Chapter 639: Yu Lin Gave Too Much
On the throne, Ying Ge spoke.
Her voice was still a child's—clear, with a hint of hoarseness—but her tone had completely changed.
That lazy, careless tone, with a touch of teasing, was exactly the same as the guy Yu Lin remembered.
"Guess."
Yu Lin didn't move.
"You guess whether I'll guess or not?"
"Then I won't guess." Ying Ge stood up. The glass beads behind her followed her movement, one red and one black slowly rotating behind her head, like a crooked crown.
She turned to face the huge mural depicting the Twilight of the Gods, her back to Yu Lin.
On the mural, flames still burned, waves still surged, and stars still fell.
Those images were still, but they looked as if they could move at any moment.
"Have you completed your mission?" Ying Ge asked.
Yu Lin knew what she was asking.
His purpose in coming here was to rewrite the ending of the Twilight of the Gods and open up a new Nine Realms.
The World Tree had regrown, the Nine Realms had separated, the gods' laws had been gathered, awaiting revival...................
By rights, the mission should have been completed.
But it hadn't.
The completion prompt didn't appear, the reward wasn't issued, and the countdown didn't reach zero.
Nothing at all.
Then there was only one explanation.
Someone had tampered with it............ Loki had tampered with it!
Yu Lin didn't ask what she had done, nor how she had done it, merely nodding and saying:
"It can be completed, or it can be left undone—you know what I'm capable of."
Loki's back stiffened for a moment. The glass bead behind her head paused for an instant, then continued spinning.
Silence spread across the vast Great Hall.
"Cough."
Ying Ge raised her hand and gave a light cough.
She turned around and looked at Yu Lin.
On Ying Ge's face, a smile slowly blossomed.
It wasn't the innocent, carefree smile of a child, but Loki's distinctive, nasty grin that made you want to punch him.
The corners of her mouth were pulled wide, her eyes narrowed to slits, and her teeth showed.
"Let me tell you."
"Because all of this is fake—from the moment you arrived here, everything, everything is fake!!"
She raised her hand and waved. The Ragnarok mural behind her blazed to life!
Flames sprayed from the picture, waves surged from it, and stars rained down from it!
Those still images came alive—from beginning to end, from flames igniting to stars falling, from the gods' formation to the World Tree collapsing!
Then they began to reverse: flames shrank back to sword tips, waves receded into the sea, stars returned to the sky, the dead gods rose and walked backward to their places!
The images rewound faster and faster, as if someone had yanked them hard, finally freezing on a single scene.
Yu Lin stood on the Rainbow Bridge.
In the distance, the pillars of the Golden Palace glowed with golden light in the sunlight, and silver vine flowers drifted down on the breeze.
That was the day he arrived in Asgard.
The next moment, the image shattered.
It shattered suddenly, like a mirror struck by a hammer—cracks spread from the center outward, then it collapsed with a crash!
The shards didn't fall; instead they rose, higher and higher, farther and farther, finally vanishing into the white void of light above!
The mural and the gods' images vanished together—or rather, everything here disappeared, leaving only a boundless pure white space, with no up or down, left or right, near or far!
Only the throne remained, floating there, lonely and alone.
Ying Ge sat on the throne, legs crossed, one hand propping her chin.
The glass bead drifted from behind her head to in front of her, the red and black colors inside spinning faster and faster.
She opened her mouth, the bead floated in, and she swallowed.
At that instant, the shadow beneath Ying Ge's feet began to change.
Loki stepped out of Ying Ge's shadow, still the same handsome figure, but that smirk on his face really begged for a punch!
He bent over, picked Ying Ge up, and set her down on the ground beside the throne.
Ying Ge fell asleep, her breathing even, a drool still hanging from the corner of her mouth.
Afterward Loki straightened up, arms spread wide:
"Hahaha!"
"Yu Lin! There's no Twilight of the Gods, no gods! I've already finished everything for you!"
"You've been busy all this time, but it's just been playing with my deceit! Don't even think about completing this mission!"
Yu Lin looked at him, saying nothing.
Those laughs swirled around him, one after another.
"Is this the 'waiting' you had me wait for?"
Yu Lin finally spoke, nodding and saying:
Then you really succeeded, wasting many years of my time.
Loki's laughter stopped; he tilted his head, looked at Yu Lin, and the extent of his smirk increased.
He sat down again, propped his chin on one hand, tilted his head, and said:
Not just that.
Since the time Thor lost his hammer, the Divine King has already been laying plans.
Making you believe I'm that gullible, that foolish.
In fact, the opposite is true: the great Loki cannot be deceived by anyone, Yu Lin; you can offer your worship to me.
Having said that,
He then rose from the throne, took a step forward, and looked down at Yu Lin.
Just.
Yu Lin looked at him, showing a smile that made Loki's heart skip, secretly thinking something was wrong.
Actually, what I just said was a lie; I'm not Yu Lin either.
As his words fell, Yu Lin's face began to change.
It was as if someone peeled away a transparent film from his face, revealing another face underneath.
Fair, delicate, one eye blue and the other black, half the face the color of a living person, half the color of a dead person.
Hera, you?
Hera stood before Loki, wearing Yu Lin's robe, hands in her pockets, posture relaxed:
Father, sorry.
Yu Lin gave too much.
Loki:...........
Beside him, Ying Ge, lying on the ground, turned over and sat up.
His body began to change: he grew taller, his shoulders broadened, his face shape changed, his features shifting from childish softness to adult angles.
Finally.
Yu Lin stood before Loki, waved at him, and smiled.
Hi.
Loki's smile completely vanished.
His eyes widened, his lips twitched,
"You—" his voice caught in his throat, as if blocked by something.
"When?!"
Yu Lin spread his hands: "Just now."
"I merely altered the timeline a bit, adjusted the order."
"I told you, you know what I can do."
"Want to play more?"
