Chapter 812: Summons from the Supreme Council
The undead wizard's flash was cut off.
Immediately after, she found the surrounding space compressing, as if solidified, immobilizing her whole body, leaving only her head able to turn and speak.
Stagnant force field!
The undead wizard was horrified to the point of despair, fully realizing the gap between her and Lei En.
Lei En stared at her expressionlessly and said lightly, "Falinna, long time no see."
A few years ago, on the first day I arrived at Weizelan Fu Kong Cheng, I was attacked by a red‑haired wizard; if it weren't for the Willpower of Truth granting immunity to the Truth‑binding Spell, I might have been killed on the spot by Disintegrate.
And the attacker was Falinna.
She thought her disguise was perfect and even evaded Speaker Kaidejia's tracking, but she didn't know that Lei En recognized her at first glance later.
Lei En, in order to investigate the conspiracy, kept a low profile at the time; Falinna disappeared during the Disaster Legion's invasion of Weizelan. All along, Falinna's family and friends thought she was dead, but she had fled to her teacher Korstted and become an undead wizard.
The Soul Eye observed briefly; Falinna is currently a ninth‑rank undead wizard, stuck at the bottleneck of breaking through the Legendary stage.
For superhumans below Legendary, dealing with Lei En is no harder than crushing an ant.
At once, Falinna felt a terrifying pressure.
"Lei En, I—I..." she looked panicked, but as a gifted wizard she quickly steadied herself, forcing a miserable smile onto her face, "Lei En, I didn't join the Disaster Legion; Korstted forced me away. Here, I think every day of returning to Weizelan!"
"Is that so?" Lei En sneered, "How does it feel to be an undead wizard?"
Falinna shook her head desperately, "I'm not an undead..."
Lich, black wizard, and undead wizard are distinct.
Liches are the most powerful; a ritual is required to transform them into undead beings. Black wizards and undead wizards are living people; black wizards loot other superhumans' Elements and have unstable minds. Undead wizards are casters of necromancy spells; at first they look ordinary, but prolonged exposure to death energy eventually turns them into liches.
Falinna has been an undead wizard only for a few years; if she hides well enough, outsiders find it hard to notice.
Of course, she has no secrets at all in front of Lei En.
"Heaven's Light."
Lei En casually cast Wish Spell, and a holy beam shone down from above, cutting off Falinna's evasive words; black smoke rose from her skin, and she let out a painful wail.
When the light faded, Falinna looked as if she had aged decades, gaunt and withered; her once beautiful appearance turned hideously ugly, and her body emitted a nauseating stench.
"No..."
Falinna screamed in despair; this state made her feel worse than death.
She glared at Lei En, her eyes filled with madness and hatred, shouting, "Lei En, I bear you no grudge; why are you treating me like this? I have never killed a Weizelan wizard; what does your feud with the teacher have to do with me?"
As she spoke, her tone grew lower, pleading, "Lei En, please spare me. I truly did nothing; everything was forced upon me by the teacher."
"You attacked me on the street because Korstted forced you?" Lei En retorted scornfully.
Falinna's expression froze, "So you knew."
"I know everything," Lei En hummed, "And I'm a grudging person, but I won't kill you, because you're a member of Weizelan; you can only be handed over to the Weizelan Council for judgment."
Having said that, he ignored Falinna.
She tried to argue and struggle, but found the Stagnant force field tightening, rendering her completely unable to make a sound.
A few minutes later, a portal opened before them, and a wizard with white hair but a youthful face stepped out, saying, "Lei En, what do you need from me? The whole world is waiting for you to go out..." He paused, saw Falinna, frowned, "Undead wizard? You are Falinna?"
"Speaker Kaidejia, it's her," Lei En nodded, "Do you remember the day I first arrived at Weizelan and was attacked? It was her who did it."
Kaidejia looked somewhat surprised.
He looked at Falinna's current state, pondered briefly, and said gravely, "Lei En, rest assured, I know how to handle this."
As he spoke, he waved his staff, and Void Chains bound Falinna, sending her into the portal.
Before entering the portal, Kaidejia turned back, surveyed the control room, and said, "Lei En, many people outside are looking for you; the Fu Kong Cheng incident is too far‑reaching, your Fu Kong Cheng cannot fly for now, and its protective barrier cannot be activated; you must stay on guard."
It was a friendly reminder; Lei En knew Kaidejia had no ulterior motives.
"Thank you, Speaker Kaidejia, I will be careful."
"I'm leaving first."
Kaidejia said that and stepped into the portal.
Lei En watched the portal close, his face showing contemplation.
At that moment, all the undead in the Fu Kong Cheng had been eradicated; the lower levels were littered with corpses, the stench overwhelming, and if not dealt with promptly, could breed plague and spread.
Purifying so many bodies and death energy is certainly a massive undertaking.
Lei En shook his head, deciding to let it go and leave the next owner of Fu Kong Cheng to worry about it.
He double‑checked that no undead remained inside Fu Kong Cheng; after the Holy Spear Knight Corps fully withdrew, he immediately sealed the city's entrance completely, leaving a few Thundercast Celestial Soldiers to continue repairing the control room's main door, which would still need half a day to finish.
Then, Lei En teleported to a magical testing chamber.
When the undead were eliminated last night, a group of Thundercast Celestial Soldiers had already swept the upper and middle levels of Fu Kong Cheng clean, moving almost all valuable items away.
Now only the semi‑plane before us remains.
Lei En stood before the magical gate, the All-Seeing Eye studied for a moment, then drew the Soul-Eating Blade and drove it into the wall, applying force with his hand.
The sturdy wall was sliced open like tofu, revealing a narrow space hidden within.
A single Origin Stone was placed inside.
The Origin Stone is an irregular gem about the size of a fist, its color chaotic, like black and white fused together, constantly shifting, emitting energy waves reminiscent of deep void. Because the rune array is damaged, energy cannot flow into the stone; its internal semi‑plane is shrinking, but the contraction is extremely slow, taking at least several decades to fully collapse.
Lei En did not enter the semi‑plane; he stepped forward and grasped the Origin Stone.
With a gentle lift, the Origin Stone detached from the rune array; its weight was astonishingly heavy, nearly three thousand pounds, its surface icy, and there was nothing else to feel.
The Origin Stone cannot be placed into a dimensional space ring.
Lei En opened a portal back to Glamorgan Castle, handed it to a Thundercast Celestial Soldier, who delivered it to the Obsidian Tower, placing it in a secret chamber on the ninth floor of the high tower.
This semi‑plane is of immense value; I must think carefully how to use it.
Just as I stepped out of the transfer hall, the wind‑elf butler rushed over in a panic, looking as if he had found a savior, and quickly said, "Master, you finally returned!"
"What's the matter?" Lei En had already guessed the reason.
"Several distinguished guests visited the castle: Vice President Akaland, Viscount Stoynde, Countess Pumoer, Marquis Jiliu, and several Empire senators who rushed over from Nuosiruier. They have been in the reception hall since last night until now." Fabian looked frazzled, but his eyes held an unmistakable joy, and his spirit was very vibrant.
Lei En was indifferent, "What's the rush? Let them wait."
"But Lady Viola has also arrived."
Fabian stepped forward two paces and whispered, "Also Queen Emillys; she stayed last night with Prince Rex in the castle's guest rooms. In the deep night, Lady Oxyriya came to take a look and left."
Lei En, who had originally a relaxed expression, suddenly felt a headache, stopped and asked, "Did Viola and Emillys meet?"
Fabian gave a slight nod.
"No conflict, right?" Lei En asked again.
"No." Fabian's expression was odd, as if he were gloating but dared not show it, "The two ladies chatted a few sentences and then went their separate ways. Lady Viola even praised Prince Rex, saying he was handsome, as if he were carved from the same mold as the adults; the atmosphere was very harmonious."
Lei En exhaled, "That's good."
He usually tries to keep the women apart, not giving them chances to meet; they have formed an unspoken understanding, treating other women as if they do not exist.
It seems now that Viola and Emillys are still very magnanimous, at least maintaining cordiality on the surface.
Fortunately Asina is not here!
She has spent the past half year adventuring on the western coast of the New Continent with DaonSos and Belak, originally planning to come to Getan, but was delayed by an incident. If Asina were present and encountered Oxyriya, a clash between a giant and a dragon could easily become the spark that sets the backyard ablaze.
Lei En glanced at the sky, which had just brightened, "Have Viola and Emillys gotten up?"
"Not yet," Fabian replied.
"Let them sleep a little longer," Lei En instructed, though he knew the two women were likely sleepless, waiting for him in their rooms.
The wind spirit instantly understood.
Lei En entered the castle's reception hall; as soon as he appeared, seven or eight guests rose and called him by different titles:
"Lei En."
"Lord Count."
"Speaker Lei En."
These individuals were all of considerable stature—holders of actual noble titles, high‑ranking Empire senators, multimillion‑worth magnates, or powerful transcendents—each an unattainable figure in the eyes of ordinary people. They had been well acquainted with Lei En in the past, even friends of his.
Therefore Fabian dared not keep them outside the castle and invited them in for the evening.
Yet their gazes toward Lei En were completely different from before.
From equal interaction to looking up at him.
Two or three guests even showed a hint of flattery; after greeting, they stood respectfully, awaiting Lei En's response.
Lei En knew exactly what was happening.
Owning a Fu Kong Cheng, even though he had not yet become a Holy Soul Ascension wizard, his status in the eyes of the Empire was already indistinguishable from that of a Holy Soul wizard.
The Fu Kong Cheng is a symbol of power and status!
Among the Twelve Holy Soul Wizards of the Supreme Council, five lack a Fu Kong Cheng and are still inferior to him.
Moreover, after a night of rumors spreading, the campaign to assault the Fu Kong Cheng may already have been disclosed by the participating Weizelan Wizards; his four Saint Rank elites and a powerful transcendental legion have been exposed to the world, and Glamorgan and Gotham City's combined strength rivals any single force of the Empire.
This surpasses the influence of most Holy Soul Wizards; even if he were to break away from Weizelan immediately, no one would dare to provoke him.
"Apologies for keeping you all waiting."
Lei En gave everyone an apologetic smile, as gentle as always, without any pretense, and explained, "There are over two hundred thousand Undead Army in the Fu Kong Cheng; I must deal with them promptly to avoid lingering threats."
"It's fine."
"That's appropriate; eliminating the Undead Army is paramount."
"Exactly, we can wait; there's nothing particularly important anyway, we just wanted to pay our respects to Speaker Lei En."
The guests waved their hands, indicating Lei En need not apologize.
"Everyone, please be seated…"
As Lei En was speaking, a voice of his teacher suddenly rang in his ear; using a projection spell so everyone could hear, it said, "Lei En, come to me at once; the Supreme Council summons you."
Lei En felt a bit embarrassed now.
The guests exchanged puzzled looks; Akaland helplessly shook his head, "Lei En, the Supreme Council's summons must be important; go quickly, don't worry about us."
The others naturally did not dare to block him.
In the Empire, no one dares to refuse a summons from the Supreme Council; even a Consul must defer a matter of great importance.
Lei En nodded and said, "Please return for now; I will invite you to meet later."
Receiving his promise, the guests rose and left.
Lei En had Fabian see the guests off, while he teleported to the top hall of the Weizelan Tower, yet saw no sign of his teacher.
"Come in."
Anxiwodasi's voice came from a room beside the hall.
Lei En knew this was his teacher's projection chamber; he pushed open the door and stepped inside, as if entering another space, appearing within a magnificent palace where massive round columns supported a hundred‑meter‑high dome. The palace had no walls; beyond lay endless darkness, as if floating in the void, and in every direction one could see a dreamlike starry sky.
This was a projection of the Supreme Palace.
In the palace's center stood a bronze long table, with ten high‑back chairs on each side; twelve figures—men, women, old and young, of varied appearance—were now seated.
They were all Holy Soul Wizards of the Supreme Council!
At the far end of the long table stood an even taller seat, seemingly for the host, now empty. It had been Augulevi Master's seat. Behind that chair rose a statue of the God of Magic, its face veiled in mystery, eyes containing starry sky and wisdom, gazing down upon the vast space.
Lei En stood at the far end of the long table, his gaze sweeping over the projections of the Holy Soul Wizards.
To the left of the statue's front, the first seat was occupied by the teacher; beside him sat, in order, Ouroin Master, Prophet Medif, Storm Queen, SilverStarDuke, and Sabbath Dean.
Coincidentally, these six Holy Soul Wizards all belong to the Mo Du faction.
Although Ouroin Master has not yet made a public statement, his vote is already firmly in his hand.
On the other side, the first seat was taken by GreyEagle, TimKainanMaster, followed in order by KangJieladeGreatSage, WantuSui*HowaiMaster, PurpleFlameDuke Magna, Black Robe Duke Tuzlei, and his rival, Hong Shi Duke Kerston.
Apart from the three powerhouses, the seating order in the Supreme Council is arranged by the time of entry; the later one joins, the farther back the seat.
The ones closest to Lei En are Sabbath Dean and Kai Ers Tong.
At this moment, Kai Er Tong Si's face shows no hint of emotion, Lei En also ignores him, only when he glances over the Black Robe Duke's projection does a slight ripple arise in his heart.
This mysterious young Holy Soul Wizard is Augulevi Master's avatar!
"Big brother is watching you."
Lei En recalled the words, and amid the Holy Soul Wizards' varied gazes, he slightly bowed, offering a respectful salute: "Lei En has the honor of meeting all of you Holy Soul Wizards."
The palace fell silent for a few seconds.
The twelve Wizards' attitudes toward Lei En differed; because it was a projection, the Soul Eye could not sense their emotions, yet from their subtle expressions some differences could still be discerned.
Some expressed admiration, some were surprised and curious.
Some were expressionless, seeming not the slightest interest; others wore complex looks, their considerations unknown.
However, not a single Holy Soul Wizard held any contempt for Lei En.
In their eyes, Lei En was no longer a pawn but a player, qualified to stand as an equal with them.
"Lei En."
Anxiwodasi broke the silence and said, "I have summoned you to tell you that the Supreme Council has just passed a resolution, agreeing to make an exception to let you enter the Supreme Council early, becoming the thirteenth member."
Lei En looked at the teacher, his eyes flickering slightly.
The Holy Soul Wizards immediately noticed Lei En's reaction differed from expectations; there was neither joy nor excitement, but an inscrutable calm.
Lei En's next words further left the Holy Soul Wizards utterly astonished:
"Teacher, I personally disagree."
