Chapter 345: Just enough to win

"Chimeratech Overdragon's direct attack!"

Marufuji Ryo shouted, his pupils contracting and his heart beating faster.

Armored Cybern cleared the whole field, no wall monsters, no face-down cards.

Even if there were Kuriboh, Necro Gardna, or even Kiteroid to block the knife, they could only block one or two attacks. And now Chimeratech Overdragon had eighteen consecutive attacks, it was impossible to block it.

Won!

Fujiki You Xuan's appearance was still calm, slowly drawing another card from his hand.

"Kuriboh in hand..."

"Muda!" Marufuji Ryo interrupted impatiently. "Chimeratech Overdragon can attack eighteen times, Kuriboh can't defend either!"

Not to mention one Kuriboh, even if every card remaining in Fujiki You Xuan's hand was Kuriboh, it would be of no avail.

Fujiki You Xuan was interrupted by him, paused slightly, chuckled, and continued to finish.

"... The effect of 'Kuribohball', or you can call it 'Sphere Kuriboh'." Fujiki You Xuan said with a smile. "When the opponent's monster declares an attack, send this card from your hand to the Graveyard, and the attacking monster becomes Defense Position."

Marufuji Ryo: "!?"

There's still this kind of Kuriboh?

"Scientific research achievement, well, this one wasn't developed by me, it's produced by Kaiba Corp." Fujiki You Xuan said.

The golden spherical Kuriboh jumped onto the field, flying around Chimeratech Overdragon twice. The aggressive Overdragon immediately went out of fire and wilted, with no movement.

【Chimeratech Overdragon, ATK 10400 -> DEF 14400】

Marufuji Ryo gritted his teeth unwillingly.

Turning to defense, even eighteen consecutive attacks couldn't attack.

Damn it, it was just a little bit short...

"Set one card, turn end." He ended his declaration somewhat depressedly.

And only then did he suddenly realize that this might be the first time in his dueling career that he felt so unwilling about victory slipping through his fingers.

"Haha, it's really a pity. If it wasn't Sphere Kuriboh in my hand, but an ordinary Kuriboh, I'm afraid I would have been finished off by now. But it was still a little bit short."

Fujiki You Xuan drew again.

"My turn, draw. Standby Phase, the effect of 'Treeborn Frog' in the Graveyard. If there are no Magic or Trap cards on my field, this card is Special Summoned. My field was cleaned up by your Armored Cybern, naturally there are no Magic or Traps. So Treeborn Frog revives."

【Treeborn Frog, DEF 100】

Marufuji Ryo frowned.

Sure enough, it's this frog again, the inexhaustible ammunition resource of the Monarchs...

Fujiki You Xuan also saw it; even if the strong attack was frustrated continuously like this, Kaiser still hadn't wavered.

He still insisted on his own path, just as he stubbornly insisted on using Cyber Dragon or Cyber Dragon's fusion to end the game.

From the underground duel Marufuji Ryo had, it could be seen that in fact, his Fusion deck had always had other powerful monsters including "Chimeratech Overdragon", but he had been very stubborn and never used them before.

It wasn't until that life-and-death moment that he finally abandoned the obsession of "must win with Cyber Dragon" and decided to fight to win.

But now it seems he still insists, then it can only be said that the resistance encountered and the blow received are not enough.

But it doesn't matter.

Fujiki You Xuan smiled slightly.

Then give him a stronger blow to feel it.

"Offer 'Treeborn Frog' as an Offering again."

Fujiki You Xuan raised his hand.

Treeborn Frog was swallowed by a dark vortex, and the pitch-black storm erupted as if from the ink-colored hell, rushing into the sky with the surging dark current!

"The incarnation of destruction, breaking free from the chains of imprisonment and awakening from the endless darkness—

—Caius the Shadow Monarch, summon!!!"

His eyes seemed to ask, you couldn't possibly even have Dark Magician, right?

"Ahahaha, of course I don't have a legendary rare card like Dark Magician. But a Dark-attribute Spellcaster-type doesn't necessarily have to be Dark Magician."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

"I Special Summon 'Witch of the Black Forest'."

【Witch of the Black Forest, ATK 1100】

"Then I Tribute 'Witch of the Black Forest' for a Tribute Summon."

Fujiki You Xuan waved his hand.

"The Emperor who dominates the ice and snow, now descend here—

——Mobius the Frost Monarch, Summon!"

The realm of ice spread out, and the entire field was instantly frozen for miles, as if the heavens and earth had been frozen.

"When Mobius the Frost Monarch is Tribute Summoned, you can choose up to two Spell/Trap cards to destroy." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Destroy your face-down card in the back row, as well as the Union monster 'Armored Cyber Wing' equipped to it."

Marufuji Ryo watched the ice crystals spreading rapidly toward his field and said in a deep voice.

"The Monarch series can activate powerful offensive effects when summoned, having strong suppression against monsters and the back row, and combined with the infinite regeneration combo of 'Treeborn Frog,' it is indeed terrifying.

But I have already mastered the weakness of the Monarchs."

He raised his hand, and his face-down card in the back row flipped over.

"Counter Trap 'Divine Wrath'!

When a monster effect is activated during a summon, negate that activation and effect, and destroy that monster!"

"Oh?"

Fujiki You Xuan nodded in affirmation.

Indeed, it really was a trap that countered the Monarchs. Specifically countering effects that "activate during a summon" was indeed a bit targeted at the Monarchs, and it was also a noble Counter Trap; the Frost Monarch, known as the back-row killer, had indeed hit a steel plate today.

The ice crystals on the entire field shattered instantly, the ice and snow realm disappeared, and the Frost Monarch also burst apart under the power of the trap.

"In this way, it should have been blocked..."

Although he thought so, Marufuji Ryo still couldn't help but feel nervous.

Because in this way, his means and his defenses were truly almost exhausted. But Fujiki You Xuan still gave him the feeling of being nonchalant, with no telling how many backup plans left.

Even if he had Chimeratech Overdragon on his field with both ATK and DEF over ten thousand, it couldn't bring much sense of security.

"However, the effect of 'Witch of the Black Forest,' which I just sent to the Graveyard as a Tribute, has also activated. When this card is sent to the Graveyard, add a monster with 1500 or less DEF from the Deck to the hand."

DEF 1500 or less...

Marufuji Ryo's eyelids twitched.

Right, the DEF of the entire Monarch family is all 1500 or less.

And the Monarch that was washed back by Pot of Avarice just now...

This meant he could freely search for any Monarch from his Deck!

"Not bad, I add 'Caius the Shadow Monarch' from my Deck to my hand."

Fujiki You Xuan drew the Shadow Monarch that automatically popped out of his Deck.

The moment he revealed that card, it seemed as if a cold aura was circling in the sky. The phantom of the Shadow Monarch seemed to appear and disappear in that airflow, as if a superior being were coldly looking down on all living things.

"Then activate the Spell card 'Double Summon'; I can perform one additional Normal Summon this turn."

Fujiki You Xuan waved his hand.

"I Tribute 'Treeborn Frog'.

The incarnation of destruction, break free from the chains of imprisonment and awaken from the endless darkness, descend once more—

——Caius the Shadow Monarch, Summon!"

Known as the most evil and strongest Dark Monarch among the early Monarchs, he awakened like a Demon God, descending once again with his supreme power!

【Caius the Shadow Monarch, ATK 2400】

"The effect of the Shadow Monarch: when a Tribute Summon is successful, you can banish any one card on the field from the game..."

The spectators outside the field were all shocked.

"Oh no, if Chimeratech Overdragon is banished, Kaiser's field will become empty..."

There was nothing left that could stop the advancing footsteps of the Lord in Yellow!

"No, it's not over yet..."

The pitch-black flames in Marufuji Ryo's eyes had not yet extinguished.

He hadn't lost yet, and he didn't want to lose!

"The effect of the Trap card 'Skill Prisoner' in the Graveyard, which was discarded by 'Wall of Revealing Light'." Marufuji Ryo shouted, "Banish this card from the Graveyard from the game, choose one card on your field; all monster effects that target that card this turn are negated!

I use Skill Prisoner to protect 'Chimeratech Overdragon,' even the Shadow Monarch cannot..."

"Your heart is in chaos, Student Marufuji." Fujiki You Xuan interrupted him.

Marufuji Ryo was startled.

"Don't be so anxious to activate it; look carefully, which target did the effect of 'Caius the Shadow Monarch' choose?"

Marufuji Ryo: "?"

Now only the Shadow Monarch and Chimeratech Overdragon were confronting each other on both sides of the field; if he didn't choose Overdragon, then who else could it be...

Immediately after, he widened his eyes, noticing the Shadow Monarch, who was spreading its arms and unleashing endless dark power, its internal surging dark vortex...

Was actually concentrated on the Shadow Monarch itself.

"Na-nani? Could it be that you... you want to..."

Marufuji Ryo suddenly thought of a certain extremely terrifying possibility and was speechless for a moment.

"Caius the Shadow Monarch, when a Tribute Summon is successful, banish any one card on the field from the game... but there is a follow-up effect."

Fujiki You Xuan said calmly.

"If a Dark-attribute monster is banished when using this effect, you can additionally inflict 1000 points of damage to the opponent."

Pausing for a moment, Fujiki You Xuan smiled brightly in the sky-high dark storm stirred up by the Shadow Monarch.

"Caius the Shadow Monarch is himself a Dark-attribute monster."

Marufuji Ryo: "..."

No... it can't be, right?

The Academy Kaiser, known as invincible, was finally about to have his mentality collapse after fighting to this point.

This duel of yours is really...

If I hit you head-on, I lose, right?

But Fujiki You Xuan felt that it should have been like this from the start. A so-called duel is about who can bring the opponent's Life Points to zero first.

Blowing up Chimeratech Overdragon with over ten thousand ATK head-on might be cool, but there was no extra reward.

Winning is enough.

"The effect of Caius the Shadow Monarch: banish the Shadow Monarch himself from the game.

And, because the Shadow Monarch himself is a Dark-attribute monster, add 1000 points of damage!"

【Marufuji Ryo, LP 600】

The surging darkness brewed to the extreme, Caius the Shadow Monarch rose into the air, his entire body having turned into a spirit, launching an unstoppable charge toward Marufuji Ryo under the cover of the storm.

Caius the Shadow Monarch, a suicide human bomb!

Boom!!!

【Marufuji Ryo, LP 600 → LP 0】
