Chapter 123: The Madman of Eight Peaks Mountain

~7 min read 1,212 words

The combined potential energy of full plate armor and the kinetic energy of a galloping warhorse make these knights true harbingers of doom for low-level monsters like Trolls and Goblins that lack the protection of armor.

Maldini took the lead on a Pegasus; his lance pierced directly through the chest of a Troll, and the creature closed its mouth forever before the vomit it held could even be spat out.

After the knights charged in a wedge formation, the mounted adventurers also began to slaughter with the weapons in their hands, and soon a patch of open ground was cleared in front of the infantry line.

These men then leisurely turned their horses back behind the Ogre, the formation quickly recovered under Sinuoli's command, and the riders then retreated to prepare for the next possible charge.

Time on the battlefield really passed quickly; as Skarsnik's few rounds of attacks did not achieve much, Sinuoli's line retreated dozens of meters, and this was almost entirely a proactive concession he made to gain more favorable, narrow terrain!

Sinuoli could already see the figure of the Dwarf Lord of Karak-Azgalaz on the Shield-Bearer Platform; these local Dwarfs from Fearless Fort were the first of the three-way encirclement forces to approach the battlefield.

This was partly because their straight-line distance was the shortest, and partly because their will for vengeance was the most intense!!

A smile appeared on the corner of Sinuoli's mouth; he believed he was nearing victory. Although Skarsnik's cunning exceeded his imagination, with timely remedies, the Night Goblin warlord—lacking high-impact, powerful units like Giants or Orc Big 'Uns—seemed to have lost the chance to turn the tables.

"Do not let Skarsnik get away! That is a big Night Goblin, with a big ball of meat following him! Whoever cuts him down, I will reward with one hundred gold coins!"

Sinuoli shouted; there are plenty of Greenskin warbands of all sizes in the Old World, but Skarsnik is one of a kind!

Before Sinuoli's voice had even faded, a series of screams suddenly came from behind!

"Ugh... ah!"

"Hah... hah!"

"What is going on?" Sinuoli looked back and discovered that the position of the Peasant Archers in the rear had been shrouded in a cloud of smoke, from which screams were emerging.

"This is?" Sinuoli racked his brain.

"It must be the Sneaky Snufflers; even the most heinous Greenskin commander would have to look at the level of baseness of these Goblins with admiration!" Captain Gelunsen's voice rang out.

"Damn it!" Sinuoli roared. Yes, he was waiting, and Skarsnik was also waiting. He was waiting for his kin from the east, west, and north to arrive and complete the encirclement, while Skarsnik was waiting for the Sneaky Snufflers to circle to the rear of Sinuoli's defensive line.

"In broad daylight, how did these damn things sneak over?" Sinuoli knew Goblins had this unit type, and he had specifically chosen to start the battle at noon precisely so these sneaky fellows would have nowhere to hide.

His mind was racing, but Sinuoli's feet did not stop; he and some dismounted squires charged into the smoke.

Although in the eyes of the knights, the lives of these Peasant Archers might not be that important, especially since they had already almost exhausted the arrows they carried.

But considering they had almost no power to fight back against the Night Goblins closing in, if they were left to be slaughtered, the next to suffer would be the adventurers and members of the Infantry Regiment holding the front.

"Thunder Strike!" Sinuoli's skill had finished cooling down; he once again slammed his Warhammer into the ground, stirring up a shockwave carrying electric arcs.

This successfully dispersed the smoke created by the Night Goblins, and immediately after, Sinuoli's question was answered: the moment the smoke dissipated, several greenish magic missiles headed straight for his face!

Facing this sudden attack, he performed a donkey-roll on the spot, dodged two of them, and then used his Warhammer to block forward, knocking away the last one.

The power of Gaze of Mork was not great to begin with, and the subordinates around this Night Goblin Shaman were few in number and were not very "Waaagh" Snufflers—even by the standards of cunning Goblins, these assassins were still generally considered second-rate scum.

They could not provide much extra energy to this Night Goblin Shaman, so Sinuoli only felt his arm go slightly numb from the shock.

"Night Shroud!" Seeing the Night Goblin Shaman in front of him, dancing with a mouth full of yellow teeth, Sinuoli thought of a reasonable explanation for how these bastards appeared behind him!

This is a Xiao Waaagh spell; the Night Goblin Shaman throws some specially cultivated, black-topped Nightshade Mushrooms into the sky, and they explode to form a pitch-black cloud, which not only blocks the sun to reduce the discomfort of the Night Goblins but also allows them to hide their figures within it.

Sinuoli selected Storm Hammer twice in the system and then moved it away twice; he finally decided to take a small risk and engage this Shaman in melee, partly to test his own skills, and partly to save his ready-to-use skills for Skarsnik.

"Come forward and die!" Sinuoli let out a roar and charged forward with long strides; he jumped up and slammed down heavily. The Night Goblin Shaman had originally intended to dodge, but after being slowed by the previous Thunder Strike, its reaction was half a beat slow, so in its desperation, it held its staff horizontally to block.

With a "Bang!", Sinuoli's hammer head smashed onto the staff. The Night Goblin Shaman was sent stumbling back two steps by this Heavy Strike. Although Sinuoli was not considered strong among Dwarfs, the gap in racial talent determined that he was far superior to the Night Goblin in front of him in strength.

"Eh?" Sinuoli flexed his wrist; he was not satisfied with the power of this strike. Perhaps the Master-level Throwing Rune's boost to weapon power was not as good as the Heavy Strike Rune or the Shattering Rune,

or perhaps the Shaman's staff had been strengthened by the infiltration of Waaagh energy and Da Orks power. In any case, this thing did not break as Sinuoli had imagined.

"Come on, come again! You filthy Dwarf-thing!" Sinuoli took a stance, keeping alert as he pressed toward the Night Goblin Shaman with small steps. The Night Goblin Shaman was also retreating step by step.

"Ya!" Sinuoli did not use a skill and threw the hammer directly at the Shaman; from ten paces away, throwing was faster and more accurate.

"Pa!" The Night Goblin Shaman was also a veteran of many battles; it lowered its head slightly and simultaneously used the head of its staff to flick upward, knocking Sinuoli's hammer off course.

Immediately after, it pulled a dagger with an unfriendly rusty-green color from its bosom and lunged at Sinuoli, wanting to finish him off while his weapon was not in his hand.

Such an action played right into Sinuoli's hands; while feigning panic, he triggered the Rune on the hammer.
