Chapter 165: What He Was Jealous Of Was Never Qin Ping'an
Cheng Wan set her alarm for five o'clock.
As soon as the alarm rang, she was immediately wide awake.
She climbed out of bed on tiptoe, only to be pulled back by Chu Li.
"What are you doing?"
He asked, his voice raspy from being woken up.
Cheng Wan tugged at her wrist, but he held on tight, so she could only say, "I'm going to check on Ping'an; I'm afraid he'll cry if he wakes up and doesn't see me."
Chu Li was unwilling to let her go.
"Wen Lvzhong is there."
Cheng Wan was silent for a few seconds, her voice as heavy as the darkness in the room, "Chu Li, he is still a child."
Qin Ping'an was three years old; was Chu Li going to be jealous of even him?
In the dim light, Chu Li watched her cold, detached expression; his brow was furrowed in impatience.
He slowly loosened his grip.
The door to the master bedroom opened and closed.
Chu Li reached out to cover his eyes; what he was jealous of was never Qin Ping'an.
Cheng Wan opened the door on tiptoe and saw Wen Lvzhong leaning against the headboard, already fully dressed as if he had been up for a while.
Cheng Wan knew it was because he knew she would be coming over in the morning, so he had dressed early to avoid any awkwardness when she entered.
She simply leaned against the headboard and sat down.
Wen Lvzhong turned his head to look at her, "He was willing to let you come over?"
Cheng Wan touched Qin Ping'an's little face, "That's my business, he has no say in it."
Wen Lvzhong laughed softly, "You, you still have your own mind as always."
Cheng Wan's hand paused, "You remembered?"
He had said this sentence before.
"Only remembered a little bit."
After learning what happened three years ago from Madam Wen, Wen Lvzhong had gone to the Yiyuan for a re-examination; his amnesia was due to the blood clot still pressing on his brain, and he had been taking medication again during this time.
Occasionally, he could recall some scenes from the past, but for some reason, the things he remembered were all related to Cheng Wan, while he hadn't remembered a single thing about Qin Xingwan.
Cheng Wan patted Qin Ping'an gently and asked him about his work.
"Everything is fine."
Wen Lvzhong had followed his family's arrangements to enter politics, and it had been smooth sailing.
After a moment of silence.
Wen Lvzhong said, "I heard Chu Li gave you a production line?"
Cheng Wan rested her head on her hand and nodded, "Yes, from what I heard at the factory, they are renovating four of the five production lines and leaving one for me."
"Renovating?"
"Yes, it seems they don't intend to continue with it."
Wen Lvzhong looked up at the cabinet not far away, thinking about the matter Madam Wen had mentioned.
Thinking about it, it shouldn't have anything to do with Chu Li.
After all, if it were Chu Li, it would be impossible for him to shut down the perfume production line.
Who else could it be in the Chu family?
I really hope my memory can recover soon.
Unable to find a lead, his head began to ache faintly.
Wen Lvzhong said, "You should sleep a little longer; I'll take Ping'an downstairs once he wakes up."
Cheng Wan was pregnant and was always more tired.
Cheng Wan nodded, turned to lie down beside Qin Ping'an, and quickly fell asleep.
When she woke up, it was already nine o'clock.
In the room, neither Wen Lvzhong nor Ping'an were there anymore.
She went to the master bedroom to wash up and then went downstairs.
The servant saw her and immediately brought over breakfast, "Madam."
Cheng Wan glanced at the living room; Chu Li and Wen Lvzhong were playing with Ping'an, and it was quite harmonious.
After she finished breakfast, she planned to go to the Yiyuan.
Chu Li grabbed the car keys, intending to accompany her.
Cheng Wan didn't say anything, but Wen Lvzhong said, "Go ahead, I'll look after Ping'an."
"Okay."
At the Yiyuan, before they even reached Lin Qingya's ward, they heard arguing coming from Qin Yun Shu's ward not far away.
Cheng Huade's voice was very loud, "Qin Yun Shu, come with me to the Police Station and explain clearly; it was you who instigated Mingzhu."
Qin Yun Shu's sobbing was particularly distinct, "It wasn't me, it really wasn't me; it was Mingzhu who wanted to go herself, I tried to persuade her."
Lady Qin was also on the side saying, "Your daughter committed a crime, yet you want Yun Shu to take the blame; what kind of logic is this? Our Yun Shu is A Li's own sister, don't go too far."
Cheng Huade was stunned for a moment, "Own sister?"
The fact that Qin Yun Shu was Chu Bolin's biological daughter and Chu Li's own sister was not yet known to many people.
Chu Li walked in, and Qin Yun Shu looked at him with teary eyes, "Brother."
Lady Qin said hurriedly, "A Li, persuade Mr. Cheng; he insists on having Yun Shu take the blame for his daughter."
Cheng Huade frowned and asked Chu Li, "Is Qin Yun Shu your sister?"
"Mm." Chu Li nodded indifferently.
Cheng Huade was speechless for a moment.
He had never liked Qin Yun Shu to begin with; if it hadn't been for Cheng Han suddenly going crazy later, insisting on marrying no one but Qin Yun Shu, he had intended to find Cheng Han a wife of equal social standing.
This time, when Cheng Mingzhu had an accident, Cheng Huade was furious the moment he heard it was actually instigated by Qin Yun Shu.
But now that Qin Yun Shu had suddenly changed from a foster sister to a biological sister, this matter was not easy to resolve.
After all, when Qin Yun Shu was still just a foster sister, Chu Li was already completely submissive to her; now that her status had been elevated, he could only dote on her even more.
After a long while, Cheng Huade said coldly, "This matter must be given an explanation."
Cheng Wan walked in, "The law has its own regulations; what kind of explanation does Mr. Cheng want?"
Cheng Huade's expression sank.
Compared to Qin Yun Shu, he disliked Cheng Wan even more.
After all, if it weren't for Cheng Wan, his daughter Mingzhu would be Mrs. Chu.
"Are you saying that Mingzhu should just go to jail?"
"She kidnapped my son."
The atmosphere remained at a stalemate.
Cheng Wan was Qin Ping'an's guardian; if she did not agree to a settlement, then Cheng Huade only had two choices.
Either let Cheng Mingzhu go to jail, or find evidence that Qin Yun Shu instigated Cheng Mingzhu.
Cheng Huade could not communicate with Cheng Wan, so he looked at Chu Li, "Our two families are old friends, and you and Cheng Han grew up together; Mingzhu also counts as half a sister to you. You can't really just watch her go to jail, can you?"
Qin Ping'an and Chu Li had no blood relationship.
There was no reason for Chu Li to protect him.
However, Chu Li was not as he had imagined.
He was exceptionally cold and indifferent as he reminded Cheng Huade.
"Uncle Cheng, this is the second time."
Previously, Cheng Mingzhu had done things she shouldn't have and was taken away by Cheng Huade, who was abroad.
"If Uncle Cheng cannot teach your daughter well, I don't mind disciplining her for you."
Cheng Huade was infuriated by his cold attitude.
"Chu Li, you know full well that Mingzhu was deceived by Qin Yun Shu. Are you now prepared to defend Qin Yun Shu and let my daughter go to jail?"
Chu Li glanced at Qin Yun Shu, his gaze cold and sharp.
Qin Yun Shu shrank back behind Lady Qin.
Chu Li withdrew his gaze and looked at Cheng Huade, "So, Uncle Cheng, does that mean your daughter is innocent?"
"She participated in a kidnapping and caused great psychological trauma to the child. Can all of this be offset by just a word from you?"
Cheng Huade was left speechless by his aggressive questioning.
Unable to outtalk Chu Li, he looked at Cheng Wan again, "Your son didn't suffer any substantial harm from beginning to end; I can provide you with compensation until you are satisfied."
"I heard your studio has just started up; I can invest in your studio in my personal capacity."
