Chapter 811: Fearless Choice
"Ryan Augustus?" Sanavia's voice was a little hoarse.
It was her natural voice, speaking very smoothly, completely lacking the sluggishness she had when first communicating with the split‑brain crystal, clearly she had been pretending before, but now with no one else present, she stopped pretending.
However, she seemed unfamiliar with Lei En's name, her tone a bit bewildered.
"Um…"
Lei En's smile froze on his face as he asked awkwardly, "You've never heard of me?"
Sanavia slowly shook her head.
That shouldn't be!
Lei En found it unbelievable; it had been a long time since he'd met anyone who didn't know his full name, even if they were a Lich. Gotham City had been built on the New Continent for almost a year, and a few months earlier he'd fought a massive battle against the Cataclysm Legion, nearly striking Fu Kong Cheng outside Yongge City. Logically, Sanavia should have heard of him.
"Less than half a year ago, during the Cataclysm Legion's assault on Yongge City, General Sanavia didn't take part?" Lei En asked, puzzled.
"No." Sanavia replied in a low voice, "Death Lord left me at Ice Crown Fortress, and only after the battle did he send me into Fu Kong Cheng."
"No wonder…"
Lei En's mind cleared, "The Death Lord suspects the lady?"
"No, it was probably just a coincidence." Sanavia's tone was certain as she explained, "Whenever he goes out, he leaves at least six Apocalypse Knights to guard Ice Crown Fortress; the selections are usually fixed, rotating in turns, and last time it happened to be my turn."
Six Apocalypse Knights on guard!
Lei En couldn't help his curiosity, wondering if he could probe the Cataclysm Legion's interior, and asked, "How many Apocalypse Knights serve under the Death Lord?"
"To my knowledge there are eighteen." Sanavia replied in detail, "The four strongest Apocalypse Knights are around Thirty-level, and Mogra is one of them. Five other Apocalypse Knights are above th Level, including me; the rest are below th Level."
Lei En listened, his eyes wide in amazement.
Good heavens, a full eighteen Apocalypse Knights!
"Mogra is already dead." He announced, "Kurdatz and Ai Long *Rivennat I also killed, leaving only fifteen Apocalypse Knights."
Sanavia's crimson eyes flickered, clearly surprised.
She was silent for a few seconds, then shook her head, "Kurdatz had just been promoted, filling Ai Long *Rivennat's vacancy. After the loss of Apocalypse Knights, the Death Lord will soon select the strongest Death Knight to promote and fill the slot, keeping the number at eighteen."
It won't end there…
Lei En couldn't help a headache; the Cataclysm Legion was Gotham City's greatest enemy, and sooner or later a full‑scale war with them would come, so preparations were needed early.
"What about the Death Knot Sigils?" he continued.
"I'm not very clear." Sanavia replied bluntly, "Death Knot Sigils are all casters; they operate independently of the Cataclysm Legion, having several secret bases on the Carnod Ice Plains, rarely coming to Ice Crown Fortress. Only during joint battles do those casters interact with us."
She paused, then added, "However, I've been in the Cataclysm Legion for two hundred years; apart from Korstted, I've seen four different Holy Soul Liches."
Lei En nodded.
Korstted's soul had already scattered, and the Death Knot Sigils still had at least four Holy Soul Liches—absolutely not to be underestimated!
While he was still pondering, Sanavia suddenly asked, "Speaker Lei En, where has Fu Kong Cheng leapt to?"
"Oriense Empire."
Lei En's answer made Sanavia's crimson eyes brighten, and she whispered, "Empire…"
"To be precise, Fu Kong Cheng is in Mo Du, descending onto my domain Gral Morgan." Lei En gestured, and the room's walls turned transparent, revealing the outside view.
Under the night sky, the distant horizon was ablaze with lights, like a city that never sleeps, brimming with the aura of civilization and life.
The crowd watching outside Fu Kong Cheng also raised noisy chatter.
It was just an ordinary night view, yet Sanavia stared unblinkingly; her eyesight was keen, noticing something high above. Looking up, she saw, beneath the star‑filled sky, a floating city cloaked in magical radiance, like a dream.
Sanavia stood there, seemingly dazed.
"How wonderful!"
After a long while, she let out a sigh, laden with indescribable complex emotions.
Lei En sensed that this Apocalypse Knight longed for and yearned for the world of the living; a Lich, yet possessing emotions richer than those of a mortal.
"General Sanavia."
The Apocalypse Knight's attention returned to Lei En, listening intently, and he said, "If—if there were a chance to resurrect you, to regain vitality, though it might fail and cause your soul to dissipate, would you be willing to try?"
Before Lei En could finish, Sanavia's gaze flared wildly.
"You mean?" she hurriedly asked.
"The Full Resurrection Technique." Lei En replied.
Holy Blood Amber can invoke the Full Resurrection Technique once every seven days, consuming a massive amount of Holy Light power; he currently had plenty of energy to spare.
According to Ai Lun E Si's common knowledge, turning a living person into a Lich is almost irreversible.
Because a Lich's soul belongs to the Lord of the Dead.
But there is an exception: the Nine Ring Divine Technique—Full Resurrection Technique.
However, the Full Resurrection Technique is not guaranteed to succeed; after all, it wrests a soul from the terrifying Lord of the Dead. Even if He does not retaliate—most do not—there is still a fifty‑percent chance of failure, causing the revived soul to vanish completely.
Sanavia's case was special; she was an experimental product of the Augulevi Master, her soul unbound and possessing free will.
Lei En estimated the Full Resurrection Technique's success rate on her to exceed ninety percent, even ninety‑nine percent!
But he didn't finish the sentence.
Upon hearing "Full Resurrection Technique," Sanavia's gaze froze, motionless, yet Lei En's Soul Eye sensed she was in extreme agitation, her soul color flickering rapidly, rendering her momentarily speechless.
"Really?" Sanavia finally spoke, her voice trembling.
Lei En nodded solemnly.
A Lich need not breathe, yet Sanavia's chest rose rapidly, and the smoke veiling her face swayed, hard to keep steady.
Gradually, her mood steadied.
Emerging from the huge surprise, she suddenly fell into silence, not speaking for a long while.
The Soul Eye saw Sanavia's thoughts locked in fierce conflict, as if two choices lay before her, extremely hesitant and tangled.
Lei En thought she feared resurrection failure, so he explained, "General, given your situation, the success rate is above ninety percent, and the chance of failure is extremely low."
Sa Na Wei Ya looked up at him and said, "I do not fear failure; for over two hundred years I have nothing left to lose."
"Then what are you still hesitating about?" Lei En asked, not understanding.
Sa Na Wei Ya was silent for a few seconds, as if making a decision, then slowly and firmly said, "I am not preparing to resurrect."
"What?"
Lei En was greatly startled.
Such a once‑in‑a‑millennium opportunity lay before them, yet Sa Na Wei Ya gave it up, leaving him in utter disbelief, thinking he had misheard.
"I will stay in the Heaven Disaster Legion." Sa Na Wei Ya showed no hesitation, regaining an undead‑like calm and indifference, and whispered, "Eternal Song City does not lack a ranger general; even if I resurrect, I cannot offer much help, and those departed kin cannot return."
"However, if I continue to stay in the Heaven Disaster Legion, following the Death Lord as an Apocalypse Knight, I can exert a greater influence."
She looked at Lei En, her scarlet eyes filled with endless hatred.
"I will take revenge."
"As long as I can destroy the Heaven Disaster Legion and avenge all the dead blood‑elf brethren, even if I forever bear this hideous visage, I am willing."
These words sounded like a vow, light as a feather, yet heavier than life itself.
Lei En was deeply shocked.
At the same time he grew to admire Sa Na Wei Ya; if it were him, he would never pay such a price for revenge. It is hard to imagine how much pain, torment, and suffering Sa Na Wei Ya endured over the past two hundred years to hate the Heaven Disaster Legion so deeply.
Such a tenacious Willpower, such a resolute choice, truly commands awe.
Lei En sighed once and said nothing more.
He asked softly, "Should I convey this to Lord A Si Qiong Ge?"
Sa Na Wei Ya hesitated, then shook her head, "No need. The fewer who know, the better. General Sa Na Wei Ya has been dead for over two hundred years; family and friends are gone, no need to make the clan worry. When I complete my revenge, I will reclaim my title."
"I understand," Lei En nodded.
He thought inwardly, "Being an undercover is the most dangerous job in the world; her chance to regain her status is slim," and said, "General Sa Na Wei Ya, the Heaven Disaster Legion is also my greatest enemy. Gotham City and Eternal Song City have forged an alliance of mutual defense; you can trust me completely."
Sa Na Wei Ya said lightly, "I will keep in touch and wait for the chance."
She pointed to the collar of her armor.
The split‑brain crystal was hidden there; through it she could contact Lei En at any distance.
Lei En reminded, "Before the general meets the Death Lord, it's best not to bring it, in case the Death Lord discovers it…"
"What is this?" Sa Na Wei Ya asked.
"It's a magical item I crafted," Lei En explained. "You can treat it as one of my avatars; it can see, hear, and sense the surroundings. If needed, it can aid you in battle."
As he spoke, the split‑brain crystal detached from the armor, hovering like a metal fragment, emitting a faint psychic pulse.
Sa Na Wei Ya examined it for a moment, then reintegrated it into her armor.
Lei En lifted his hand.
The other two split‑brain crystals hidden in the Floating City were transmitted to his hand. "General, take them all, hide them in different places; if one is lost, you have a backup."
"Alright."
Sa Na Wei Ya took the two metal fragments, slipped them into her waist, and said, "I must return to Ka Nuo De Icefield as soon as possible, preferably near the area before the Floating City, so as not to arouse the Death Lord's suspicion."
"I'll arrange it immediately."
Lei En thought for a moment, then quickly reassigned the Extreme Warrior guarding the teleport array, leaving only the Thundercast Celestial Soldier.
"All right, General, follow me." He opened a portal leading to Ge La Mo Gen Castle.
Sa Na Wei Ya did not enter at once, gazing at Mo Du's nightscape.
Lei En waited patiently.
A few minutes later, Sa Na Wei Ya finally lowered her gaze and, without a hint of reluctance, stepped into the portal, arriving at the castle's teleport hall.
The Thundercast Celestial Soldier stationed in the hall kept its eyes fixed straight ahead.
Lei En escorted her through Sword Bay Town, arriving at Gotham's highland fortress; the teleport array to the Dragonbone Wasteland was still active. Stepping onto it, the two appeared in an ice cave, a little over a hundred li from the former location of the Floating City.
"We have arrived."
Lei En pointed to the biting wind and snow outside the ice cave.
"Thank you." Sa Na Wei Ya gave a slight nod and immediately walked toward the cave entrance.
"This resurrection chance I will keep for you; you may change your mind anytime, just tell me," Lei En said to her back.
Sa Na Wei Ya halted, turned her back to Lei En, raised a hand in a wave, and without looking back walked out of the entrance, into the wind and snow, vanishing in the endless darkness.
Lei En looked at the entrance and sighed.
With her departure, she might never be seen again.
"This ice cave cannot remain; we must move it elsewhere." Lei En looked around, stepped onto the teleport array, and after he vanished, the two Thundercast Celestial Soldiers here immediately began dismantling the array, preparing to select another concealed spot nearby.
Lei En quickly returned to the Floating City; the Extreme Warrior resumed its post, and everything seemed as if nothing had happened.
It was deep into the night.
Six camps of the Holy Spear Knight Corps had rotated combat four times; the 200,000‑strong Undead Army was reduced to under 50,000, having absorbed over 30,000 units of energy, most of which was converted into Holy Light Power to empower Sheng Ji Lie Si and Blood Knights, the remainder consumed by eleven Mage clones.
Sheng Ji Lie Si remained at th Level.
Nine Blood Knights each advanced to Legendary High‑rank, each consuming over a thousand units of Holy Light Power, and will soon reach Legendary Peak.
One Blood Knight advancing to Holy Blood Angel requires nearly five thousand units of Holy Light Power.
Lei En calculated the energy; even if all remaining Undead were harvested, the converted Holy Light Power would only suffice to promote two Holy Blood Angels.
Sheng Ji Lie Si already exists, so Holy Blood Angels are not lacking for now.
It is still more cost‑effective to allocate the energy to Mage clones; mages upgrade easily, reaching level nineteen without much energy, but level alone provides no combat power, requiring additional energy for them to construct spell models.
Each Mage clone must master at least thirty spells to achieve sufficient combat capability.
Eleven mages amount to over three hundred spells.
Training a mage is far more difficult than training a Blood Knight; the required energy combined is essentially a bottomless pit!
Lei En suddenly felt that the mage clones he created seemed too many.
However, there's nothing to regret; the greater the early investment, the greater the later harvest. Having chosen this path, one must see it through to the end. He looks forward to the day when all his mage clones advance to Grand Mage, at which point he alone could form the Supreme Council!
Thus, aside from the electricity used to create Thundercast Celestial Soldiers, all remaining power was poured into the mage clones.
The battle in Fu Kong Cheng continued without cease.
Until dawn, 200,000 undead, along with large numbers of death knights, necromancers, and liches, were completely wiped out by the Holy Spear Knight Corps, leaving only a single, exceptionally special necromancer.
Lei En unintentionally discovered the opponent, who was teleported to appear before him.
"It's you!"
The necromancer screamed, his pale face filled with panic and despair, turning to flee.
