Chapter 283: Gotrek
"Crack!"
"Pfft!"
"Shall we go take a look together?"
Master Nathan could no longer sit still; he picked up his hammer and walked to the door. Sinuoli suddenly noticed that his senior brother's equipment was much like his own; perhaps this was the tradition of the Rune Smiths.
"Hah! What is this Little Beard's name, and which Clan is he from? How is he so fierce!"
Walking out of the office door and looking down from the railing, Sinuoli and his senior brother were both shocked by what they saw. There was no large-scale brawl as they had imagined; there was only a Dwarf standing defiantly in the center of the hall.
Engineers, adventurers, and Anvil Guards lay scattered in a heap at his feet. The few remaining guards hid their bodies behind Meteorite Shields, leaning against walls or relying on pillars to gain a shred of security.
"If your abilities were even one-tenth as tough as your mouths, you wouldn't have ended up in such a state!"
The Dwarf standing in the center muttered to himself while rolling down his sleeves. Sinuoli did not see any weapons in his hands. "Could he have handled so many people with his bare hands?" This absurd thought appeared in the Lord's mind.
Sinuoli quickly calculated his own combat power; he suspected that if he did not activate Avatar of the Gods, he would find it difficult to take down so many people. Not to mention the other adventurers, those twenty Anvil Guards were all battle-hardened veterans!
Relying on a set of Meteorite Iron Armor, Sinuoli's level-two Thunder Strike could not knock down a whole group at once. If it came to close-quarters combat, his short-handled Forging Hammer could certainly take one down in a single blow, but considering the numbers and their coordination, he would likely be exhausted by defense and have little chance to take the initiative.
"I am Andemge-Kazadson, Special Envoy from Red Cloud Mountain!"
Before Sinuoli and Master Nathan could say anything, Andemge roared and leaped down from the railing. He landed, rolled forward to dissipate the impact, and headed straight for that Dwarf. This young Ranger wanted to show off his good skills once more.
"Overestimating yourself!"
Facing the challenger descending from the sky, the corners of the Dwarf's mouth beneath his black beard curled up slightly. He raised his right hand and slowly clenched it into a fist; the movement seemed slow but was actually fast. With a "Bang!", it was as if Andemge had crashed directly into his fist.
"Thump!"
The Ranger fell straight down. The Plate Armor on his body was as good as useless; he had lost his combat effectiveness before he could even make a move.
"Holy shit!"
Sinuoli spat out a curse. Andemge's performance during the expedition was plain for all to see; such a hero among Dwarfs was literally unable to withstand a single blow from that young man!
"I, Rogov, the one recognized by Grimbrindal, Captain of Lord Sinuoli's guard, am here! Who dares to act recklessly!"
Rogov had heard the commotion. This warrior, who had found the end of his journey, was also shocked by the scene in the hall, but he still bravely stood opposite that Dwarf alongside Sinuoli's guard.
"Relax, don't be impulsive, warrior. Let's talk things over slowly!" Sinuoli was walking down the stairs at this moment. His appearance triggered a burst of cheers; the clansmen seemed to have found their backbone.
"Greetings to you, my Lord!" The standing Dwarf seemed to have vented enough of his anger and bowed slightly to Sinuoli.
"What made you commit such a taboo as to actively attack our own kin?" Sinuoli's voice was calm; long-term residence in high positions had gradually taught him how to soothe hearts. At the same time, he released the Valaya Ritual. Amidst bursts of green light, the injuries of the fallen clansmen were smoothed away.
With the recovery of the Ancestral Lands and the development of the Nan Shijie Bianyuan Shanmai, the satisfaction and cohesion of the entire Mountain Kingdom had been raised to a height unprecedented since the Great Earthquake. Accompanying this was a pious faith in the Ancestor Gods and even more enthusiastic work; all these combined made Sinuoli's Revival Points almost inexhaustible.
"I must reiterate: unless it is an extremely special situation, actively harming one's own kind should not be encouraged!" He looked around at the clansmen in the hall; his prestige and divine grace made the injured who had jumped up lower their heads. Competition could be allowed, but it must be controlled within a reasonable range.
"My Lord, they, these scums! They attacked me, attacked my craftsmanship and creativity, and even wanted to attack my guild and my Clan! You tell me, can I endure this!"
Bringing up the injustice he had just suffered, the young man's temper flared up again. "Those guys from Jiliuguan and Haimenguan, relying on the fact that the headquarters of the Engineer Guild is on their side, when it comes to arrogance, even the pointy-eared sprouts can hardly compare to them!"
"My Lord, don't listen to his nonsense. Gotrek's ideas are completely chaotic, he actually wanted to..."
An engineer who had been knocked down was still unconvinced; he shouted from behind Sinuoli, but Sinuoli froze the moment he heard the name uttered from his mouth, and he did not take in a single word of what followed.
"You, what is your name? Gotrek?"
Sinuoli asked tremblingly. In fact, the name Gotrek was as common as his own "Sinuoli" in the current Mountain Kingdom. At least one in ten male Dwarfs was named one of these two names, and another would have a derivative of them.
"Sinuoli" came from the White Dwarf Snorri Whitebeard; "Gotrek" came from the High King Gotrek-Suixingzhe during the War of the Beard. These two were recognized as the greatest kings and heroes of all the Dwarf Realms; naming a child after them carried a beautiful wish.
"Gotrek Gurnisson, just a commoner."
"Gurnisson?" Sinuoli muttered to himself. This was like his own Suorsen, meaning Son of Grini. But the Gotrek he was looking for had already taken the Slayer Oath when he debuted, so his surname was not often shown in public.
However, judging from the astonishing combat power just displayed, Sinuoli could say with ten-tenths certainty that the Gotrek in front of him was the "most failed Slayer" he was looking for.
The Dwarf superman Gotrek had a scribe specifically recording his epic adventures. He was always seeking death, yet the heads he had chopped off were enough to make the vast majority of bloodthirsty demons feel ashamed; of course, he had also banished the Greater Daemons of the Four Gods more than once.
In his previous life, when Sinuoli read Mr. Gotrek's illustrious military exploits, he always wondered if he would ascend to demonhood on the spot if he shouted, "Blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne."
"Ahem, are you, are you currently employed at the Engineer Guild?" Sinuoli licked his lips; he knew he had to win over the Dwarf in front of him, and he knew he would definitely be able to win him over.
"Not bad, though I'll be heading to Slayer Keep soon." Gotrek sighed and raised his fists in front of him. Everyone's eyes in the hall converged on those iron fists as big as hammers; compared to cannons, these were even more true weapons of slaughter!
