Chapter 194: Traitor to Humanity

~8 min read 1,479 words

Ninglu pondered for a moment and finally decided to step into the trap Slauda had prepared for him.

From his memories of Slauda's actions, he could confirm that the Eldar Exarch was a dangerous figure lurking in the shadows.

Today was the best opportunity to eliminate this viper.

The Primarch did not believe he would lose to Slauda, who was wielding the Sword of Vaul.

If he could capture Slauda, he could also dig out information about the Cabal and the secret to creating Perpetuals from his mind.

Ninglu knew that the members of the Cabal came from various intelligent species in the galaxy, which naturally included the Eldar and humans.

Their goal was to eliminate Chaos at any cost and save the galaxy.

In the Cabal's current plan, the race to be sacrificed was the young human civilization.

They had been operating in secret for millions of years, recruiting psykers and Perpetuals since the era of Old Terra, quietly changing the course of major events to ensure the development of human history aligned with the Cabal's interests.

Unlike Cabal Agent Damon Prytanis and John Grammaticus, he was wholeheartedly loyal to the Cabal, even using the derogatory term "mon-keigh" that the Eldar used for humans to refer to his own race.

Shortly after the Iwo Jima Campaign ended, he was recruited by the Cabal as an Assassin; his life as a traitor to humanity was too numerous to record, and he had successively killed "good men" and "brothers."

In M19, he assassinated Holiad at the Manus Glass Temple; in M22, he assassinated Mather Hassan at the Open Spire; and in M30, he assassinated the notorious Pan-Pacific Empire Tyrant, Nathan Doom.

For Ninglu, who was to become the "Black Emperor," the Cabal was undoubtedly his enemy.

The key was that the Cabal already viewed him as a threat; mastering the situation of this mysterious organization would allow him to respond more effectively.

At the same time, the Cabal was also the only force Ninglu knew of, besides Huang Laohan, that possessed the secret of artificial Perpetuals.

Slauda had used the mysteries obtained from the Cabal to resurrect John and turn him into a Perpetual.

By mastering the mysteries of the Perpetuals, Ninglu could turn capable subordinates like Arsena Dunn and Malena Skala into Perpetuals, giving them more sufficient time to ascend to higher Tiers.

【Slauda also mastered the "War Mask," as well as the mysteries he gained after walking multiple Paths.

Even if the Sword of Vaul were not a psychic material, it would still be a powerful weapon.】

Thinking of this, Ninglu made his decision; seeing that the Biel-Tan armed forces in front of the Governor's mansion had all been eliminated, he spoke up.

"Leave three squads behind and take this Eldar and the other spoils back to the Shadow of Sovereignty."

He strode forward, and with every step he took, the Blood-Colored Chain restored the Spirituality he had consumed.

Stepping into the palace, he killed the sporadic Eldar he encountered along the way.

A moment later, he arrived in the depths of the palace and looked at Francesc Soler.

The Governor laughed loudly and said mockingly.

"Lord Ninglu, thank you for your timely rescue."

"Audacious!"

The Honor Guard glared at Governor Soler, and immediately four Order Shadows strode up the marble stairs.

"Ignorant, the great Aeldari, the children of A'su'yan, are the noble race."

"As ignorant mon-keigh, we should serve our masters."

"Only in this way will we receive enlightenment."

Hearing this, Ninglu was thoughtful.

【Did Slauda also walk the Path of the Mind or the Path of Deception?

Hmm, Grammaticus's will is not so easily manipulated; it should be the Path of Deception.】

Ninglu learned a little more about his enemy and became even more determined to eliminate Slauda, this viper in the shadows.

His consciousness spread toward Francesc Soler.

"No!"

The Governor let out a miserable cry as he saw scene after scene:

The noble race he worshipped being shot to death by bolters.

The enlightenment promised by the Eldar was just a lie to him; he was being played with like a fool.

The scenes Francesc Soler saw caused him to collapse instantly.

The Governor knelt on the ground in pain, pounding the floor with his fists.

"Fake! It's all fake!"

His eyes were split, and his fists were bloody, but the images continued to emerge in his mind.

Using Mind-type psionic powers, Ninglu revealed the cruel reality to the traitor Francesc Soler, causing him to die in terror.

The moment the Governor died, he keenly sensed that as if a mechanism had been triggered, the entire space changed.

The hidden Psionic Array was triggered, and the Governor's palace rumbled and trembled.

The marble floor beneath his feet cracked, first undulating like ripples on water, then completely collapsing and shattering.

Accompanied by a sharp, deafening roar, a brand-new deep valley opened its pitch-black maw beneath the feet of the Order Shadows.

Weiershier was the first to react; before he could warn the other members of the Honor Guard, he dashed to the Gene-Father's side like lightning.

The Primarch glanced at him with slight surprise, compared him with the data of the 524 members of the current Honor Guard, and immediately confirmed that this quick-reacting offspring was named Weiershier.

【He is the only one recommended by Bradshaw and Hollis; their judgment is not bad.】

The Primarch's thoughts turned rapidly, and his attention returned to dealing with the collapsing ground.

"Psykers, raise your shields and protect the guard members beside you."

Arsena Dunn and the other psykers in the Honor Guard raised their Field Shields and Psychic Shields to protect the surrounding Order Shadows.

The next instant, the gaping maw swallowed everyone along with the landslide-like rolling rubble and falling marble debris.

Ninglu struggled to maintain his Balance while falling; he raised his left arm to protect his head.

He sheathed his Power Sword back at his waist, twisted his body, reached out to grab Weiershier's arm, and pulled him over.

The rumbling roar of the rock collapse then drowned out all sound, and everyone fell rapidly into the dark, blurry underground world.

For a moment, Weiershier felt as if this were endless, but he felt no panic; he even felt proud.

Among all the members of the Honor Guard, only he had fulfilled his duty.

Weiershier had already realized that the entirety of Arenis was a conspiracy, and that the despicable Xenos and the foolish governor who had defected to them had the Gene-Father as their target.

When he was steadied by the Primarch, he felt his heart and mind surge with emotion, and he immediately forced himself to break free from that feeling of filial devotion.

He tried his best to determine the situation around him and search for the enemy.

But his helmet's display screen was full of chaotic signals and could not provide any data.

A few seconds later, his helmet's field of vision gradually stabilized.

Weiershier turned his head and saw numerous tunnels spreading out in every direction, winding and twisting into the Darkness.

He saw squads of Eldar in the passageways, standing at the ready, looking up at them.

Weiershier was even more certain that the Xenos had laid an ambush long ago.

Weiershier contacted the other members of the Honor Guard through his helmet's built-in communicator, but there was no response; the communication channel was filled with interference.

He checked his target-seeking system, threat indicators, and proximity scans again, but all yielded nothing.

Weiershier attempted to use the gift from the Gene-Father to perceive the surrounding environment.

He immediately discovered that he was like an ordinary boy returning to a blurred memory.

【Some kind of interference method of the Xenos.】

As Weiershier pondered, he had already fallen into the tunnel, and gravel pelted his armor.

He felt the Primarch's hand leave his arm, and a calm voice sounded, filling his body with strength.

"Follow me."

Weiershier hurriedly followed Ninglu, and they advanced through the tunnel.

Suddenly, the Primarch spoke.

"The enemy is coming."

Weiershier looked around vigilantly, but did not find any trace of an enemy.

The Order Shadow did not lower his guard; he knew the Gene-Father would not be wrong.

Suddenly, ripples seemed to vibrate within his black eyes.

Enemies clad in green armor and wielding Chainswords rushed out from the Darkness.

On the chest of every green-armored Eldar was imprinted a yellow rune.

The upper part of the rune was an upright triangle with two curved, horn-like arcs extending from it.

The lower part consisted of a vertical line passing through three horizontal lines, connecting to the triangle above.

Weiershier immediately raised his bolter and fired bolts at the Xenos.

The Order Shadow widened his eyes; the bolts hit the green armor with precision, but failed to cause the slightest damage to the Xenos.
