Chapter 1009: Ancient Fairy

"Here I go!"

Fake Leo said.

"Normal Summon 'Sylvan Hermitree - Little Frog'!"

Still a monster from the Sylvan series, this time it was a small frog. The frog also looked stupid and cute, wearing a black robe like an ancient shaman, muttering something in its mouth, occasionally mixed with "ribbit ribbit" sounds.

【Sylvan Hermitree - Little Frog, ATK 800】

"Little Frog's effect is: when successfully summoned, I can Special Summon one 'Sylvan' monster from the Graveyard!"

Fake Leo said.

"According to this effect, I revive the Tuner monster 'Sylvan Ninja - Bat' from the Graveyard!"

The little bat that had left the field as Synchro material in the first turn flapped its wings and flew back to the field.

【Sylvan Ninja - Bat, ATK 800】

"Level 3 Tuner monster, Sylvan Ninja - Bat!"

"Level 4 'Sylvan Hermitree - Little Frog', tuning!"

【3+4=7】

This time, a smile appeared on the face of Fake Luna in the back row, and she began to chant softly: "Oh, spirit from the land of suppression in the ancient forest, please descend here in a dreamlike form! Synchro Summon—"

"—Duel Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon!!!"

The first thing to emerge from the Synchro pillar of light was a dragon claw entwined with vines, and the dew dripping from the claw tips actually bloomed into crystal flowers in mid-air. When the emerald dragon wings were fully spread, thousands of glowing spores drifted with the wind. The moment the slender body of Ancient Fairy Dragon fully appeared, it was as if all the flowers in the fairy tale forest turned toward its drooping dragon head at the same time. Its pair of pupils, condensed from stardust, seemed to reflect the flowing starry sky.

【Ancient Fairy Dragon, ATK 2100】

"Ho, the trump cards of you two have both appeared." Fujiki You Xuan narrowed his eyes, "Mechanical Dragon and Ancient Fairy, a pair of Duel Dragon combinations that help each other?"

"That's right! This is the symbol of Luna and me working together!" Fake Leo said, "If brother and sister are of one mind, any enemy can be defeated, and any difficulty can be overcome!"

A rare, shallow smile also appeared on Fake Luna's cold and gloomy face: "Hmm, with the power of the broken scarecrow, we can defeat the evil Black Magician."

Fujiki You Xuan tilted his head: "Evil Black Magician, are you talking about me? To say that about me really makes one hurt; there is no duelist more loving than me, I'd say."

The Marshmallow spirit on the side said leisurely: "How should I put it, I think the title 'Evil Black Magician' suits you quite well..."

Fujiki You Xuan rolled his eyes at it, and Marshmallow stuck out its tongue, shrank back into the Deck, and stopped talking.

"Ancient Fairy Dragon's effect activates!" Fake Luna ordered, "When there is a Field Spell on the field, Ancient Fairy Dragon can destroy any one card on the field once per turn."

She looked gloomily at the Magician Girl on Fujiki You Xuan's field.

"Kiwi Magician Girl, must be hiding some special ability. But no matter what ability it is, it doesn't matter, be destroyed!

Holy Burial Field!!!"

Ancient Fairy Dragon raised its slender dragon neck, and its dragon eyes suddenly burst with blinding divine light. The emerald scales all over its body began to resonate, each one refracting prism-like seven-colored halos. As the dragon wings fully spread, thousands of blades of light erupted from within its body.

"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that won't work." Fujiki You Xuan chuckled.

Fake Luna: "Nani?"

"While Kiwi Magician Girl is on the field, all my Spellcaster-Type monsters cannot be targeted by card effects, nor can they be destroyed by card effects." Fujiki You Xuan said lightly.

"So it's not just Kiwi; you can't select Lemon Magician Girl either."

"Tch."

Fake Luna clicked her tongue and said.

"Then I'll destroy the set card in the backrow!"

This was her only choice.

Ancient Fairy Dragon's blades of light traced a meteor shower-like trajectory in the air. All the blades suddenly split and multiplied during flight, turning into a holy light storm that covered the sky in the blink of an eye. They precisely locked onto the target set card, and at the moment of impact, they didn't tear it apart rudely, but like the dawn dissolving darkness, they caused the card to start turning into countless glowing data particles from the edges.

Trap Card, Mirror Force.

"Mirror Force, huh, really picked a good trap." Fake Luna seemed to be in a slightly better mood seeing the destroyed trap, and said, "Then, battle, scarecrow."

Fake Leo muttered: "I already said I'm not some scarecrow... Then, battle!

Go, Ancient Fairy Dragon, attack 'Kiwi Magician Girl'!"

This time, Luna didn't call him reckless again. Fujiki You Xuan's backrow set card was destroyed, and Kiwi's effect had already been tested; even she didn't think there would be any problem with Leo's attack this time.

But Fujiki You Xuan smiled again and revealed another "Kiwi Magician Girl" he had searched for in the previous turn.

"Discard 'Kiwi Magician Girl' from my hand and activate its other effect." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Discard this card from my hand, and all 'Magician Girl' monsters on my field gain ATK and DEF equal to the number of 'Magician Girl' monster types on my field and in my Graveyard x 300!"

Fake Luna was shocked: "This Magician Girl has other abilities?"

"Seems like it." Fujiki You Xuan laughed, "Now on my field and in my Graveyard, there are Lemon Magician Girl, Apple Magician Girl, Berry Magician Girl, and Kiwi Magician Girl, a total of four types.

Therefore, all Magician Girls gain 1200 ATK!"

【Kiwi Magician Girl, ATK 1800 → ATK 3000】

【Lemon Magician Girl, ATK 1200 → ATK 2400】

Instantly surpassed!

Fujiki You Xuan said: "Kiwi Magician Girl, hit back!"

Hearing this, Kiwi stepped on the transparent magic circle and soared into the air, her figure spinning in mid-air as lightly as a butterfly, nimbly dodging the light beam shot by Ancient Fairy. The tip of the girl's staff suddenly erupted with dazzling blue light, and a spiral magic shockwave roared out. That blue energy continuously absorbed magic particles in the air during flight, finally turning into a roaring magic torrent that slammed fiercely into the Fairy Dragon. At the moment of the explosion, the blue light and sparks intertwined into a ten-meter-diameter fireball, and the shockwave shattered the gravel on the ground into powder.

However, when the smoke cleared, Ancient Fairy Dragon was still standing. Its body was burned red-hot, looking miserable, but it actually held on.

"Oh?" Fujiki You Xuan raised his eyebrows.

Fake Leo panted: "At the last moment, I activated this card, the Trap Card 'Surface Peace'!

During this turn, all monsters cannot be destroyed by battle, and when dealing battle damage to the opponent, I can destroy one Spell/Trap card."

Fujiki You Xuan understood: "So that's why it wasn't destroyed."

"That's right, and the effect of the Trap 'Synchro Barrier' activated last turn will last until the end of this turn, so I won't take any damage this turn, and battle damage is also negated!"

Fake Leo showed a look of pride.

"How about that!? Your insidious tricks that were impossible to guard against have also been blocked by me!"
