Chapter 168: Ye Wan Awakens
After leaving the Ghost Market, Jiangnan and Yun Yubing took Ye Wan back to their own villa. Jiangnan pointed at the soft, large bed, his voice low.
"Put Ye Wan here."
Yun Yubing carefully settled Ye Wan, her eyes full of worry.
"Yun, you go out first and stand guard outside the door."
Yun Yubing, though puzzled, still obediently turned and left, gently closing the door.
Inside the room, Jiangnan stared at the unconscious Ye Wan, his brows knit.
He extended his hand, Qi swirling around his fingertips, and lightly tapped Ye Wan's forehead.
The Qi seeped in like a thread, carefully examining Ye Wan's condition.
After a moment, Jiangnan withdrew his hand, his gaze heavy.
"It's not poisoning, nor any external injury; it's the spirit that has been severely shocked."
Ye Wan's complexion was pale, her breathing weak, as if trapped in an endless nightmare.
Jiangnan took a deep breath; to awaken Ye Wan, he needed to use the Golden Needle Acupuncture.
The method demands extreme precision; the acupoints must be exact, or the consequences would be unimaginable.
These acupoints are spread over the whole body, some even in highly private areas.
Jiangnan's face showed reluctance, but saving a life took precedence; he could not worry about much else now.
His gaze hardened, and he reached to untie Ye Wan's clothing, his movements gentle yet firm.
As the garments fell away, Ye Wan's graceful figure gradually came into view.
Her skin was like snow, her curves elegant, exuding a seductive aura.
Jiangnan forced himself to look away, took out a set of Golden Needles, and prepared to treat her.
The Golden Needles flashed with cold light, glittering under the lamp.
He inhaled deeply, cleared his mind of distractions, and began inserting the needles.
……
Time passed second by second, Jiangnan's expression focused, each needle placed with utmost care.
As the Golden Needles kept dropping, Ye Wan's body twitched slightly, seeming to react.
Jiangnan's eyes brightened, and he continued needling, the speed increasing.
The final needle landed on her lower abdomen, a highly concealed spot.
Jiangnan inhaled again, twisted his fingers lightly, and the Golden Needle sank steadily.
"Hmm..." Ye Wan let out a soft hum, her eyelashes fluttering.
Seeing this, Jiangnan quickly withdrew the Golden Needle, sighing in relief.
He helped Ye Wan dress, covered her with the quilt, and waited quietly.
After a moment, Ye Wan slowly opened her eyes, her gaze dazed.
"Ye Wan, you're awake?"
Ye Wan's gaze gradually focused; seeing Jiangnan, surprise rose in her eyes.
"Mr. Jiang, you saved me?"
Her voice was weak, tinged with gratitude.
"Rest first; whatever it is, we'll talk later."
Ye Wan nodded, closed her eyes again, and fell into deep sleep.
Jiangnan stepped out of the room and saw Yun Yubing waiting anxiously.
"She's awake, but needs rest."
Yun Yubing exhaled, feeling a great weight lift from her heart.
……
Two hours slipped by silently.
Ye Wan's eyelashes fluttered lightly as she slowly opened her eyes, and what met her gaze was a familiar yet strange ceiling.
"What is this..."
Her voice was hoarse, tinged with bewilderment, as memories surged like a tide, instantly overwhelming her.
"Ye Wan, you're awake."
Jiangnan's voice sounded in her ear, low and magnetic.
Ye Wan sat up abruptly, her eyes urgently searching for the source, finally fixing on Jiangnan.
"Mr. Jiang, where am I?"
Her voice trembled, her eyes full of unease and doubt. Jiangnan walked to the bedside, his gaze carrying a hint of concern.
"You are safe now, at my home."
Ye Wan looked around; the room was simply and warmly furnished, starkly different from the grim, terrifying Ghost Market of her memory.
"I... how did I end up here?"
"I saved you out of there."
Jiangnan's tone was calm, as if stating a trivial matter.
Ye Wan suddenly looked up, a glimmer of hope flashing in her eyes:
"Mr. Jiang, what about the Ye family? How are they?"
Jiangnan was silent for a moment, his gaze deepening as he weighed how to answer.
"Ye family..." he began slowly, his voice low,
"... is gone."
Ye Wan seemed struck by lightning; her complexion turned instantly as pale as paper, and her body began to tremble violently.
"No... no? What does that mean?"
Her voice trembled badly, and her eyes were filled with disbelief.
"The Ye family has been wiped out; none survived."
Jiangnan's voice was calm, yet like a sharp blade, it pierced Ye Wan's heart.
Ye Wan's eyes widened, tears burst from her eyes, sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto the pristine sheets.
"No... impossible! This can't be!"
She sobbed hoarsely, her voice bleak and heart‑wrenching.
Jiangnan watched her quietly, a flash of compassion in his eyes, yet he said nothing to comfort her.
Ye Wan cried until hoarse, as if trying to pour out all her sorrow and pain.
"Why? Why did this happen?"
She lifted her tear‑filled eyes and asked hoarsely.
Jiangnan's gaze was complex; he let out a light sigh, "The story behind this is long; you should calm down first."
Ye Wan shook her head, tears continuously streaming, "No, I want to know! I want to know the truth!"
Jiangnan looked at her, his eyes firm, "Fine, but I haven't clarified the details yet."
He relayed the relevant information he knew to Ye Wan.
Ye Wan listened quietly, her tears already soaking the pillowcase, her eyes full of despair and hatred.
"Mr. Jiang, I beg you... please avenge me!" Ye Wan suddenly knelt on the bed, her voice hoarse.
Her eyes reddened, she stared fixedly at Jiangnan, her gaze filled with pleading and resolve.
"I, Ye Wan, owe my life to you; from now on, I am yours!"
"As long as you are willing to avenge the Ye family, I will do anything!"
Ye Wan's voice trembled, yet was utterly resolute.
She slowly reached out, unfastened the ties of her nightgown, revealing snow‑white skin and a graceful figure.
Jiangnan's gaze hardened, and he turned his head away immediately, "Ye Wan, what are you doing?"
"Mr. Jiang, I know you're not interested in me, but now I have only myself."
Ye Wan gave a mournful smile, a flash of determination in her eyes, "As long as you are willing to help me, I can give you anything."
Jiangnan furrowed his brows, his voice deep, "Ye Wan, you misunderstand; my help has nothing to do with this."
"I have some ties with the Ye family; I will not stand by idly." Jiangnan's tone was firm, leaving no doubt.
Ye Wan lifted her head, tear‑filled eyes gazing at Jiangnan, a glimmer of hope flashing within.
"Really? You truly are willing to help me?" her voice trembled, tinged with disbelief.
"Hmm." Jiangnan nodded, "Rest first; I will handle the revenge."
Ye Wan clutched Jiangnan's hand tightly, as if seizing the last lifeline.
"Mr. Jiang, thank you... thank you..." she sobbed, hugging Jiangnan tightly.
Jiangnan's body stiffened; feeling Ye Wan's softness and tremor, a complex emotion rose within him.
He gently patted Ye Wan's back and whispered, "Sleep now; everything will get better."
Ye Wan, in Jiangnan's arms, wept and fell into a deep sleep, her tears soaking the clothing on his chest.
Jiangnan gently placed Ye Wan on the bed, tucked the blanket over her, and looked at her sleeping face with a complicated gaze.
He turned, left the room, softly closed the door, and went to the living room, where Yun Yubing was sitting on the sofa waiting for him.
"How is she?" Yun Yubing stood up, asking with concern.
"She's already asleep; her emotions are relatively stable," Jiangnan said, walking to the window and looking out at the night.
"The Ye family was wiped out; she must be very sad," Yun Yubing sighed lightly, a hint of sympathy in his eyes.
"Indeed, the whole clan, only she remains," Jiangnan's voice was low, tinged with a sigh.
"What are you planning to do next?" Yun Yubing walked to Jiangnan's side and asked softly.
Jiangnan was silent for a moment, his gaze becoming resolute:
"Find the mastermind behind this and avenge the Ye family."
