Chapter 166: I Do Not Want to Be Your Chu Family's Daughter-in-Law

~7 min read 1,354 words

"No need."

Cheng Wan did not need investment, especially not from someone like Cheng Huade.

She did not like Cheng Huade; his daughter had committed a wrong, yet he had not offered a single apology to this day and was still trying to use money to pressure people.

High and mighty.

"I don't need Mr. Cheng's investment. I said it before: someone must be held responsible for this matter. Either your daughter goes to jail, or you find evidence that Qin Yunshu instigated it."

"Cheng Wan, don't push your luck." Lady Qin could no longer hold back.

Cheng Wan was forcing Cheng Huade to deal with Qin Yunshu.

And for the sake of his daughter, there was no telling what Cheng Huade might do to target Qin Yunshu.

Cheng Wan felt a little like laughing. "You kidnapped my son, and you still think I'm pushing my luck? What, in your eyes, is a child's life not a life? Or do I have to make concessions just because you say so?"

She was no longer the daughter who could be kneaded by Lady Qin.

Lady Qin said hatefully, "No matter what, you are still Yun Shu's sister-in-law; we are one family."

She was out of options and could only bring up family ties to try and persuade Cheng Wan.

But Cheng Wan and Chu Li were not yet remarried.

To Cheng Wan, Lady Qin's so-called "sister-in-law" sounded like a joke.

"One family?" She looked at Lady Qin with mockery. "How are you even embarrassed to say those three words?"

Lady Qin's face turned white, then red, then green; it was quite a spectacle.

"Cheng Wan, do you really have to pin this on me?" Qin Yunshu asked, looking pitiful.

Cheng Wan said coldly and aloofly, "I said it already: it depends on Mr. Cheng's intentions."

"You..." Qin Yunshu lost her composure slightly.

But her greatest reliance now, Chu Li, did not utter a sound while Cheng Wan was speaking.

Cheng Huade stared coldly at Qin Yunshu. It wasn't that he had no way to get evidence, but he couldn't grasp Chu Li's attitude.

Was Chu Li ultimately on Cheng Wan's side, or was he protecting this sister, Qin Yunshu...

He could not see through it.

The atmosphere reached a stalemate once again.

"Why is everyone here?" An unfamiliar female voice came.

Cheng Wan turned to look and saw an unfamiliar middle-aged woman, with a woman of about twenty-five or twenty-six following beside her.

Chu Li's brows twitched slightly, but he quickly returned to normal.

"Aunt."

Cheng Wan then understood the identity of the woman before her.

This was Chu Li's aunt, Chu Yue.

The young woman beside her was her daughter, Chu Fangfei.

Chu Yue walked in, looking graceful and luxurious.

Chu Fangfei wore a beige suit, looking very capable.

Chu Yue walked up to Qin Yunshu and touched her face gently and lovingly.

"Such a beautiful girl, crying until her eyes are swollen; it's truly pitiful."

For some reason, even though the woman before her was exceptionally kind, Qin Yunshu instead hid behind Lady Qin in even greater fear.

After hiding halfway, she seemed to remember something and dared not move again.

Chu Yue rubbed her fingers against Qin Yunshu's chin twice and said with a smile, "Don't know how to greet people?"

Qin Yunshu realized, her face pale, and she called out in a low voice.

"Aunt."

Chu Yue withdrew her hand, satisfied.

She walked back to Chu Li's side and said in a friendly manner, "Our family hasn't added any new members in over a decade. Now that there is one more sister, it is a joyous occasion; you should cherish her more."

Cheng Wan stood to the side and finally understood: this aunt of Chu Li's had come to back Qin Yunshu.

The thought of greeting her immediately vanished.

Chu Li, however, took Cheng Wan's hand. "Aunt, this is Cheng Wan, my wife."

Chu Yue kept her warm smile, but her words were not very polite.

"I know, your ex-wife."

The corners of Cheng Wan's lips moved, but she did not greet her.

She just stood there coldly and aloofly.

This aunt of Chu Li's had a smile for everyone, appearing exceptionally kind and warm, but in reality, she hid very heavy intentions beneath that smile.

Very fake.

Chu Fangfei also gave Cheng Wan an exceptionally friendly smile.

Cheng Wan acted as if she didn't see it.

Chu Fangfei's smile vanished instantly.

After finishing her greetings, Chu Yue looked at Cheng Huade. "President Cheng, we haven't seen each other in many years."

Cheng Huade snorted coldly. "What's the use of seeing each other? The younger generation of your Chu family is something else now; I even have to watch their expressions just to get by."

Chu Yue said with a smile, "The younger ones are ignorant, letting a small matter blow up like this."

Without consulting anyone, she made the decision directly.

"This matter was originally just a misunderstanding. A Li, just give your aunt some face and release Mingzhu."

Cheng Wan pulled her hand from Chu Li's palm.

She was the person directly involved, the mother of the victim, yet Chu Yue ignored her completely and demanded that Chu Li release Cheng Mingzhu.

"I do not agree."

She looked at Chu Yue with an expressionless face, "Cheng Mingzhu kidnapped my son, so she should pay the price."

The smile on Chu Yue's face faded; she frowned, appearing rather impolite.

"Cheng Wan, although you and A Li have already divorced, you are currently carrying the legitimate grandchild of the Cheng Family, so you are still considered a daughter-in-law of the Cheng Family; you should think for the sake of the Cheng Family and not act on impulse."

"I have no desire to be a daughter-in-law of your Cheng Family," Cheng Wan retorted directly.

From Chu Yue's tone, she sensed deep disdain.

Therefore, there was no need to be polite.

Having been contradicted time and again, Chu Yue's expression became somewhat unpleasant.

"Are you insisting on destroying the marital ties between the Cheng Family and the Cheng Family?"

Just as Cheng Wan was about to speak, Chu Li already said, "Aunt, this matter..."

"This matter ends here," Chu Yue interrupted Chu Li, "The child was frightened; just bring him to see a doctor, there is no need to make such a scene."

Upon hearing these words, Cheng Huade was exceptionally pleased.

Qin Yunshu also breathed a sigh of relief.

Cheng Wan looked around and let out a scoffing laugh.

"I, the person directly involved, am still standing right here, and you have already made the decision?"

Chu Yue was displeased, "Cheng Wan, that is enough."

"Aunt, this matter is indeed Cheng Mingzhu's fault," Chu Li urged, "Please do not interfere."

"I have the final say," Chu Yue acted as if she had not heard the words of Cheng Wan and Chu Li, and announced directly, "President Cheng, I have already made the arrangements; go and pick up Mingzhu."

Cheng Huade expressed his thanks and left immediately.

Cheng Wan wanted to speak further, but her wrist was gripped tightly by Chu Li.

"Aunt," he said disapprovingly, "Wan Wan does not agree to this, and neither do I."

"It is not your son, so why are you in such a rush?"

"But..."

Chu Yue returned to her gentle, smiling appearance, "A Li, I have had the people at the Old Residence prepare dinner; remember to come home for dinner tonight."

Chu Li was silent for a few seconds, then agreed.

He pulled Cheng Wan away.

Once they were out of the hospital room, Cheng Wan shook off Chu Li.

She sneered, her eyes red with anger.

"Did the appearance of this aunt of yours solve a big problem for you, allowing you to neither offend Cheng Huade nor lose Qin Yunshu?"

Chu Li rubbed his brow, "I did not know she would come."

Ever since she married, his aunt had been living in another province.

They only visited during holidays and festivals.

She had not given any advance notice of her arrival this time.
