Chapter 90: Black Jazz Royal Court (Happy Lantern Festival)
"The name of this secret organization is the Royal Court."
Ninglu clarified the meaning to the six Order Shadow extraordinarys:
"Black is the representative color of the Legion; I am the monarch, and you are the subjects."
"Although the numbers are still few, there are another twenty-nine people to whom I have granted power currently undergoing Gaizao Shouhu."
"I will grant more power within the Legion in the future, so there is a strict promotion system within the Royal Court, and it has nothing to do with your status in the Legion."
The six Order Shadows did not speak, but curious gazes flickered in their eyes, different from the Legion's rank system.
"The standard of measurement will be the number of times I grant you power; although you are of superhuman physique, you must still understand the meaning of the power I grant before you can undergo the next enhancement."
"You are currently Knights, the next enhancement is Lord, followed in order by Baron, Viscount, Count, Marquis, and Duke."
Ninglu combined the Sequence 6 "Corrupted Baron," Sequence 4 "Duluo Count," and Sequence 2 "Duke of Entropy" to name the third, fifth, and seventh enhancements, and supplemented them with the two ranks of Viscount and Marquis.
He also added the two titles of Knight and Lord before Baron, completing the entire rank system of the Royal Court.
"Then, now, listen well to the first order I issue."
"It is forbidden to mention the abilities I have granted you to any non-Royal Court members, including your battle-brothers."
The severity contained in the words made the five descendants feel alarmed, and they immediately answered in unison.
"Now you should return and convey my philosophy to more Order Shadows."
After the six descendants left, Ninglu sent a message to Malena Skala.
On the way to the "Cultivator," he returned to the "Kingdom of Disorder" to concoct the "Physician" Potion.
A moment later, Malena Skala, with her broad and smooth forehead, looked at Ninglu's outstretched palm with a smile.
"Another granting of power."
The Biochemical Psionic woman revealed a perfect smile; having experienced a mind-link, she had a fairly deep understanding of Ninglu's inner heart.
Although Ninglu skillfully used mental techniques to conceal most of his secrets, Malena could still perceive a part of his inner heart.
The mysterious sense of distance lessened slightly, and she had a deeper understanding of the existence known as a Primarch after Ninglu returned to the Imperium.
Ninglu possessed god-like combat power, but he also possessed emotions, only he rarely expressed them.
This was because of his status, and even more because he possessed power; the crises mortals encountered, like the predators she herself encountered during that Warp voyage, were merely a small trouble to them, and not many things would shock them.
The "Cultivator" picked up the white potion while speaking and drank it in one gulp.
A moment later, she reined in the surging power overflowing from her and asked in a low voice.
"'Physician'?"
"That's right, I will arrange a new role for you, allowing you to quickly master power, but it won't be very pleasant at the beginning."
Malena's thick yet delicate eyebrows arched as she asked tentatively.
"Milaojiapans?"
She knew that Howard Fender and the others were divided into an independent layer of the area in the upper decks to undergo Space Marine transformation.
"That's right," Ninglu nodded, "I hope you can participate in Astartes transformation."
Apothecaries are responsible for recovering Gene-seed, but most do not do it directly; at least, they do not fully complete the recruit transformation surgery themselves.
Under normal circumstances, their role during the recruit transformation surgery is to supervise the whole process, rather than doing it themselves.
He knew even better that the recruits currently recruited by each Legion from Terra were undergoing transformation on the moon, and there was no Apothecary participation in the process, which was mainly handled by members of the "Sailina Jiyin Jiaopai."
Ninglu could arrange for Malena to get in, but winning the trust of the Apothecaries was not an easy process.
He looked at Malena and stated his purpose.
"The Vostonia soldiers undergoing transformation are too old, and the risk of transformation surgery failure is very high."
"As a 'Physician,' you can keep some people alive in the event of failure."
Ninglu said meaningfully: "You will learn a lot from it and benefit in the future."
The "Mother" path is just as its name suggests; starting from the middle sequences, one can begin to create living beings, and after high sequences, the creations will even possess souls.
As a Biochemical Psionic, Malena could use psionics to analyze the composition of biological tissues and manipulate and change them.
Combined, the two have a multiplicative effect.
Ninglu thought highly of Malena; she was an extraordinary he was focusing on cultivating.
"I believe in you; with the ability you have granted me, I will soon be able to win their trust."
A glow flickered in Malena's tea-brown pupils as she said confidently.
"Follow me."
After Ninglu made Malena understand the significance of joining the Apothecary team, he took her toward the Milaojiapans.
Taking the elevator dedicated to the Primarch, the two descended to the Milaojiapans.
Stepping into the hall, what came into their view was a busy and orderly gene laboratory.
The Apothecaries had already completed the installation of all equipment, and the air was filled with the special scent of disinfectant and metal fusion.
Under the towering ceiling, intricate pipes wound like veins, transporting various liquids and energy to the equipment to maintain the lives of those undergoing transformation and promote the transformation process.
Leaning against the metal walls were individual organ cultivation tanks; after the hearts, lungs, and other organs required for the transformation surgery were generated, intern Apothecaries used testing instruments to check them one by one.
Apothecary attendants wearing black robes were scattered throughout hundreds of transformation chambers separated by tempered glass covers, gathered beside metal surgical beds.
The Apothecaries monitored the surgeries in a dozen transformation chambers respectively and personally completed the more difficult procedures of the transformation.
Ninglu glanced at the Milaojiapans and was immediately attracted to the transformation chamber twenty-five meters away; the number on it was IV.
Mikel and another Apothecary were gathered beside a metal surgical bed, surrounded by a dozen attendants in black robes.
A completely naked person lay on the metal surgical bed, his body shaking violently, as if he were being electrocuted.
Ninglu determined at a glance the identity of the Candidate undergoing transformation: Luoersiliefu, who had followed him the earliest, the Leader of the First Regiment, a "Fighter" who had recently been promoted.
He felt a sense of foreboding in his heart and strode toward the No. 4 transformation chamber, with Malena following him closely.
Ten meters from the chamber, Luoersiliefu's body suddenly stopped convulsing and slammed stiffly onto the surgical bed.
Mikel retracted the medical kit on his left arm and said helplessly.
"Resuscitation failed, the Candidate is dead!"
Ninglu heard the cold voice of the Chief Apothecary, and his Spirit Vision also confirmed Mikel's judgment.
He looked at Malena beside him, a glimmer of hope flashing in his eyes.
Malena understood and walked toward the Gaizao Shouhu chamber.
"Primarch!"
Mikel heard the attendants' shouts and looked outside the chamber; upon seeing the Gene-Father, a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he then walked quickly to the chamber door and opened it.
He ran into a mortal face-to-face and was just about to rebuke them when he heard the Father speak.
"She is a 'Physician', let her take a look."
【A Physician? The Candidate is already dead; a mortal Doctor cannot save him.】
Though doubtful in his heart, Mikel still immediately executed the Primarch's order; he stepped back to the side, letting Malena walk in.
Malena walked quickly to the side of the operating table, and another apothecary and the attendants cleared a path for her.
She activated her Spirit Vision; unlike the "Gravedigger" whose focus was on the domain of Death, the "Physician's" Spirit Vision focused more on the domain of health.
Malena only scanned him once before confirming that Luoersiliefu's bodily organs were inevitably heading toward Death, but she still examined him twice more before shaking her head at Ninglu.
Ninglu felt dejected; he knew the dangers of the adult Gaizao Shouhu, but he had not expected to witness Luoersiliefu's death with his own eyes.
He was the earliest follower and also the most loyal, yet he did not die on the battlefield, but on a cold operating table.
【Luoersiliefu was the oldest, and the possibility of death was the highest.
Even if he had not undergone the Gaizao Shouhu, as someone who could not advance to a high Tier, even if he relied on the best life-extension surgeries to sustain himself, he could only live for a few hundred years at most.】
After a moment of sorrow, Ninglu spoke to Mikel and the others.
"You all go out first."
"Malena, stay."
He needed to recover the Beyonder characteristic left behind after the death of a Beyonder.
"Yes."
Mikel knew that these Candidates followed the Primarch, and they held a special status in his heart.
【The Primarch wants to say goodbye to him.】
After the apothecaries and attendants exited the Gaizao Shouhu chamber, Ninglu walked in.
