Chapter 126: The Thorn of Skarsnik
"Come back! Get back here, his staff's recharge speed isn't that fast!" Sinuoli realized something was wrong; such a powerful skill effect required a long cooldown! This cunning Night Goblin was bluffing!
But it was too late; these filthy creatures were fast on their feet, and unwilling to engage in a prolonged fight, they charged straight through the gap left by the Ogre.
Sinuoli held his breath; he knew the success or failure of the plan now rested entirely on him!
"Skarsnik, die for me!" To gain a high-ground advantage for his attack and prevent the war hammer he threw from being blocked by the personal guards surrounding the Night Goblin Warlord, he jumped with all his might, locking onto Skarsnik's conspicuous, tall-hatted figure in mid-air with his Storm Hammer.
The sounds on the battlefield were exceptionally chaotic, and Skarsnik himself was not known for agility or quick reflexes; by the time he heard the sound of the war hammer tearing through the air and stopped his stabbing motion, the hammer had already reached the top of his head.
"Awoo! Awoo!"
"Pfft!"
Sinuoli heard a few strange noises, and the entire battlefield seemed to fall silent for a moment; after landing, he began to observe what had happened.
It was Gobla; that massive and loyal Cave Squig had leaped up to block the lethal hammer for its master.
"Damn beast!" Sinuoli punched the air fiercely and recalled his war hammer; seeing that his encircling troops were still over ten meters away, and considering the difference in movement speed, his plan for encirclement could be said to have failed.
Skarsnik struggled to crawl out from under Gobla, and to everyone's surprise, this Night Goblin did not immediately flee in the joy of surviving a disaster; instead, he went to check on the Squig's injuries!
Although Sinuoli's Meteorite War Hammer was quite heavy, Gobla was no ordinary Squig; the combined power of a first-level Storm Hammer and a Master-level Throwing Rune was still not enough to kill this monster outright. Its fungal body was dented, but it was still alive.
"Boss! Let's go!" This was the voice of the Night Goblin Shaman Laoyueya; it had spent quite a bit of effort to shake off the entanglement of the Dwarf pursuers behind, but upon finally reaching the boss, it found that Skarsnik had stopped his breakout.
"No, I'm taking Gobla with me!" Skarsnik let out a heart-wrenching howl; for the despicable and cunning Night Goblins, it was difficult for them to understand the bond between Skarsnik and Gobla.
For Skarsnik, the Squig before him was not just a savior; in the Night Goblin society, which was filled with conspiracies and deceit, even after becoming the boss of a warband, he still had to walk on thin ice, unable to trust any of his subordinates.
He constantly suspected that one of the Night Goblins—perhaps the most capable Mozhetian or the most brilliant spellcaster Laoyueya—might want to take his head in the night and replace him as the Warboss.
Such suspicions were by no means groundless; wasn't that exactly how Skarsnik himself had risen to power? In such an extreme environment, a loyal companion was undoubtedly precious.
Gobla was Skarsnik's pet, his helper on the battlefield, a friend to whom he could pour out his heart, and the guarantee that he could sleep soundly at night! Skarsnik could not accept losing it.
Under the boss's threats, a few stronger Night Goblin guards dragged and carried Gobla to escape, but this undoubtedly slowed down the Night Goblins' speed of flight.
Sinuoli almost laughed out loud at this hilarious scene; what a turn of events! While the Night Goblins were in a panic, Sinuoli's eastern army, his Anvil Guard, had already flanked to the front.
These Dwarf warriors, protected from head to toe in Meteorite Iron Armor, took over the positions of the exhausted Human adventurers, completely blocking the narrow mountain road of Fearless Fort.
"Spray! Spray them hard! Tonight I'm having fire-roasted green mushrooms!" Sinuoli breathed a sigh of relief; he believed he was close to victory once again, but he would not relax, decisively ordering the Irondrake gunners to unleash their fire.
These Dwarfs holding their Iron-drake Handguns were full of pent-up frustration! They had gotten up early to trek over mountains, and after arriving, they had spent half the day moving stones and building roadblocks, only to be told the plan had changed and their previous work was for nothing.
Then, wearing their Meteorite Plate Armor, they had run at full speed; their teammates in front, holding axes and shields, could at least hack at the slow-moving Night Goblins to vent, but they hadn't even had a chance to fire!
Before they could find a firing lane through the gaps of their teammates in front and finish aiming, those Night Goblins had long since vanished!
Now, the flames emitted by the Iron-drake Handguns were like the physical manifestation of the rage in their hearts, burning the Night Goblins until they wailed and wished they could dig a hole in the ground to hide.
"Hmph! Skarsnik, I'm going to scatter your ashes!" Sinuoli looked at the sea of fire before him and tucked his war hammer back into his belt; although he had the aid of his boots, he was still exhausted!
Just as Sinuoli was preparing to go and inspect Skarsnik's corpse, the situation suddenly changed again.
"Waaagh!" Behind him, on the mountain road leading to Bretonnia, the sound of a Waaagh rang out once more.
These sounds were quite deep and resonant, not something the shrill shrieks of Goblins could compare to!
Sinuoli looked back and saw a large group of Orcs emerging from the woods, wearing no armor, only grass skirts covering their lower bodies, their exposed skin covered in strange, colorful paint.
"Savage Orcs? How could these bastards show up here?" Sinuoli felt a headache; these guys were supposed to live in the jungles of the Southlands.
"Boom! Boom-boom!" Drumbeats with a strange rhythm began to sound!
These Savage Orcs were not only savage in appearance, but they would also drum and chant before battle to incite their bloodlust.
Although other Orcs considered their primitive customs strange, they all agreed that Savage Orcs were extremely ferocious warriors.
These guys brandished large clubs, stone axes, and flint spears; looking down from the slope, Sinuoli could vaguely see some Savage Orc Arrer Boys holding crude bows and arrows behind them.
These Savage Orcs cleared a path amidst their wild cries and rhythmic drumming, and a small group of even taller Big 'Uns appeared, painted in the most bizarre patterns and wearing a pile of shriveled heads, bracelets, and other totems.
They surrounded a massive war boar; the size of that war boar was comparable to a Dragon, but compared to the rider on its back, the boar itself was not worth being surprised by.
"I am Wurzag, the Green-skin Prophet handpicked by Gork and Mork! Mork told me to come over and see which one is Skarsnik!"
