Chapter 63: Massaging Gu Ran
"You dreamed of it too? This... how is this possible?"
Hearing Ye Feng's words, Gu Ran widened her eyes, and she stood there frozen as if turned to stone.
Ye Feng gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white: "In the dream, those women were wearing kimonos and holding strange weapons..."
"They attacked me first, and then they took you away."
"I tried to stop them, but their power was too strong..."
"Moreover, one thing is certain: they are people from Sakura Valley!"
Gu Ran's complexion turned pale, and her voice trembled slightly: "Sakura Valley?"
"What kind of place is that?"
"Why would we have the same dream?"
Ye Feng shook his head, his tone heavy: "I'm not sure either, but some things that have happened recently make me feel that this dream doesn't seem to be just a coincidence."
Gu Ran bit her lip and asked in a low voice: "Ye Feng, are you hiding something from me?"
Ye Feng was silent for a moment, then finally sighed: "Gu Ran, there are some things I didn't want to tell you, but now it seems that hiding them from you will only put you in danger."
He reached into his pocket, took out the Sakura Jade Pendant, and handed it to Gu Ran: "This was left behind by a woman named Chiba Sakura last night. She said she was from Sakura Valley and wanted me to join them."
Gu Ran took the jade pendant, looked at it carefully, and exclaimed: "This morning, a jade pendant just like this appeared in my room too!"
Ye Feng frowned: "It seems their target is not just me, but you as well."
Gu Ran's complexion turned even paler, her fingers clutching the jade pendant tightly: "What on earth is going on!"
Ye Feng continued: "Perhaps it's because of your constitution!"
Gu Ran frowned and asked in confusion: "What constitution?"
Ye Feng did not continue to explain, but instead held her hand, his tone firm: "Don't be afraid. With me here, no matter what happens, I will protect you."
Gu Ran looked into Ye Feng's eyes, and the unease in her heart gradually subsided.
She nodded and said softly: "I believe you."
Ye Feng smiled, let go of her hand, and started the car again: "Let's go, we'll head to the company first. After work, I'll take you somewhere."
"Where?"
Gu Ran asked curiously.
Ye Feng looked into the distance with a profound gaze: "Do you remember Elder Zhang, Zhang Guoqiang?"
"He might be able to help us."
Gu Ran nodded and did not ask further.
The car merged back into the traffic, and both of their moods became heavy.
Arriving at the company, Ye Feng parked the car and opened the door for Gu Ran.
After getting out of the car, Gu Ran suddenly turned around and hugged Ye Feng, her voice choking up: "Ye Feng, promise me, no matter what happens, you must stay safe!"
Ye Feng was stunned for a moment, then gently patted her back and said softly: "Silly, don't worry, of course I will always be by your side."
Gu Ran let go of him, wiped the corners of her eyes, and managed a forced smile: "Let's go, it's time for work."
Afterward, the two walked into the company building side by side, but neither of them noticed that under a tree in the distance, a woman wearing a kimono was watching them quietly, the corner of her mouth curling into a meaningful smile.
"Cold Yin Divine Body, what a fine seedling!"
Chiba Sakura whispered to herself, then turned and disappeared into the crowd.
After entering the company, Gu Ran quickly entered her work mode.
She sat at her desk, her fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard, as if the things that happened this morning had already been cast to the back of her mind.
On the other side, Ye Feng appeared somewhat idle.
He sat on the sofa in the office, holding a magazine, but after flipping through a few pages, he found it dull and uninteresting.
"Sigh, this work arrangement is really casual..."
Ye Feng sighed helplessly, complaining to himself.
Ever since becoming Gu Ran's driver and bodyguard, his work content was basically just driving her to and from work and occasionally helping her handle some trivial matters.
He was, after all, a high-achieving graduate from a 211 university!
But most of the time, he was just like this, bored to death!
At noon, Ye Feng went to the company cafeteria and had a casual lunch.
When he returned, he found Gu Ran still in the office, eating while looking at documents.
Ye Feng really couldn't help it and reminded her: "Manager Gu, you should relax while eating. The work will never be finished."
Gu Ran looked up, glanced at him, and the corners of her mouth lifted slightly: "I'm used to it, but thank you for your concern!"
After finishing his meal, Ye Feng found a quiet corner and dialed Xie Junhao's number.
"Hello, it's me, Ye Feng."
Ye Feng said in a low voice.
Immediately after, Xie Junhao's hearty laughter came from the other end of the phone: "Yo, Little Brother Ye, why did you suddenly think of calling me? Did you run into trouble again?"
Ye Feng gave a bitter laugh: "You guessed right."
"I ran into people from Sakura Valley again today. Things are a bit complicated, and I want to meet Elder Zhang tonight. Do you think you can help arrange it?"
Xie Junhao was silent for a few seconds, then agreed: "No problem, I'll contact him right now. Eight o'clock tonight, Yanhe Restaurant."
"Thanks, Old Xie."
Ye Feng let out a sigh of relief. After hanging up the phone, he felt a little more at ease.
Returning to the office, Ye Feng continued to wait for the end of the workday, having nothing to do.
Time passed minute by minute; Gu Ran was still busy, while Ye Feng played mobile games out of sheer boredom.
Finally, it was time to get off work.
Gu Ran closed her laptop, stretched, pressed on her slightly sore shoulders, and turned to Ye Feng, saying, "Let's go, we can leave now."
Ye Feng stood up, but instead of heading straight out, he walked over to Gu Ran's side and gently placed his hands on her shoulders.
Gu Ran was stunned for a moment, then looked up at him: "What's wrong?"
"You look quite tired, let me give you a massage."
Ye Feng smiled, his tone brooking no refusal.
Gu Ran shook her head, feeling a bit embarrassed: "No need, I'm fine."
Ye Feng ignored her refusal, his hands already beginning to gently knead her shoulders.
His technique was professional and the pressure was just right; Gu Ran's originally tense muscles gradually began to relax.
"You... how do you even know how to give a massage?"
Gu Ran asked, somewhat surprised.
Ye Feng smiled: "I learned a bit in the past, specifically to deal with workaholics like you."
Gu Ran intended to refuse again, but the comfort spreading from her shoulders made her close her eyes involuntarily.
A look of enjoyment gradually appeared on her face, and her tightly furrowed brows smoothed out.
"How is it, does it feel good?"
Seeing Gu Ran's look of enjoyment, Ye Feng smiled and asked in a low voice.
Gu Ran gave a soft "mm," her voice carrying a hint of laziness: "I didn't expect you to have such a knack for this!"
Seeing this, Ye Feng did not respond and continued to massage her with focus.
The office fell quiet, with only the faint humming of the air conditioner and the sound of their breathing intertwined.
After a while, Gu Ran suddenly opened her eyes, her tone somewhat hesitant: "Ye Feng, do you... have something on your mind?"
Ye Feng's hands paused for a moment, then he continued the massage: "Why do you ask?"
Gu Ran turned her head to look into his eyes: "You've been distracted all day today; is it because of what happened this morning?"
Ye Feng was silent for a few seconds, then finally nodded: "A little, but don't worry, I'll handle it."
Gu Ran wanted to ask more, but Ye Feng had already pulled his hands back and said with a smile: "Alright, massage over, we should go."
Gu Ran stood up and moved her shoulders, feeling much more relaxed.
She looked at Ye Feng, a flash of gratitude in her eyes: "Thank you, Ye Feng."
Ye Feng waved his hand, his tone relaxed: "Don't mention it, let's go, we need to find Old Zhang!"
