Chapter 114: Sinuoli's Strategy (Part 1)
Sinuoli took up the thread of conversation, analyzing further, "However, that Night Goblin boss—Skarsnik—is a cunning goblin; he would never let his subordinates swarm a caravan all at once."
Sinuoli tapped on the table, deducing in his mind, imagining how Skarsnik would react upon learning that a Dwarf caravan was approaching Karak-Azgalaz.
"Possessing wisdom? Does that mean he is particularly crafty?"
"Could this be the reason the Mother Goddess bestowed her divine grace?"
The clansmen present had some inkling of what Sinuoli meant, but Sinuoli still decided to explain a little.
"Simply put, we all know that green mushrooms are born to fight; they feel it's great, very Waaagh."
"What does 'great' mean?" the Engineer Buluokesen asked; this vocabulary came from Sinuoli's past life, and none of the clansmen present had heard it before.
"Tsk, tsk! It means, ah, very comfortable, happy, joyful—you understand now?" Sinuoli suddenly felt his language was somewhat lacking.
"Respected Chosen of the Goddess, your statement sounds very Slaanesh, doesn't it?" The one who spoke was the Slayer Rogov.
"My dear cousin, could this be the feeling after taking hallucinogenic mushrooms?" Cousin Tomi asked with a mischievous grin.
"That is not important!" Seeing that the meeting discipline was about to be ruined by the Dwarfs' nature, Sinuoli raised his voice slightly.
"What is important is that the other Greenskins have no strategy! They lack a plan that considers the big picture to achieve global goals. Simply put, they don't know where they are going to fight, nor do they know what to do after they finish a fight."
"Therefore, we often see them invade a Human city, slaughter the garrison, and then start infighting, eventually splitting into small groups and leaving one after another, or even failing to penetrate deep into the city because there are no more fights to be had there and they have grabbed enough loot."
Having heard Sinuoli's analysis, the clansmen gained a certain understanding of the word "strategy."
"Isn't that exactly what Gebade-Tiezhao did? The Waaagh army he launched killed the Human Emperor Xijisimunde and completely wiped the Empire of Man's Suoerling off the map; even now, his claw marks remain on the gates of Karaz-a-Karak."
Captain Gelunsen took a sip of beer from his bottle; he had the longest lifespan, so he had crossed paths with those who had personally experienced that series of bloody battles.
"But what happened? His massive Waaagh crumbled and disintegrated because it couldn't take Altdorf, the capital of the Empire of Man, and that tall, brutal Greenskin himself was cornered and killed at Black Fire Pass by the then-High King Kendelake-Geruikesen. The entry regarding him in the Great Book of Grudges was settled!"
"Yes, I heard that Daduguolu, that fat and stupid fellow, has now run off to the west coast of the Empire of Man to build ships. Who knows what he is going to do? But it is foreseeable that the rabble under his command will not all follow him!"
The Pegasus Knight Maldini had often participated in information exchanges in taverns and was quite knowledgeable about major events in the Old World. The people present began to mock Gulu's foolish actions, though Sinuoli knew that he would become the first Greenskin to set foot on the High Elf lands of Aosuan!
"But the one we are about to face, Skarsnik, he has it! Therefore, I dare assert that he will evaluate the strength displayed by the caravan and then deploy the force he deems sufficient to devour the caravan to attack us, while the other Goblins continue to besiege Fearless Fort, putting pressure on the compatriots inside the city," Sinuoli stated his analysis.
"This means that with the troops hidden in the carriages, we can wipe out that Greenskin force!" Buerjin understood immediately.
"When Skarsnik realizes something is wrong, the second step must be carried out!"
As Sinuoli spoke, he looked toward the two Humans sitting on his right.
"Maldini and Fatisi, you two will not depart with the caravan tomorrow morning. Take a detour from Sanlak Castle and lead all our Human troops to attack Karak-Azgalaz from the side facing Bretonnia; that way, you will strike directly into the rear of the Greenskins."
The two Human Knights nodded upon hearing this.
"Once the force sent by Skarsnik engages with the caravan, you launch a feint attack, pinning his troops from behind to keep him indecisive. As long as he hesitates for a short while and dares not immediately send reinforcements to the caravan..."
"Then, relying on the lovely Artillery on the carriages, we can quickly counter-annihilate the Night Goblin bastards he sent out!" Buluokesen waved his fist as he chimed in.
"I can't wait to scorch them with the Flame Cannon! Roasted mushrooms, hmph hmph!" Buluokesen was full of fighting spirit; he knew that the fastest way to earn enough merit to return to his hometown of Jiliuguan was to eliminate the enemies of the Qunshan on the battlefield.
"But, the number of those Dwarfs is huge! Uncle Fatisi and I have less than three hundred men on hand!" Maldini, who had surveyed the might of the Goblin army from the air, felt some fear; he looked around, his words tinged with cowardice.
"In the name of the Lady! A true Knight should not fear any challenge! Even if I were alone..." The weather-beaten face of Fatisi Qishi carried a look of pious light.
"Young friend, do not worry, I have a proposal!" Sinuoli expressed his understanding to Maldini.
"I suggest you do this: first, have all the Knight Errants with you display their family banners and heraldry. I know this is somewhat against regulations, but it is an expedient measure; they need to understand, and you will have to do the work to convince them."
Sinuoli knew that some Knight Errants would cover their shields and hide their family heraldry, while also not flying recognizable banners, to show that they relied on themselves rather than their family backgrounds; they sought to improve their abilities through adventure.
"Then, tie some branches cut from the woods to the tails of the Mounted Squires' horses and your spare warhorses, and drive those horses to run fast in circles in the woods; this will kick up a large amount of dust!" Sinuoli offered a brilliant plan.
"That Night Goblin boss, seeing dust billowing in the woods behind us, might think there is a large ambush there!" Maldini slapped his thigh; he was captivated by Sinuoli's wisdom.
"Correct, but that Night Goblin is not so simple; he will send small groups to probe your strength. However, that does not matter; as long as he hesitates and does not immediately send reinforcements toward the caravan, your feint mission will have been successfully completed."
"And then? We won't just be shouldering this small task, will we?" Fatisi Qishi suddenly opened his eyes, which had been narrowed the whole time.
"Naturally not. When the caravan finishes off the Greenskin force that was split off and continues to advance, entering the plaza before Fearless Fort, you will attack together with them!" Sinuoli continued.
Thanks for the spiral power monthly ticket.
