Chapter 1: Source Essence

~9 min read 1,683 words

In the Darkness, Ninglu wanted to open his eyes, but his eyelids were heavy, as if they had been glued shut.

He vaguely sensed his curled-up body slowly rotating in the turbid amniotic fluid, continuing to sleep in a daze.

It is unknown how much time passed before his perception suddenly became clear; beyond the amniotic fluid was a glass partition, which in turn was part of an unpainted, silver-gray iron device.

The smooth surface of the device had numerous mechanical slots and ports, with silver Gothic numerals—XI—clearly engraved on the front, and another line of smaller, delicately inscribed text on the metal plate below.

This was the first time Ninglu had "seen" this script; it was unlike any language he knew, appearing to be a long, complex prayer used to beseech external forces for blessings and support.

Just as he attempted to decipher it, a voice of surprise sounded in his ear.

"My Lord, the senses of the Eleventh Primarch are very keen, just like those of the Fifteenth Primarch."

A voice as majestic as thunder rang out.

"No, Malcador."

"I bestowed upon the Fifteenth Primarch powerful psychic talents, while I gave the Eleventh Primarch keen perception and a powerful consciousness."

"He will possess extraordinary insight; he will be able to keenly capture the weaknesses of his enemies and deliver precise, lethal blows; he will be the reaper of the battlefield, a god of death."

【The Eleventh Primarch?】

【Malcador?】

Ninglu felt as if he had been struck by lightning, his blurred consciousness instantly becoming clear.

Holding a staff, the old man looked as if he were at death's door, emitting a blinding light, yet compared to the sun beside him, he was more like a star.

As soon as his consciousness touched the sun, he felt a stinging pain, as if being burned.

"Sleep! You are still too fragile; now is not the time for you to serve me!"

The sun's voice seemed to possess a certain magic; Ninglu immediately could no longer feel the existence of the outside world, as if the entire world consisted only of the gestation pod.

His body also immediately turned slowly, facing away from the two who had spoken, his brain thinking sluggishly.

【I... have transmigrated... they are... the Emperor... and Malcador... I have become... the Eleventh... Primarch...】

Ninglu felt his thinking fall into a strange state; after this sentence fully emerged in his mind, he did not know how much time had passed.

His perception was suddenly liberated again, or more accurately, the restraints had vanished.

He sensed the existence of the platform, the vibrating metal pillar engines, and other gestation pods.

He also sensed another conscious mind—Magnus?

Ninglu sensed that the Emperor and Malcador had already left, and he also sensed the surrounding gestation pods and the powerful living beings gestating within them.

He also sensed the scientists working at their respective stations below the platform; their protective suits were all imprinted with the number "I" on the back.

Their gloves were covered in blood, and they were using silver scalpels to slice open pale organs.

By this time, Ninglu had confirmed that he had transmigrated into the Warhammer World and was a Primarch created by the Emperor to conquer the galaxy for the "Great Crusade."

【Why let me transmigrate into this cesspit of Warhammer, and as the Eleventh Primarch who will be erased, no less.

Even if I am cautious and careful, can I really avoid my future fate?】

Just as he thought this, he suddenly felt his "body" floating, his body enveloped by black mist.

【How could there be fog in a gestation pod? Are the Four Ruinous Powers making a move already?】

Immediately, Ninglu discovered that his consciousness had arrived in a world of black mist; the black mist was boundless, and he could not feel any edges.

Only within a hundred-meter radius centered on him was there no black mist, allowing him to see clearly.

【The Four Ruinous Powers are supposed to scatter all the Primarchs, throwing them to various worlds in the galaxy; they shouldn't have pulled only my consciousness.】

During the process of creating the Primarchs, the Emperor made a deal with the Chaos Four Gods, agreeing that half of the Primarchs would belong to the Warp deities.

He had only humanity in his heart and would not be bound by morality, so he naturally wanted to break the agreement, but the Chaos Four Gods would not let him default; they created a Warp Storm in the laboratory, throwing the twenty Primarchs to different worlds in the galaxy.

Just as Ninglu was puzzled, a massive stream of information was suddenly poured into his mind.

If it were before, his head would definitely have been blown apart, but now his superhuman brain was processing the information at high speed.

【I am currently in the "Kingdom of Disorder," and the Source Essence, in order to evolve, chose me and brought me to the Warhammer World.】

Ninglu suddenly remembered that before transmigrating, as a fan of Lord of the Mysteries, he had participated in the crowdfunding for the Blasphemous Slate.

After excitedly opening the package, he discovered there was a mysterious prize, and subsequently, he was surrounded by black mist and lost consciousness.

At the same time, Magnus's consciousness stirred, spreading over with suspicion; when it swept over the Eleventh Primarch's gestation pod, it found no abnormalities, and after lingering for a moment, feeling as if he were asleep, it withdrew its consciousness.

Ninglu looked ahead to see a huge slate; he accurately sensed that the slate was twenty-two meters wide and ten meters high.

With a thought, he arrived before the gray slate.

The "Kingdom of Disorder" had just instilled in him a vast amount of knowledge about the extraordinary realms; he knew the slate recorded the Potion Formulas for 22 pathways.

A pathway is a chain of Sequences that rises step by step and grows steadily.

If a mortal wants to obtain extraordinary power, they must consume a Sequence 9 Potion and become a Beyonder.

The lower the Sequence number, the higher the quality of the potion; Sequence 9 to Sequence 0 is also a path to godhood.

Bearing the identity and fate of the master of the "Kingdom of Disorder," he must walk the "Black Emperor" pathway; therefore, the Blasphemous Slate currently only has the Potion Formula for Sequence 9 "Lawyer," and subsequent Sequences as well as Potion Formulas for other pathways must be unlocked gradually.

Sequence 9 "Lawyer" Potion Formula:

Main Ingredients: 1100 millimeters of Wire Grass, 1 Chemical Dog Tongue.

Supplementary Ingredients: 1100 milliliters of Helas Volt, 1 Thorn Crystal, 1 Hive Giant Rat.

Extraordinary Abilities:...

Ninglu knew from the extraordinary knowledge that the Potion Materials on the Blasphemous Slate were different from those in his memory, but were instead materials in the Warhammer World that contained the same extraordinary characteristics.

Fortunately, each material had an image, so he would not mistake them.

He also noticed that among the Potion Materials, the Hive Giant Rat and the Thorn Crystal were shimmering, while the other three were dim and lusterless.

Helas Volt?

Seeing the liquor that resembled black vodka, he immediately recalled that it was a local specialty of the Industrial World Vostonia.

The Chemical Dog also had nothing to do with the Safra Chemical Dog; it was a canine brought by the first settlers of Vostonia.

【The place I am currently in is the laboratory on Terra; there are both Giant Rats and Thorn Crystals in the Hive City, so they glow on the Blasphemous Slate.

The other three types of Potion Materials are missing, so they remain dim; this is quite convenient, at least letting me know whether the Potion Materials exist in the world I am in.

To become a "Lawyer," I must make a trip to Vostonia.】

Ninglu thought of the Emperor potentially returning to the laboratory at any moment, so he decided to return to his original body.

His "body" rapidly became heavy, the black mist vanished, and he returned to the gestation pod.

Ninglu felt a wave of fatigue, and then he fell into a deep sleep.

After Magnus sensed something unusual, the consciousness that had spread over discovered nothing, and it suspiciously retracted.

In the following days, he drifted between sleep and wakefulness, pondering his plan to use his cheat to change his fate.

【The Primarchs are useful tools for the Emperor; he ordered the erasure of the Primarchs of the Second and Eleventh Legions, so they must have committed sins he could not tolerate—either falling to Chaos or colluding with Xenos.

Possessing keen senses, I might have been cast into some special world, becoming contaminated by local culture during my growth, unable to be eradicated.

If I want to change the fate of being erased, I must start from the gestation pod!】

On the 11th day of his transmigration, he suddenly woke from his slumber; he felt the Geller Field protecting the laboratory suddenly fail, and the energy barrier between the real world and the Warp was torn apart.

The source of the extraordinary characteristics of the War Hammer, that is, why these materials can be mixed to concoct Potions and gain extraordinary abilities, will only be discovered when Ninglu advances to a high Tier, as this involves the rules of this universe. Some of this will be revealed in Chapter 47.

The scattering of the Primarchs follows the official novel "The First Heretic" as the first step of the Chaos Four Gods' plan; the scenes of the gestation pods and the aftermath of exiting them are also taken from the events witnessed by Ageer·Ta. The translation of the gestation pods naturally adopts the terminology used in that book.

Regarding the conflict with Erda from the Siege of Terra series, I personally believe she did not have the ability to destroy the Emperor's laboratory defenses and scatter the Primarchs into the Warp.

Members of the Legions will be continuously updated in the "Work Related" section; those who forget can check it themselves.
