a fourth. They were tiny, delicate, trembling faintly in the wind!!

The World Tree came alive!

It was no longer that charred skeleton; it became the World Tree again.

But it was different from before.

At this moment, it was exceedingly weak.

But at least.

The Nine Realms split apart.

They were simply not yet perfected.

They were only nascent forms, like freshly planted seeds, still needing time to grow, still needing power to nurture.

Yu Lin stood beneath the World Tree, looking up at the newly born sky for a moment, then turned his gaze toward Vidar's Gods:

"From now on, everyone must work."

"We will carve out new Nine Realms."
