Chapter 1782

Of course, he was not a rigid, old-fashioned man; if he could truly exchange it for a sum of money, Ximen Wudi would gladly use that money to buy his own mine.

However, Ximen Wudi had overlooked a serious problem—he did not know that several bands of mercenaries had already set their sights on him.

Once entangled, he would very likely expose the location of the radium-gold mine.

This was an absolute risk, even bordering on reckless desperation.

But Ximen Wudi did not care about these risks; he would rather take a chance than watch the radium-gold mine fall into the hands of other organizations in the Dark World!

Ximen Wudi believed that with Zeus's sense of smell, he would eventually figure this out!

Yet Ximen Wudi did not know that, at this very moment, a group of mercenaries was already on their way to the island!

…………

"We're now not far from that island," said a man in black.

"That island is a target we must conquer," said another mercenary: "Rumors say the island is enormous, hiding thousands of vicious criminals—we must eliminate them all."

"Exactly. Once we solve this problem, we can leave Amazonia with the money in hand."

These three men coordinated perfectly, with flawless chemistry.

And these three men were none other than core members of the Golden Family!

Among them, the man in purple military uniform was Hokin! He was Caranilis's most elite mechanic!

He had once modified the M-series single-man rocket launcher, making it unstoppable on African battlefields!

"This mission's difficulty level isn't low, but we must complete it," said the man in green robes calmly: "After all, if we can't even handle a simple task like this, we don't belong in the family's core circle."

"We all know this, big brother, and our boss knows it too," said the girl in the red dress: "So this time, we might not just die—we'll die spectacularly!"

"You bunch of idiots, who told you to use 'die' as your conclusion?" came a mocking voice from the side: "We're here to make money, not to fight a war. It's just about getting cash—why risk your life? Are you all brain-dead?"

Hearing this, the man and woman turned their heads and broke into delighted smiles: "Hades?"

Yes, the one who had just mocked them was Hades, Zeus's son!

"Hey, long time no see, what've you been up to lately?" Hades grinned, revealing bright, even teeth.

"We're on a mission, exhausted every day," said the woman in red military uniform.

She was Zeus's biological sister, Olivia.

The girl looked stunning, with sharp, defined features and a wild aura—especially her peach-blossom eyes, which seemed to speak, brimming with spirit.

But in Ximen Wudi's impression, this Miss was not the type to be beautiful but foolish; rather, she was quite clever, though occasionally a bit scatterbrained.

"You're on a mission? What's that to me? I don't answer to you," Hades said bluntly.

"Hey, Hades, speaking like that is a real blow to brotherly bonds," said Hades's cousin Louise: "Besides, we used to be colleagues—how can you just stand by and let us die?"

She paused, then added the knife: "Besides, I've known you, you bastard brother, since childhood—never studied, always lazy. You'll probably never amount to anything."

Hades shook his head and smiled: "Your foul mouth still comes from your mother."

"Spit! You dare insult my mom? I'll fight you!" Louise rolled up her sleeves and charged forward.

But before her fist could touch Hades, he seized her wrist.

The girl was no novice—yet even so, she couldn't break free from Hades's grip!

"Let go of my hand! You bastard, you're paying for this today!"

"I'll tell you, my brother-in-law is Apollo! If he finds out you're bullying me—"

Before she could finish yelling, Hades kicked her hard, sending her sprawling onto the sand.

Boom!

A dull thud.

The little miss lay face-down on the sand, unable to get up for a long while!

"Alright, alright, I know—I know Apollo's your boyfriend, but he's already been taken by your sister," Hades said with a smile: "Isn't that fair? You don't need to envy me—I envy you too."

This guy really did look like he deserved a beating, and he always managed to make people explode with rage.

"Hmph, you're doing this on purpose, you bastard—you'll regret it. Next time I see your sister, I'm telling her everything," Louise stood up, rubbing her butt: "Ow, that hurt! I can't believe your brother-in-law likes you—how can you be so arrogant?"

At these words, Hades's expression turned instantly dark. He clenched his teeth: "Shut up."

Then he kicked the nearby rock with all his strength.

The crushed hole, two meters deep, proved just how powerful Hades was.

The mercenaries watched from the side, laughing, none offering help to the clueless cousin—clearly, they enjoyed seeing Hades humiliated.

"Hey, don't you dare laugh! After this mission, I'll settle scores with every last one of you," Louise yelled, hands on hips.

"Ha, if you can beat us, go ahead and take revenge."

"Hahaha, you idiot—if you could even move us, that'd be a miracle!"

The mercenaries burst into laughter.

Louise trembled with rage but could do nothing—though young, she knew she was no match for them.

Moreover, these mercenaries were elite among elites, each possessing extraordinary power; without Zeus as her shield, she had no chance against them!

"I warn you—all of you—don't you dare talk nonsense! My sister's terrifying. Anyone who dares speak ill of her will face her club," Louise clenched her pink fists, threatening.

The mercenaries laughed again, clearly not believing her.

"Enough, enough. Let's focus on the mission—finish it fast, and we'll boost our merit points," said a tall man in gray military uniform.

He wore sunglasses, looked around forty, with dark skin and a square face, radiating grit and bravery.

He was Emons, deputy to Harry Santa.

"Emons, you make it sound easy—if that cruiser actually crashes into us, we're all dead!" said the slightly thinner man: "And how come you picked such a dangerous terrain? Do you want to trigger a bomb?"

These words seemed to plunge the air around them several degrees colder.

Emmons looked very imposing. He let out two cold laughs: "When I led the team, patrol boats passed through here too, but they never spotted us from start to finish. If we really had been discovered, would we have had any chance to escape?"

Hearing these words, everyone fell silent.

"Since we're already here, what is there to hesitate about?" Emmons patted those mercenaries on the shoulder: "What we need to do is kill, not seek safety. So we can only take this risk!"

"Sigh, easier said than done…" one mercenary let out a sigh.

"Cut the nonsense." Emmons said: "This is an order from above and must be carried out! Otherwise, you should all know what the consequences will be."

Having said that, he took the lead and swam toward the other side of the beach, and the remaining few followed one after another.

…………

In a stretch of woods, a slender figure was quietly lying in ambush, the sniper scope already locked onto that cruiser.

She wore a white tracksuit, two assault rifles slung across her back, a backpack tossed on her shoulders, long legs striding as she sprinted all the way.

She was an agile Oriental beauty, moving with incredible swiftness through the jungle, and in the blink of an eye she had pulled open the distance between herself and the cruiser.

"Finally caught up with you." said the Oriental Miss in the tracksuit.

"You found us so quickly — it really does come as a bit of a surprise." The owner of this ship, Hekalos, sat in the cockpit, watching the Oriental Miss growing ever more distant on the screen, a playful glint surfacing in his eyes.

"Why exactly did you kidnap me? Why?" Hekalos asked the pilot.

The man looked to be in his early thirties, wearing black-framed glasses, a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, with a refined, scholarly air — utterly unlike Hekalos.

"Because I like her." he answered with a smile: "From the moment you abducted her from Huaxia and brought her here, it was destined that we would be entangled for life."

Hekalos glanced at this bookish man and said mockingly: "You really are quite the gentleman."

He did not make a move right away, because he knew there were at least over a hundred mercenaries on this aircraft carrier.

Although their individual combat proficiency was extremely high, and some were even skilled at close-quarters combat, Hekalos still did not think his odds of winning were all that great.

After all, the enemy's weapons were far too lethal, while he himself lacked heavy weapons like anti-tank rocket launchers.

Moreover, Hekalos had once served as an instructor at a certain international criminal police organization, and he clearly remembered that those fellows' defensive works were simply as solid as a rock — even rocket artillery couldn't blast through them. To break through their position was basically an impossible mission.

"Hekalos, if you're willing to come over to my side, then I promise we can share wealth and glory together, and… I will give you power greater than that of all the mercenaries here." The tall man named Emmons narrowed his eyes and smiled.

"Heh, thanks, Lieutenant Colonel Emmons, but please forgive me for declining your kind offer."

"No, you won't refuse." Emmons said with a smile: "People like you are all greedy, forever unable to escape such desires. Even if you don't consider yourself, you'll consider your family, your friends and your lover — they need money too, and your girlfriend is no exception."
