Chapter 658: Immortal Phantom

Scapegoat, if he remembered correctly, Fujiki You Xuan remembered this should be a Tuner monster.

Of course, this was not strange. It was not the first time he had seen a Tuner monster in this pre-Synchro era, but now no one had discovered the concept of a Tuner monster. For modern duelists, they were just ordinary effect monsters, and no one had discovered the potential of these monsters to perform level adjustment.

So if it were a later generation, the tokens produced by Scapegoat's effect would immediately make people feel that they should be preparing for the next turn's Synchro Summon. But now, it should mostly be preparing tributes for Tribute Summoning.

Since that was the case...

"My turn, draw card."

The Archbishop drew a card. At the same time, the words "Draw Phase" on both sides' Duel Disks flashed quickly, and then the words "Standby Phase" appeared.

Just at this moment, Fujiki You Xuan snapped his fingers.

"Activate face-down card."

"Trap card - Ceiling!"

The trap flipped, and a metal ceiling immediately appeared above both sides' fields, covered with countless spikes underneath, falling directly toward the entire field of both sides like Mount Taishan!

"Ceiling can only be activated when there are four or more monsters on both sides' fields," Fujiki You Xuan said, "Destroy all monsters existing face-up on the field!"

The Archbishop raised his eyebrows. The sect members below the stage couldn't help but stir.

Although there were indeed five monsters on the field, the Archbishop had four on his side, while the opponent only had one. In terms of quantity, this Ceiling card seemed to indeed be able to open up a huge resource gap.

But the one on Fujiki You Xuan's field was the Lord of Searing Flames!

Was this guy actually preparing to use the Lord of Searing Flames to trade for four zero-attack blank tokens?

The Archbishop reacted quickly, frowning: "Uria, Lord of Searing Flames... the Phantom has resistance to traps, right?"

"Correct." Fujiki You Xuan smiled, "Traps are useless against Phantoms."

Under the animation effect, the Three Phantoms were unaffected by any trap effects, and magic only accepted the effects of magic cards activated within the turn.

"Therefore, only your monsters are destroyed by Ceiling." Fujiki You Xuan said.

The Lord of Searing Flames proudly raised its head again, let out another roar, somewhat arrogant.

The spiked ceiling crashed down from the air, and the four small ghost lambs were immediately pierced by countless spikes, their forms shattered, and in an instant, they died without a burial place.

The Archbishop paused slightly and narrowed his eyes.

"Destroyed my offerings, huh." The Archbishop said, "Seeing through my tactics and countering in advance, sure enough, you are the person worth selecting."

This saying again; last time, it was said through the mouth of the Enchanting Mermaid.

"Why, do you hope I will collude with you?" Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

"You possess that potential, and more importantly, astonishing darkness in your heart. If you haven't noticed, it's just that you have been intentionally ignoring it all along."

"But it doesn't matter, we will help you accept the best version of yourself."

The Archbishop slowly drew another card from his hand.

"I normal summon 'Furry Attacker'."

A Beast-type warrior covered in pitch-black fur was summoned from the card art, carrying a huge iron hammer of exaggerated size on its back.

【Furry Attacker, ATK 1850】

"The effect of Furry Attacker: once per turn, discard one card from your hand to special summon a 'Furry Zha' from the deck."

The Archbishop sent a card from his hand to the graveyard.

"Special summon 'Furry Zha' from the deck."

【Furry Zha, ATK 100】

"Immediately after, activate the monster effect of 'King of Furry Beasts' from the graveyard!" The Archbishop said, "By offering the 'Furry Zha' face-up on your field as a tribute, this card can be special summoned from your hand or graveyard."

"Sacrifice the 'Furry Zha' on the field, revive from the graveyard————King of Furry Beasts, summoned!"

Pitch-black fur almost covered the entire body, and the huge beast returned to the field from the vortex of the graveyard. Metal-like golden legs stretched out from the dense fur to support it on the ground, and the golden face was hideous.

【King of Furry Beasts, ATK 2500】

Fujiki You Xuan: "Also sent to the graveyard by Card Destruction, huh."

"Correct." The Archbishop sneered, "As I said, the opportunity that Card Destruction gives to the opponent's graveyard resources is also equal; opportunity and risk coexist."

"But this level alone cannot defeat the Lord of Searing Flames." Fujiki You Xuan reminded, "Because the trap card 'Ceiling' was just activated this turn, the number of trap cards in the graveyard increased, and the attack power of the Lord of Searing Flames also rose accordingly."

【Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, ATK 3000】

"I know." The Archbishop said, "Then activate the equip magic 'Axe of Despair', equip it to 'King of Furry Beasts', and increase its attack power by 1000 points!"

【King of Furry Beasts, ATK 3000 -> ATK 3500】

The Archbishop raised his hand and ordered: "Battle."

(No content lost!)

"Use 'King of Furry Beasts' to attack 'Uria, Lord of Searing Flames'!"

The King of Furry Beasts roared wildly, its dense black fur standing up like it was bristling, and then it shot toward the Lord of Searing Flames like ten thousand arrows fired at once.

The Lord of Searing Flames also roared unwillingly, but at this moment it really couldn't beat this King of Furry Beasts. The red dragon body was soon pierced by countless steel-like hairs, and with a bang, it exploded into a large fireball.

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 4000 -> LP 3500】

A cheer from the believers sounded below the stage. The Phantom looked like that was all there was to it, completely not a match for their Evil God.

"Then there is 'Furry Attacker'." The Archbishop said, "Direct attack on the player!"

The furry Beast-type warrior roared manicly, raised the huge hammer in its hand, and swung it directly at Fujiki You Xuan.

"Then activate face-down card." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Quick-play magic 'Scapegoat'."

"Special summon four lamb tokens to your field."

The magic took effect, releasing four golden lights. The four lights fell into a monster zone on Fujiki You Xuan's field, condensing into the image of small lambs, squinting their eyes as if napping.

【Sheep Token, DEF 0】 x4

"Lambs are not your privilege." Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

The Archbishop was not annoyed: "Then Furry Attacker, destroy one of the lambs first."

Furry Attacker changed the direction of its attack and swung its hammer violently. One lamb was smashed until tears streamed out, and it burst into fragments with a pop.

"Set one card, turn end."

The Archbishop chuckled.

"Phantom Lord of Searing Flames, destroyed." He said faintly, "It seems the so-called Phantom is just that."

"Is that really the case?" Fujiki You Xuan revealed a smile that was ambiguous but carried an inexplicable danger.

"What?"

Fujiki You Xuan didn't answer directly.

"My turn, draw card."

Immediately after, just a moment later, everyone saw with astonishment that a pillar of lava-like fire soared into the sky! The flames swirled like the wrath of hell itself, and the outline of a dragon gradually appeared in the pillar of fire. That red body, as if flashing with molten lava, seemed to contain flames in its roaring mouth, and its long tail swung, setting off a thousand feet of dust.

Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, revived!
