Chapter 1332: Sphinx

Anubis: "My turn, draw card!"

A new card appeared in Anubis's palm, and then he swept his sturdy arm: "Direct battle. Sphinx Andro, attack 'Magician's Valkyria'!"

He saw that the Pharaoh was probably trying to use traps for defense, but he didn't seem to care.

"Chance!" Dark Yugi saw the moment the opponent launched the attack and waved his hand to activate the back row. "Activate Set Card, Trap Card 'Magician's Choice'! (Anime card)

This card can only be activated when you have a Spellcaster-type monster on your field and the opponent's monster attacks, negating that attack! And destroy the monster with the lowest ATK on the opponent's field!"

"So that's it," Anubis realized. "Deliberately summoning Magician's Valkyria in Attack Position was just to make me mistakenly think your plan was to use 'Death Struggle Team Swap' to offset battle damage and then Special Summon a new Warrior-type from your hand to defend against my attack.

But in fact, this was just a feint to make me ignore the other real killing move in the back row."

"Correct!" Dark Yugi said. "The effect of Magician's Choice, destroy the monster with the lowest ATK on your field—that is, 'Sphinx Teleia'!"

The magic power released from the trap was completely absorbed by Magician's Valkyria, forming a swirling hexagram on the staff she raised, turning into piercing lightning and blasting toward Teleia.

"Heh, after all, you are the Pharaoh; you do have some little tricks," Anubis sneered, but then changed the subject. "However! These kinds of tricks are useless against me!

Activate Set Card, Counter Trap 'Trap Interference'! This card can negate and destroy any Trap Card activated during the Battle Phase!"

The trap magic circle was released, forming a swirling energy shield, completely offsetting the impact shot by Magician's Choice.

"In this way, your reversal move is resolved!" Anubis said. "Battle continues, Sphinx Andro, continue to attack 'Magician's Valkyria'!"

Magician's Valkyria, who lost the trap's support, was of course no match for Andro at all, and was slapped away by those lion-like sharp claws in one strike, cracking into light spots in mid-air.

"Then the effect of Continuous Trap 'Death Struggle Team Swap'," Dark Yugi said. "When a monster is destroyed by battle, I can negate the battle damage!"

The trap released a transparent barrier again, like an invisible wall blocking the aftermath of the destruction.

"And after that, I can further Special Summon any Warrior-type monster of Level 4 or lower from my hand!" Dark Yugi revealed a card in his hand. "I Special Summon 'Marauding Captain' in Defense Position from my hand!"

Also a classic old monster that had accompanied Yugi from the beginning, it was a vanilla monster during the Duelist Kingdom period, but after the Battle City, it awakened and gained a new vest.

The swordsman wearing a steel helmet squatted on Dark Yugi's field, his cape wrapping most of his squatting body, his long sword held horizontally in front of him.

【Marauding Captain, DEF 1200】

"Very good," Yugi Muto in the back-spirit state said. "Marauding Captain cannot be destroyed by battle by monsters with 1900 ATK or more; in this way, subsequent attacks can be defended against."

"Yes," Dark Yugi nodded.

He had made two preparations for this turn. Magician's Choice was indeed a counter-attack, but even if it was resolved, at least he could still defend against the battle damage through the Continuous Trap, and after Marauding Captain defended against the opponent's subsequent attacks, it could remain on the field.

But Anubis just showed a look of disdain again and said to himself: "Sphinx Teleia, attack 'Marauding Captain'!"

The red-haired Teleia flew out like a vicious dog, and the powerful claw strike blasted directly onto Marauding Captain. The swordsman raised his sword to block, but ultimately failed to defend. The sword snapped with a clatter, and Marauding Captain also groaned and left the field for the Graveyard.

Dark Yugi was secretly startled. Marauding Captain shouldn't be destroyed by battle; is this a special monster effect?

Anubis said: "When Sphinx Teleia attacks a Defense Position monster, it destroys the target monster directly without calculating battle damage!" (Anime effect) Dark Yugi understood. Sure enough.

Anubis reached out again, spreading his five fingers and facing his palm downward: "Set three more cards in the back row, turn end."

So two of the cards originally floating in his hand disappeared again, and at the same time, three more Set Cards appeared on his field.

"I said, I am your nightmare, your end," Anubis said. "Dealing with you doesn't require Lord Zorc to take action personally; without the Gods, you are like a tiger with its teeth pulled out; you are finished!"

The back-spirit Yugi Muto said: "It's okay, other me. Even if we lose the Gods, this deck that pours all our emotions will never lose!"

"Ah, yes, AIBO," Dark Yugi also said. "No matter what kind of enemy, we will never lose."

He looked at his hand and clenched it into a fist.

Never lose, whether for AIBO or for himself.

They had tried their best, not hesitating to risk their lives to find the Pharaoh's lost memories, to find where he came from. All of this was originally unrelated to AIBO, yet he was willing to risk his life to accompany him to the end.

So he would definitely win, find his past, and be with the most important person.

"My turn, draw card!" Dark Yugi drew a card, glanced at it, and immediately inserted a card into the back row. "I set a card in the back row, then activate Magic Card 'Card of Sanctity'!

Until both players' hands become six cards, draw cards from the Deck!"

Both sides drew cards from the Deck rapidly.

After drawing, Dark Yugi quickly revealed one of the cards he drew: "The effect of 'Kuriboh' in my hand, this card can be Special Summoned directly when it is added to the hand by a magic effect.

Come, Kuriboh!"

【Kuriboh, ATK 200】

"Then I offer 'Kuriboh' as a sacrifice!" Dark Yugi said. "Tribute Summon! The strongest disciple who inherited the Dark Magician's will, appear here now—

—Dark Magician Girl!!!"

The storm of the barrier surged. A cool-looking robe half-wrapped the magician girl's body, her waist-length hair flying in the sky, revealing a touch of snow-white skin at the nape of her neck. The energetic girl stepped in cute, round-toed boots, the skin of her thighs seemingly stained with holy light upon her parchment-like texture.

【Dark Magician Girl, ATK 2000】

"Then it's Magic Card 'Sage's Stone'!" Dark Yugi said. "When Dark Magician Girl is on the field, I can Special Summon the magician girl's master from the Deck!

Appear, my most loyal servant—Dark Magician!" ===== CHAPTER 1333 =====
