Chapter 490: Dark Fusion

Jaden had dreamed of this moment more than once.

In fact, even the people around Jaden who seemed to have the best relationship with him didn't truly understand him. The little brother who was inseparable from him all day, the classmates who lived together day and night, the opponents who often exchanged hearts through duels...

Everyone thought they understood him, but they were all wrong.

They didn't know the real Jaden Yuki at all.

Jaden was actually a very rare person who was a bit hot on the outside and cold on the inside. He looked heartless on the surface, like a thorough optimist, but that was just a facade he let others see.

He just always hid his worries in the deepest part, leaving only the strongest and most optimistic facade for others.

Take now, for example.

In fact, ever since he learned about the Supreme King, there was almost no day he didn't think about this. The darkness in his own heart, the demon king who exploited and ruled in the other world, this was the opponent he had to defeat, the destiny he had to face.

And now, he had come here, the Supreme King's castle, this deepest room.

Facing that pitch-black armor, the most terrifying darkness hidden deep in his heart for many years, which he might not even know existed.

Jaden faced the Supreme King, and the Supreme King faced Jaden.

The feeling was very strange, as if looking in a mirror. He vaguely seemed to feel that the one in the mirror was himself, just more gloomy and more terrifying.

The two faced each other like this for a long time without speaking. But the air was becoming increasingly heavy, making breathing increasingly heavy.

"You are the Supreme King." Jaden opened his mouth.

But as soon as he opened his mouth, he felt it was very strange to talk to a face exactly like his own like this.

"My... darkness." Jaden muttered to himself.

"No."

The Supreme King also spoke. The same voice as him, but stripped of all emotional fluctuations, so stiff that it seemed like his voice had changed.

"You are the weakness in my heart," he said. "The only weakness. But after today..."

The Supreme King opened his unique Duel Disk.

"This weakness will be eliminated."

Jaden took a deep breath and closed his eyes lightly.

What should come will always come, and what should be faced will always be faced.

Just today, just at this moment.

He was going to have a reckoning with himself.

"Duel!" x2

【Jaden, LP 4000】

【Supreme King, LP 4000】

"I'll go first, draw."

The Supreme King drew a card, and then performed a monster summon without hesitation.

"Defense Position summon 'Elemental HERO Clayman'."

The clay hero with a thick body landed on the field. Clayman's card floated horizontally under his feet, Clayman crouched on that card, his arms crossed to block in front of his chest.

The same card as Jaden's, only this Elemental HERO also seemed to have blackened, with dangerous dark red light shining on his eyes.

【Elemental HERO Clayman, DEF 2000】

"Clayman..." Jaden's expression was complex.

An opponent with the same face as himself, using the same Elemental HEROes, this feeling was really a bit subtle.

"Set one card, turn end," the Supreme King said.

Jaden: "My turn, draw!" Only this duel, no matter what, cannot be lost.

It is for himself, and also for all the worlds he has passed through and seen along the way.

"Activate Field Spell 'Fusion Gate'!"

Jaden raised his hand. The chaotic fusion void opened in mid-air, as if leading to an unknown world.

"As long as Fusion Gate exists on the field, the Fusion Summon of monsters does not need a Fusion spell, and Fusion can be performed by directly banishing the fusion material monsters from the hand and field."

He threw out two cards from his hand. Those two monster cards bloomed with golden light in mid-air, the golden light projected human figures, turning into a green winged hero and a fiery lady with a bumpy figure respectively.

Elemental HERO model couple duo.

"Banish 'Elemental HERO Avian' and 'Elemental HERO Burstinatrix' from the game from my hand," Jaden said. "Fusion Summon! My beloved hero—

—Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!"

Avian and Burstinatrix were both swept into the pitch-black vortex in mid-air and disappeared. Then powerful energy exploded from that black hole, green whirlwinds mixed with spraying flames, and the fiery storm fell to the ground. The pure white single wing flapped away the flames, and the hero's posture was transformed in the burning storm.

【Elemental HERO Flame Wingman, ATK 2100】

"If you symbolize the deepest darkness in my heart, then let me burn it out with the most scorching flames!" Jaden shouted. "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman, attack 'Elemental HERO Clayman'!

Flame Shoot!"

Flame Wingman took to the air, as if riding a whirlwind. Then the wind actually burned, until it wrapped him completely, and after flying to the highest point, he kicked down like a burning cannonball!

Clayman was pierced by a shot and shattered into pieces with a boom.

"Flame Wingman's effect, when destroying a monster in battle, inflict damage to the opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster," Jaden said. "Clayman's ATK is 800, so inflict 800 points of damage!"

Flame Wingman landed in front of the Supreme King, the dragon head part on his hand raised, and the flames in his mouth turned into a spiral impact and blasted out from the Supreme King.

The Supreme King closed his eyes lightly, accepting the scorching of the flames expressionlessly.

【Supreme King, LP 4000 -> LP 3200】

"Activate set card," the Supreme King said. "Trap card 'Hero's Mark'.

When your monster is destroyed in battle and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon a Level 4 or lower 'Elemental HERO' from your hand or deck."

The flipped trap shot out searchlight beams, and the light projected the mark of calling the hero in mid-air.

The Supreme King unfolded his deck, his fingers moved lightly and pushed out one of the cards.

"Special Summon 'Elemental HERO Avian' from the deck."

The green whirlwind also rolled up on the Supreme King's field, only the color was darker and deeper. When the winged hero appeared, the color on his body was also darker compared to Jaden's side, and evil aura also flashed faintly in his eyes.

【Elemental HERO Avian, DEF 1000】

Jaden: "Set one card, turn end."

"My turn, draw."

The Supreme King drew a card, but didn't look at the card in his hand, but looked at the Flame Wingman on Jaden's field.

"Beloved hero? You really are the weakest part of me."

"What did you say?" Jaden frowned.

"Only those who possess power can be called heroes," the Supreme King said gloomily. "Justice without power cannot carry out anything at all; power is justice itself.

And this card is the symbol of power, representing the decisive gap between you and me!

Activate spell card 'Dark Fusion'!

A card of dark fusion that turns Elemental HEROes into demons!"
