Chapter 650: The Visiting Goddess
Yu Lin walked forward.
The sunlight still hung in the western sky, bathing the whole street in golden brilliance.
He walked unhurriedly, hands in his pockets, no different from a casual stroll.
Less than fifty meters later, a girl in a floral dress burst out from a nearby bubble‑tea shop, phone raised in her hand.
"Hello, may I add you on WeChat?" her face was slightly flushed, eyes bright, the phone screen already displaying a QR code.
Yu Lin gave her a glance, shook his head, and raised his hand:
"Not convenient."
"I don't have a phone, only a Xiao Tiancai smartwatch."
"........ Ah? Sorry, sorry, little brother disturbed you." The girl's smile stiffened, she tucked away the phone, turned away, walked a few steps, then glanced back.
After another few dozen meters, a young man in a suit jogged up, holding a business card.
"Good day, sir. I'm a talent scout from Starbright Media. Your appearance is excellent; would you be interested in learning about our company's artist training program?"
He handed over the card, but Yu Lin didn't take it.
"Not interested; I'm not short of money."
The young man froze for a moment, about to say something, but Yu Lin had already walked past.
The third, the fourth.
There were a girl in a school uniform, a bespectacled white‑collar, a trendsetter with pink‑dyed hair, and a young mother pushing a stroller; the child in the stroller babbled and reached toward Yu Lin.
Yu Lin smiled at the child, the child smiled back, and the young mother seized the chance to pull out her phone.
"I see you like it too; would you be willing to be my child's father?"
"............ I'm not willing."
Yu Lin shook his head; the young mother regretfully tucked away her phone and pushed the stroller away.
He watched her silhouette.
Yu Lin twitched his mouth: "What's all this about?"
He shook his head and kept moving forward.
He hadn't gone far.
A Sword Light descended from the sky ahead.
The Sword Light was bright, cyan, tracing an arc in midair, and steadied directly before Yu Lin.
On the blade stood a young woman in a moon‑white qipao, her long hair bound with a jade hairpin, her features delicate, with a hint of pride in her brows and eyes.
She leapt down from the sword; the sword flew automatically to her back, standing upright in midair, its tip pointing down like an opened umbrella.
She walked to Yu Lin, chin slightly raised, a confident smile at the corner of her mouth.
"Hello, I am Shen Qingyi, a disciple of the deputy dean of the Cultivation Third Academy."
She extended her hand; her fingers were slender, nails painted a light pink.
"May I have a way to contact you? I can guide your cultivation."
"I rarely feel a flutter, but you made me feel it!"
Yu Lin looked at the outstretched hand but did not grasp it.
"No need, I'm not interested in selling my body."
"..........." Shen Qingyi's hand froze in midair, her smile unchanged, though her eyes darkened slightly.
"It's not selling the body; isn't this about fostering a relationship?"
She withdrew her hand and brushed a strand of hair from her ear.
"You may not be familiar with the cultivation world's situation. The Third Academy is one of Xia Guo's finest cultivation schools; I rank among the top ten students, and my Shen family is an emerging great clan. Follow me, and you won't lack cultivation resources."
She fished a business card from her sleeve, engraved with her name and a string of numbers.
"This is my contact info; please consider it."
Yu Lin still did not take it.
Shen Qingyi's brows furrowed, about to say something.
A voice interjected from beside them, low, a touch lazy yet imbued with authority.
"He said no need; didn't you hear?"
Shen Qingyi turned her head.
A foreign woman stood behind her, a full head taller.
Her skin was wheat‑colored, healthy and smooth, making Shen Qingyi's paleness appear even more pronounced.
Her features were deep, bearing obvious Egyptian traits—thick brows, large eyes, a high nose bridge, full lips, and a head of black hair woven into many thin braids that fell over her shoulders and back.
She wore a dark long robe, a golden belt cinched at the waist, the buckle a cat's‑eye stone that glimmered faintly in the sunlight.
Her figure was superb; the robe could not conceal the sleek, powerful lines of her body.
Shen Qingyi instinctively stepped back.
She said it was fear, but it was more the aura emanating from the woman!
Not the murderous or hostile kind, but something from a higher tier!
Like an ordinary person standing at a cliff's edge; without any push, the legs go weak on their own!
Shen Qingyi had seen many strong cultivators in the academy, including those of the Five Qi and He Dao types, but the combined pressure from those never matched that of the woman before her!
"Who are you?" Shen Qingyi's voice dropped a few tones from earlier.
The foreign woman lowered her gaze, her eyes calm and expressionless.
"You have no right to know my name."
Her voice was not loud, yet each word hammered Shen Qingyi's chest like a hammer: "My people are not for you to lay claim to."
Get lost.
Shen Qingyi's face flushed bright red.
She tried to say something, her lips moved a few times, but not a single word came out.
She turned, leapt onto the flying sword, Sword Light flashed, and she vaulted into the sky, disappearing in an instant!
That sword flew much faster than when it arrived!
Later.
The foreign woman turned, lowered her head, and looked at Yu Lin.
Her expression changed from the earlier cold sharpness to softness, even with a hint of apology.
"I was presumptuous just now, sorry."
"It's okay." Yu Lin looked at her, took a step and kept walking forward:
"Let's go, Taifu."
Taifu followed behind him, half a step behind.
She watched Yu Lin's back and recalled something from long ago.
Back then she was still pondering how to win this person over, how to get him on her side, how to scheme with him for the supreme position.
At that time she thought her calculations were excellent, that the terms she offered were generous enough, and that she was clever enough.
Now that she thinks about it, there's not much difference from a clown.............
No wonder he rejected her so decisively back then, so without a second thought.
He didn't need any of those things at all, and he didn't care about what she gave him............ He was just too lazy to argue with her.
Taifu shook her head, brushed away those chaotic thoughts, and stepped forward to keep up with Yu Lin.
They walked past two streets, turned into a residential complex, and went upstairs.
Yu Lin took out his key, opened the door, and the living room lights were on; a Computer screen displayed a ranked match.
Dragon Lord's eyes were fixed on the screen, shouting "Top lane, top lane" and "Who retreats is a coward".
Upon hearing the door open, Dragon Lord didn't even turn his head.
Qilin and White Tiger also didn't look back; White Tiger flicked its tail, sweeping across Qilin's face. Qilin cursed, White Tiger said it wasn't intentional, Qilin replied that it was clearly deliberate.
Lao Jun was not there.
Ning Ya had taken him away a few days ago, saying she was going to the neighboring city for fun, but actually she just wanted a big boss by her side to boost her prestige.
Lately she's been making a splash in the cultivation circle; everywhere people invite her to meals, challenge her to spar, or ask her to recommend others. She doesn't turn them away—she accepts every invitation and appointment, but she declines any recommendation requests outright.
She says one must have principles, and not give one's leg to be embraced by others just because of a few meals.
Yu Lin sat on the sofa, leaned into the cushion, and let out a long sigh.
He pointed to the single sofa opposite. "Sit wherever you like."
"Thank you." Taifu sat opposite him, her back straight, knees together, hands folded on her thighs, her posture as proper as if attending a formal event.
She glanced around the living room, her gaze lingered on Dragon Lord and the other two for a moment before moving on.
Yu Lin looked at her. "You also came to ask for my help, right?"
Taifu nodded. "Yes."
She gave no roundabout talk, no preamble, and admitted it outright.
Because she knew that in front of this person she didn't need those things; those things were useless to him, and scheming in front of him would only make her look ridiculous.
"Is it still about the creation?"
"Yes."
