Chapter 63: Master

~7 min read 1,217 words

"Yang Ju, but I need to be away for a while."

Jiangnan suddenly spoke, his tone carrying a hint of resolve.

"Leave? Where to go?"

Yang Ju was a bit stunned; he couldn't at all understand what Jiangnan intended to do.

"I'm going to find my master."

Jiangnan replied, his tone leaving no room for doubt.

"Your master? Can he handle it?"

Yang Ju, half believing, half doubting, asked.

"The old man is a recluse of great talent."

Jiangnan's mouth twitched upward slightly, revealing a mysterious smile.

"Fine, then go. I hope your master, the old man, can deal with these Black Shadow remnants."

Yang Ju sighed, a deep shade of disappointment flashing across his face.

"Chen Ying, go with Jiangnan; it'll be good to have support on the road."

"Yes, Yang Ju!"

Chen Ying stood at attention and saluted, looking dashing.

The two left the police station, and Chen Ying couldn't help but ask:

"Jiangnan, are we really going to find your master?"

"No."

Jiangnan shook his head, his gaze profound.

"Then where are we going?"

Chen Ying wore a puzzled expression.

"Right in Jinghai City, we stay hidden."

Jiangnan's tone was calm, yet exuded confidence.

"Huh? Why?"

Chen Ying was even more confused.

"Because there's a mole inside the police station."

Jiangnan's words were startling.

"A mole? Who?"

Chen Ying gasped, her voice changing tone.

"Ma Dui."

Jiangnan's eyes flickered slightly, and he said in a deep voice.

"Impossible!"

Chen Ying retorted resolutely.

"Ma Duizhang is an old police officer; how could he be a mole?"

"Mr. Jiang, are you serious?"

Chen Ying looked at Jiangnan, her eyes flashing with complex light.

"Just a guess."

Jiangnan said lightly.

……

Public Security Bureau,

Ma Dui sat alone in a slightly dim office.

He looked around, confirmed no one was present, then took out his phone.

He dialed a mysterious number.

"Hello, it's me."

Ma Dui lowered his voice, speaking urgently.

"There's a kid named Jiangnan who guessed our objective."

"Tell your people to act quickly!"

On the other end, a low, hoarse voice came.

"Now every bank in Jinghai City has Security Officers on hand."

"The amount of gold is insufficient."

"You need to find a way to distract those Security Officers."

Ma Dui furrowed his brows, lost in thought.

"This…"

He was somewhat troubled.

"How to distract them?"

"This matter isn't easy to handle."

"Do you know that this is a command personally issued by Yang Ju? I have no authority at all!"

The other side was silent for a moment.

"I don't care what method you use; it must be resolved quickly!"

"The boss is pressing hard; there's no time left!"

"Do you understand?"

"Impossible, I can't do it!"

Ma Dui shook his head, his tone resolute.

"What kind of joke is this? I'm just a public security officer, a petty official the size of a sesame seed, how could I possibly interfere with Yang Ju's orders?"

"You should give up, I really can't do this!"

"Fifty million, if you can manage it, I'll give you fifty million."

On the other end of the phone, a voice came again.

Ma Dui's eyes brightened, his thoughts became active. If the other side truly offered him fifty million, his status would change, and once overseas, wouldn't the latter half of his life be nothing but leisure?

"That's not enough; do you know how much risk I have to bear!"

In Ma Dui's voice there was a hint of greed and hysteria.

However, the other end fell silent. After a moment, a cold voice came.

"Ma Dui, it seems you haven't grasped the situation."

"We mentioned cooperation to show our sincerity. But we could also refuse, and you must still do as we say."

"Otherwise, your family..."

Black Shadow didn't continue, but the threat was obvious.

"How dare you!"

Ma Duizhang's pupils snapped shut, and his tone rose an octave.

"If you dare harm my family, I'll go all out against you!"

"Hahaha…"

Black Shadow laughed up at the sky, his laughter full of mockery.

"Go all out against me?"

"What will you use to go all out against us?"

"Besides, can you even find us?"

"You'd better listen obediently; otherwise, you'll regret it."

The voice on the other end abruptly stopped,

Ma Dui sat dumbfounded on the floor, his gaze hollow, like a lost soul.

After a while, he finally came to his senses, a hint of smugness flashing in his eyes. He looked out the window and muttered:

"With fifty million, will I still lack women?"

"Only a pity, it seems fifty million is their limit. I originally wanted a modest target."

Ma Dui slowly stood up and straightened his clothes.

What he has to do now is create an opportunity for Black Shadow's men.

Of course, the premise is that those men still send him a deposit according to the previous cooperation terms; otherwise he won't help!

While Ma Dui was thinking that, his phone screen suddenly lit up.

He glanced at the phone, a flash of wild joy in his eyes!

Twenty million, deposited!

"Yang Ju, I request to go to the front line."

Ma Duizhang pushed open Yang Ju's office door, a trace of fatigue on his face.

"Old Ma, are you sure?"

Yang Ju looked up, saw Ma Duizhang, and was somewhat surprised.

"You've worked hard all day, won't you rest?"

"Yang Ju, I'm fine."

Ma Duizhang shook his head, a flash of determination in his eyes.

"It's not that I can't let go of the case, is it?"

"You, sometimes you're just too stubborn! I acknowledge Mr. Jiang's abilities. Why do you have to go against him?"

Yang Ju shook his head, a hint of helplessness.

"Enough, let's not talk about that. Health is the capital of revolution; you must take care of yourself."

"I understand, Yang Ju."

Ma Duizhang nodded, his gaze a bit evasive. Then he immediately left Yang Ju's office and let out a long sigh.

He felt his back soaked through.

"This job really isn't something a person can handle."

He wiped the sweat from his forehead, muttering under his breath.

"I must get the money quickly, then disappear far away."

He made up his mind and hurried away from the Public Security Bureau.

A moonless, windy night—a night for murder and arson.

Tonight in Jinghai City, unrest is destined.

Ma Duizhang hurried out of the police station, jumped into a Hanland sedan, floored the accelerator, and the car, like a wild horse unbridled, surged into the vast night.

He didn't know, not far behind him, a black Audi, like a ghost, silently followed.

Inside the Audi, Jiangnan and Chen Ying sat side by side in the back seat, eyes blazing, fixed on the Santana ahead.

"Ma Dui, you're out all night not going home; where are you headed?"

Chen Ying's brows furrowed slightly, her tone tinged with doubt.

Jiangnan didn't speak, merely watching silently, his gaze deep, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.

"Mr. Jiang, he wouldn't really be colluding with the bandits, would he?"

Chen Ying turned her head to look at Jiangnan, asking tentatively.

Just keep watching.

Jiangnan remained terse.

Chen Ying nodded, then turned her head to keep staring ahead.

"This guy, driving so fast—could he have spotted us?"
