Chapter 282: Internal Conflict
Very quickly, Sinuoli heard the debate downstairs escalate from discussing the matter at hand to taking sides and attacking a specific group. Before he could react, the situation escalated again amidst a flurry of shouting.
"Bang!"
"You actually hit someone?"
"Guards! Where are the guards?"
"Hitting people is going way too far!" Master Nathan muttered; he had not expected that due to his indulgence, the conflict among his subordinates had reached such a point. One must know that in the Mountain Kingdom, due to the sparse population, harming one another had always been a serious crime.
"Clatter!"
In the midst of the commotion, the soldiers surrounding the guards rushed in. The place where the dispute occurred was the fortress hall, and since Red Cloud Mountain was still in a state of combat readiness, there was a significant proportion of garrison forces nearby.
"Boom! Snap!"
"Stop, sto... ah!"
Unfortunately, these soldiers failed to control the situation, and they let out bursts of pained cries.
"A large-scale conflict?" Sinuoli muttered to himself; as he thought about it, it was likely that the Engineers from Everpeak had acted together, otherwise those warriors who dared to be among the first batches to adventure in the Southlands would not have fallen into a disadvantage so quickly.
"These part-time warriors are still a bit lacking in strength, but don't worry, Junior Brother, I can handle it."
With such a thing happening the moment Sinuoli arrived, Master Nathan clearly felt he was losing face; he took out a communication device while speaking. Accompanied by a dense "clattering" sound, the Senior Brother's Anvil Guard quickly assembled at the entrance.
"Ancestor Gods above, Situoke, go down and pin those troublemakers for me!" Master Nathan ordered in a deep voice while rubbing the ring on his hand.
"Thump, thump, thump!"
The Anvil Guard trotted down the stairs, and Sinuoli sat back down at his desk, beginning to think about how to handle the aftermath.
As far as he could see, the situation was already under control; even if Master Nathan's Anvil Guard only had half a squad, and only half of those were on duty just now, these were true elites!
Twenty warriors in full meteorite-iron armor, with tacit cooperation and led by a team leader, would have no problem slaying even weaker giant beasts. Furthermore, Sinuoli knew Captain Situoke; that Longbeard veteran had always been one of the top powerhouses in Everpeak.
"Little Beard, stop right there! Hands on your head and squat down! His Majesty Sinuoli will judge your crimes!" Captain Situoke's booming voice traveled up from downstairs.
"Bastard! You are all in on this! Why didn't you care before, and why didn't you come just now? Huh?" The rebel did not intend to surrender, and his voice was even louder than Captain Situoke's.
"Duang!"
"Pfft! Urgh!"
The sound of a strike and a muffled groan rang out almost simultaneously.
"Charge together!"
Master Nathan reached for the Forging Hammer on the rack; clearly, he had recognized the screams of his own subordinates.
