Chapter 12: The Barbarian
The laser gun, handcrafted by the finest Artisan of the Hantemanxi Dome, fired bright beams; two beams, almost simultaneously, precisely pierced through an Ogryn's eyes.
"Bad, that brat found us."
The guide, who was at least a head taller than the other Ogryns and could even report the number five, shouted loudly as the "Smart Head."
"Charge, kill him, or we all have to die!"
"Smart Head" swung the heavy club in his hand and shouted loudly.
"Smash!"
"Meat!"
Just as all the Ogryns were excitedly shouting "Smash" and "Meat" along with him, another big guy fell down.
Ogryns have a large stride; taking a big step is equivalent to several steps of an ordinary person, and when charging at high speed, they are like human-shaped tanks charging during a Hive City war.
But they were not faster than Ninglu's bullets; data such as terrain, distance, the Ogryns' running speed, and body size were all taken as variables into his brain's calculations, completing the model calculation in an instant.
Two Ogryns were like crashing into light beams, pierced through by four beams of light.
"Smart Head" reacted; he used his left arm to block his eyes and also adopted a "Z" shaped zigzag run.
Sure enough, he was not hit by the light beams.
The two guides, however, lost confidence; Ninglu's marksmanship was too precise.
They had heard the knowledgeable Arbiter mention that fatal wounds that would kill an ordinary person several times over were nothing to an Ogryn.
Laser guns hitting their thick-skinned bodies would only leave a bloody hole, impossible to make them fall; this was also the reason why Dimitrov was so confident.
But they discovered that every one of Ninglu's shots precisely hit the Ogryns' fragile eyes.
Whether standing in place suffering a sneak attack or running at high speed, there was no difference.
Thinking of the combat record Ninglu had achieved in over twenty work cycles, they lost their courage and turned to run at the same time.
"Cowards!"
Estupinian's Captain of the guard glanced at them with disdain; his heart was full of resentment. The master did not trust them, hiring brainless Ogryns to let them serve as a supporting role.
【Intelligence, discipline, are the true meaning of combat!】
The Captain of the guard shouted: "Attack!"
Twenty elite guard members pulled their triggers, pouring ammunition toward Ninglu.
The next moment, the two fleeing people had their backs of their heads explode, and their corpses fell to the ground with a thud.
The Captain of the guard was shocked; the youth actually dodged the attack at high speed while simultaneously raising his gun to shoot and kill the two.
He ducked his head violently, wanting to hide behind the abandoned machine tool.
A guard member did not hear the Captain's voice and turned his head to look, only to see the Captain's skull pierced through, falling to the ground with wide eyes, and then everything went black before his eyes.
When "Smart Head" rushed to the entrance of the passage, there were no living people left behind him, but he did not know, nor did he care.
In his mind, there was only the thought of smashing the target youth to death and going back to eat meat steaks.
Seeing the youth draw a Chainsword and wait for him at the passage entrance, "Smart Head" immediately swung his heavy club to smash down.
With a loud bang, the heavy club smashed into the wall of the abandoned factory above the passage.
Through his positioning, Ninglu lured "Smart Head" into a blocked attack, then seized the opportunity, leaped up, and the roaring blade slashed onto the Ogryn's thigh.
"Ah!"
The Ogryn let out a miserable scream; nearly a quarter of the flesh and blood on his thigh had been shaved away, and the bone was already visible.
"Smash you to death!"
"Smart Head" learned to be smart this time; the heavy club did not scrape the rock wall but smashed onto the metal pipe of the passage, immediately creating a large dent.
Ninglu moved around the Ogryn, making full use of the passage entrance; "Smart Head" was the same height as the passage, and swinging a heavy club over a meter long left him restricted everywhere.
Every one of his sword strikes slashed onto the Ogryn's leg, gradually connecting them together.
With a boom, "Smart Head" fell to the ground; only then did the Ogryn discover that his legs were gone.
"Bring two teams of people, one team to carry him back, the other team to guard."
"Remember, don't damage his arms."
"Yes, Boss."
Immediately, two teams of people came to the passage entrance; approaching the half-Ogryn at close range, they immediately felt the sturdiness of this big guy.
Even if they ate the best in the Lower Hive, the Ogryn was still four or five times as wide as them.
After Ninglu sent the two teams to drag the main material back, he waved his hand at Bukayo, who was looking at him worshipfully.
"Lead the way!"
"Yes, Boss!"
Bukayo answered loudly, turned around, puffed out his chest, and led the way in front.
The team moved forward all the way until a dense spider web appeared before their eyes, and Bukayo reported to the boss in a low voice.
"Boss, we are less than one kilometer away from the abandoned Dome where the spider's nest is located; we have already entered its Jingjie range."
Ninglu nodded slightly; his Superhuman Senses had already penetrated the layers of dense spider webs, sensing that behemoth.
"Set fire!"
Ten gang members immediately threw the Molotov cocktails in their hands, smashing them forward.
Dozens of Molotov cocktails with added Promethium immediately ignited a fire, and the spider webs disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye as if they were melting.
One after another, incomplete, gray-black corpses rolled and smashed onto the ground.
The subordinates' eyes stung, and they put on their breathing Masks one after another; after their vision recovered, they saw the tragic scene on the ground.
The ground was covered with white bones, not a single one of which was complete.
Bukayo reminded Ninglu with worry, "Boss, when I scouted before, I happened to run into the Black Widow hunting."
"It is more than twenty meters tall, and its lung sac is as big as three or four adults."
"The sound it makes after inhaling and exhaling is sharp and ear-piercing, making one's head spin; those struck by the airflow have their bones shattered, collapsing to the ground, waiting in despair for it to reach them."
Ninglu glanced at Bukayo; that the youth could remain calm while witnessing such a terrifying scene meant he was a talent worth molding.
He cast his gaze forward as the Black Widow drew closer, and he spoke to the two Rat-catching Teams.
"Spread out and launch your attack, but take care not to strike the lung sac."
"Yes, Boss."
The Rat-catching Team moved at once, hiding behind discarded equipment.
The members of the Rat-catching Team watched nervously as a gargantuan creature crawled along the ceiling above.
Its giant lung was only a few meters above the ground.
A Rat-catching Team member's hand trembled, and he pulled the trigger.
In his haste, he did not aim, and the bullet struck the lung sac directly.
Ninglu thought to himself that it was bad, then discovered the bullet had been deflected, and the lung sac had merely trembled slightly.
【It is worthy of being the main material for the Sequence 8 Potion; it is far tougher than an ordinary lung.】
The fourteen eyes of the Lung Spider flashed with cold light, and its lung sac inhaled sharply, creating a hurricane-like wind within the tunnel.
Just as the Lung Spider was about to exhale the force from its lungs, a gunshot rang out, and a beam pierced one of its eyes.
The other materials had already been gathered, so there was no need to capture the Lung Spider alive; they only needed to obtain the lung sac.
The Lung Spider's remaining thirteen eyes all turned toward the youth below.
As soon as it met the youth's pitch-black eyes, its body trembled; instinct told it that the youth was more dangerous than all the others combined.
With a boom, Bukayo and the others felt as if they had heard a cannon roar, and the entire tunnel shook violently.
They looked toward their boss with worry, then saw a terrifying shockwave smash the discarded equipment into fragments.
"Boss!"
Bukayo cried out in grief; ever since he fled to the Lower Hive, he had been struggling to survive, eating one meal and then starving for three days.
It wasn't until Ninglu appeared that, although life was still hard, he could at least eat his fill.
If the boss were gone, no one could keep this large group in check, and he did not want to return to the life he had lived before.
Just then, a shining beam illuminated Bukayo's eyes, and also lit up his gloomy heart.
Another of the Black Widow's eyes had been shot through; the boss was not dead!
The beam flashed repeatedly, and as the smoke cleared, Bukayo saw the boss's figure again, and the Lung Spider had lost all its eyes.
It took a deep breath, blindly releasing shockwaves in all directions.
"Hit its spider legs!"
Ninglu shouted, and the group pulled their triggers, pouring a rain of bullets onto the Black Widow.
The blind Black Widow struggled in vain, causing the Death of four Rat-catching Team members.
Ninglu used a Chainsword to cut off the lung sac, had the four Rat-catching Team members carry it, and returned to the Magnieto Steel Mill.
He immediately began to concoct the "Barbarian" Potion.
A Psionic Crystal was thrown into the Lasvolt, the furnace immediately erupted with blinding light, and the Mital Steel thrown in afterward quickly melted into molten steel.
After he threw the Lung Spider in, the furnace emitted a series of explosions.
【It isn't going to blow up, is it?】
Ninglu thought worriedly, but his hands did not slow down as he threw the arm of the "Smart Head" inside.
The explosions ceased immediately, and a brilliant black light erupted.
He waited for the light to dissipate, then scooped out a black, gelatinous substance from within.
It remained a perfectly integrated whole, with no residue left in the furnace.
Ninglu tilted his head back and drank the Sequence 8 "Barbarian" Potion.
