Chapter 9

You Xuan walked onto the duel field, facing his first-round opponent Chazz Princeton, standing still.

"Duel!" x2

【You Xuan, LP4000】

【Chazz, LP4000】

Both sides were unfamiliar with each other, and there was nothing to dawdle about before the game. In Chazz's eyes, You Xuan was just a stepping stone for his advancement, while You Xuan was also looking forward to taking this opportunity to test the actual combat ability of the plot characters.

It is well known in the card player circle that from the perspective of deck construction, the decks of most characters in the anime are entertainment-oriented. Back then, many people might have been ignorant in their childhood and learned to configure decks according to anime characters, and then when they started playing, they found that hand accidents were so card-stuck that they doubted life, and six cards in their hands were meeting, but not a single one could be played.

However, the actual combat of anime characters is completely different from reality. They have the ability to write "deck bonds" and read "idealistic god-draws." The few cards for key combos are always stuck together like 502 glue, no matter how you shuffle, they can always be drawn together, and they can still play with even more abstract deck constructions.

And this ability is more obvious in the hands of stronger duelists. For example, Jaden Yuki, the protagonist of GX known for god-draws, or Atem, who evolved to the state of getting whatever he wants to draw by the end of DM.

However, Chazz's few ace cards in the original work were obtained in the later plot. The VWXYZ five-fold combination was bought internally by Professor Chronos to teach Jaden Yuki a lesson, and the Armed Dragon was obtained by him at North Academy. At this time, he didn't even have the Ojamas.

The strength should be much weaker than in the anime.

"I'll take the first move."

You Xuan decisively took the first-move right randomly assigned by the duel disk system.

"Set a monster on the field, then add a set card in the back row."

He drew two cards, placed one face-down on the front field of the duel disk, and inserted one into the spell/trap slot on the back. The images of the two pitch-black cards were immediately projected onto the field.

"Turn end."

"Heh, a defensive opening... But against me, the NO. 1 of the Junior Department, this caution is also to be expected."

Chazz shouted very expansively.

Obviously, Chazz before enrollment had not yet been poisoned by Jaden, and he felt very good about himself.

"But it's useless! My turn, draw!"

He scanned his hand and immediately drew two of them.

"I set a card on the field. Then I activate the Spell Card - Hand Destruction! Both players discard all cards in their hands, then draw the same number of cards as discarded from the deck!"

You Xuan discarded all his cards as requested and changed his hand with Chazz.

After the new hand was changed, Chazz immediately pressed the button to activate the set card: "Flip the set card, Spell Card - Silent Doom! Can revive a Normal Monster from the Graveyard in Defense Position.

I revive the 'Warrior Lady of the Wasteland - Canaan' that I just discarded into the Graveyard!"

A black vortex opened on the field, and a beautiful red-haired female warrior holding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other appeared from the vortex. She squatted on the ground, and a horizontal card face appeared under her feet, with her shield blocking in front in a defensive posture.

【Warrior Lady of the Wasteland - Canaan, DEF 1400】

"Then activate the Equip Spell 'Great Sword' from my hand and equip it to the Warrior Lady! The equipped monster's ATK increases by 300!" (Anime card)

【Warrior Lady of the Wasteland - Canaan, ATK 1400 -> ATK 1700】

"Heh, you must be thinking, what's the use of increasing the ATK of a monster in Defense Position?" Chazz sneered.

You Xuan was expressionless, thinking that he wasn't entirely not thinking that...

"Let me tell you, the duel of the elite is far beyond your imagination!" Chazz said, "The Equip Spell 'Great Sword' has another effect! When the equipped monster is used as a tribute for a Warrior-type monster, one can count as two.

Therefore, I tribute the 'Warrior Lady of the Wasteland - Canaan' equipped with 'Great Sword', counting one as two tributes..."

A white whirlwind rolled up, covering the swordswoman on the field. Golden light wrapped her and her sword, turning into light spots and dissipating.

"Light of dawn, illuminate the path to victory, use the legendary sword to cut through obstacles!"

Chazz held a card high, and the storm summoned behind him lifted his clothes.

"Appear! Level 8, Legendary Swordmaster!!!"

A masked swordmaster in black armor stepped out of the storm, with a long greatsword on his back. Red hair fluttered, and he had an extraordinary demeanor.

【Legendary Swordmaster, ATK 2600】

You Xuan nodded slightly. Hmm, sure enough, the duelists in this world have more flashy movements and lines when summoning big monsters.

The audience watching this match couldn't help but exclaim.

"Summoned such a powerful monster on the first turn!" a red-haired girl exclaimed, "That boy doesn't feel like an ordinary person..."

"Hahaha, that's for sure!"

Little brother A, one of Chazz's two followers, happened to be sitting in the back row, and hearing this, he immediately became proud: "That is the first place in the elite class of our Duel Academy Junior Department! Chazz-big brother!"

"Chazz-big brother has already been recommended to the Senior Department of the Academy this year, playing against such a small character is completely a piece of cake..." little brother B also proudly echoed.

"Junior Department elite class... first place!?"

The two girls immediately paid tribute, and the look in their eyes looking at Chazz on the screen had completely changed into looking up to a big shot.

They had all heard that although the Junior Department of Duel Academy is not as difficult to enter as the Senior Department, there is no lack of good players. And the elite class is full of young geniuses.

First place in the elite class... that's a real big shot.

Suddenly started to sympathize with his opponent a little...

The two girls were both sorry-faced.

It's a pity, that boy named Fujiki Youxuan is quite handsome; it looks like he won't be seen again after this round...

"Not over yet!"

Chazz was still operating.

"Legendary Swordmaster, effect activate! When this card is successfully summoned, equip as many Equip Spells as possible from your Graveyard to a Warrior-type monster on your field!"

He paused, took the two cards ejected from the Graveyard area of the duel disk, and sneered.

"Of course, the Swordmaster himself is a Warrior-type. Therefore, the target I want to specify for the equipment is the Swordmaster himself. I equip the Equip Spell 'Great Sword' and Equip Spell 'Jewel Sword' from the Graveyard to the 'Legendary Swordmaster' at the same time!" (Anime card)

Two Equip Spells were superimposed on the Swordmaster at the same time. The swordsman let out a roar of energy filling, pulled out the greatsword behind him, and the blade kept extending, looking like it was about to become a forty-meter big machete.

"'Great Sword' and 'Jewel Sword' each increase the Swordmaster's ATK by 300 points. Therefore, the ATK increases by 600 in total!"

【Legendary Swordmaster, ATK 2600 -> ATK 3200】

"."

"ATK 3200!" The red-haired girl was even more surprised, "This is only the first turn! It has already exceeded the ATK of the legendary 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'!"

The two little brothers felt even more face. Little brother B pulled the corners of his mouth high and pretended to laugh contemptuously: "Sit down, sit down, small scene. For Chazz-big brother, it's a basic operation..."

However, You Xuan, who was in the battle at this time, was not frightened by this posture, or rather, it was just the opposite.

He was staring at the two cards left in Chazz's hand.

It had just started, and Chazz's starting hand of six was already down by four, which is roughly equivalent to four-for-one. He felt heartache just looking at this loss of cards.

He was almost catching up to the famous scene of "five-for-one" where five cards in hand become a blank board in the anime...

"Hahaha, have you been conquered by this overwhelming power?" Chazz laughed loudly, "Don't worry, it will end very quickly.

Battle Phase. Legendary Swordmaster, defeat that set cannon fodder monster!"

The Swordmaster pulled his sword out of its sheath and flew forward. The forty-meter big machete swung out an amazing air wave, and the monster You Xuan set on the field could not resist at all, turning over powerlessly under the wind pressure, revealing its true face.

It was a female warrior.

A blonde female warrior in a black combat suit and long boots, squatting and holding a sword in front of her, looked so petite and powerless in front of such a thick giant blade.

【D. D. Warrior Lady, DEF 1600】

"D. D. Warrior Lady, effect activate," You Xuan said calmly, "When this card battles an opponent's monster, after the damage calculation step, banish both itself and the opponent's monster it battled from the game."

I'll send your Level 8 big monster to another dimension!

Chazz: "!?"
