Chapter 62: The Invitation from Sakura Valley

~7 min read 1,345 words

The morning sunlight spilled into the room through the gaps in the curtains; Ye Feng woke up startled from his sleep, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

He had a nightmare, dreaming that Gu Ran was abducted by a group of people wearing clothing with cherry blossom patterns, and that he himself had been severely injured while fighting them.

The images in the dream were so realistic that his heart was still pounding violently when he woke up.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm his mood, yet the moment he opened his eyes, the scene before him left him stunned—the room was actually filled with pink petals, and a faint floral fragrance permeated the air.

These petals seemed to have appeared out of thin air, scattered on the floor, the bed, and even beside his pillow.

"What... is going on?"

Ye Feng frowned and reached out to pinch a petal; the texture was soft and real.

Just then, a fair, delicate hand suddenly reached out from the side and gently stroked his cheek.

Ye Feng stiffened all over, sat up abruptly from the bed, and turned his head to look beside him.

He saw a woman wearing a gorgeous kimono lying on her side on his bed, her long hair spread out like a waterfall, a charming smile on her face.

Her eyes seemed as if they could speak, carrying a hint of playfulness and teasing.

"Who... who are you?"

Ye Feng looked at her vigilantly, his body subconsciously retreating backward.

The woman was amused by his reaction and giggled, her voice crisp and pleasant: "What, had a nightmare and don't even recognize me anymore?"

Ye Feng's brows furrowed even tighter, and he quietly circulated his Qi Strength: "How did you get in, and what is your purpose?"

Looking at the woman's attire, Ye Feng remembered someone—Sakurai Chixue of Sakura Valley!

Last time, Sakurai Chixue had also lain on his bed like this, and the room had been filled with cherry blossoms just like this.

The woman slowly sat up, the sleeves of her kimono sliding down slightly to reveal her fair arms.

She tilted her head, looking at Ye Feng with a smile that wasn't quite a smile: "Do you really not remember me?"

"A weak woman like me was brought back by you last night, you know!"

Ye Feng was taken aback, then shook his head: "Impossible, I was clearly with Gu Ran last night!"

The woman chuckled and reached out to brush back her long hair: "It seems you really don't remember, but that's okay, I can help you recall."

As she spoke, she suddenly leaned close to Ye Feng, the distance between them so near that they could almost feel each other's breath.

Ye Feng subconsciously leaned back, but she grabbed his wrist in one motion.

"What are you doing?"

Ye Feng tried to break free, only to find that the woman's strength was astonishingly great.

A flash of cunning crossed the woman's eyes, and she whispered: "Don't be nervous, I just want you to see this."

She released Ye Feng's hand, took an exquisite Jade Pendant from her sleeve, and handed it to Ye Feng.

Carved on the Jade Pendant was a blooming cherry blossom, the petals delicate and lifelike, as if they would drift off the jade at any moment.

Seeing this Jade Pendant, Ye Feng's pupils contracted sharply; he remembered that the last time Sakurai Chixue appeared, she also had an identical Jade Pendant tucked at her waist!

"Are you from Sakura Valley?"

Ye Feng frowned; these people from Sakura Valley were truly like ghosts that wouldn't leave him alone!

The woman smiled slightly and tucked the Jade Pendant back into her sleeve: "That's right, I am Chiba Sakura of Sakura Valley; you can call me Xiao Ying."

Ye Feng's expression turned cold instantly: "What exactly do you people from Sakura Valley want? Why do you keep coming after me again and again!"

Chiba Sakura smiled, changing from her previous flippancy, her tone suddenly becoming serious: "Ye Feng, Sakura Valley has no malice toward you; on the contrary, we hope you will join us."

"Join you?"

Ye Feng sneered: "I have no interest in your organization."

Chiba Sakura shook her head: "Joining us will only benefit you and do you no harm!"

Ye Feng got out of bed, on guard: "I will not consider you people!"

Chiba Sakura smiled without answering directly; instead, she stood up and walked to the window.

She reached out and pushed the window open, and a breeze blew past, carrying the fragrance of her long hair.

"Ye Feng, this world is far more complex than you imagine."

"Joining Sakura Valley will allow you to go much further!"

She turned around, looking at Ye Feng with deep eyes.

Ye Feng was silent for a moment, then said coldly: "No matter what your purpose is, I will not join you!"

At this moment, he suddenly thought of the dream he just had and added: "If you dare to harm Gu Ran, I will never let you off."

Chiba Sakura chuckled, her tone carrying a hint of mockery: "How stubborn, but I like your personality."

After she finished speaking, she suddenly waved her hand, and the petals in the room instantly flew into the air, forming a pink whirlwind.

Ye Feng subconsciously raised his hand to shield his eyes, and when he opened them again, Chiba Sakura had already disappeared, leaving behind only a faint floral fragrance and a cherry-blossom-shaped Jade Pendant lying quietly on the floor.

Ye Feng picked up the Jade Pendant, his brows locked tight.

He knew that the appearance of Sakura Valley was by no means a coincidence.

Perhaps it had some connection to the disappearance of his father.

"It seems things are much more complex than I imagined..."

He muttered to himself, gripping the Jade Pendant in his hand tightly.

Just then, his phone suddenly rang.

Ye Feng picked up the phone and saw it was a call from Gu Ran; his heart tightened, and he answered the call immediately.

"Ye Feng, are you at home?"

Gu Ran's voice came from the other end of the line, carrying a hint of anxiety.

"I am, what's wrong?"

Ye Feng asked.

Gu Ran seemed to heave a sigh of relief as she said, "Pack up, time to get to work!"

"Alright, I'll be right over!"

The morning sunlight spilled into the car through the windows; Ye Feng gripped the steering wheel, his gaze focused on the road conditions ahead.

Gu Ran sat in the passenger seat holding a document, but her brows were tightly locked, and she kept glancing out the window from time to time; her mind was clearly not on the document.

"Ye Feng."

Gu Ran spoke up suddenly, her voice carrying a hint of hesitation: "I had a very strange dream last night."

Ye Feng turned his head to glance at her and asked with a smile: "What kind of dream? Did you dream that I got a promotion and a raise?"

Gu Ran did not smile; her brows remained slightly furrowed, and her tone was somewhat uneasy: "I dreamed that you were wounded by several women; they were wearing strange clothes and holding strange weapons."

"I wanted to save you, but they abducted me instead..."

Ye Feng's hand jerked violently, the steering wheel nearly losing control; the car swerved sharply toward the side of the road, the tires scraping against the curb and emitting a harsh screeching sound.

Gu Ran was startled and hurriedly grabbed the door handle: "Ye Feng, what's wrong with you?"

Ye Feng quickly steadied the car, pulled over to the side of the road, took a deep breath, and turned to look at Gu Ran, his expression complex: "You... you really dreamed of these things?"

Gu Ran nodded, looking at him with some confusion: "Yes, what's wrong? Why are you reacting so strongly?"

Ye Feng was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice: "Because I had the same dream too."
