Chapter 172: The Hypocritical Aunt
Cheng Mingzhu had heard Cheng Huade mention that the reason she was able to get out of the Police Station was all because this aunt named Chu Yue had helped out.
She reined in her temper and thanked Chu Yue.
Then she looked at Qin Yun Shu and made a harsh threat.
"For the sake of my aunt, I'll spare you this time. Don't fall into my hands next time, or I'll make you wish you were dead."
Chu Yue shook her head, still smiling.
She played the part of a loving elder with exceptional familiarity.
Cheng Mingzhu left the hospital room.
Chu Yue's smile faded slightly.
She walked to the bedside and looked down at Qin Yun Shu.
Qin Yun Shu crawled out from Lady Qin's embrace and called out in a low voice, "Aunt."
"Slap!"
Chu Yue withdrew her hand and said coldly, "Idiot."
Qin Yun Shu clutched her cheek, not daring to cry out loud at all.
Lady Qin came back to her senses and blocked Qin Yun Shu behind her: "How can you hit someone?"
Chu Yue stared at her icily, "Get out."
Lady Qin was forcibly escorted out by bodyguards.
There were only Chu Yue and Qin Yun Shu left in the hospital room.
Qin Yun Shu bit her lip and slowly climbed down from the hospital bed; a look of fear appeared on her face, hidden beneath her long hair.
"Aunt."
Chu Yue walked slowly to the sofa and sat down, her gentle temperament replaced by sharpness.
"Qin Yun Shu, I really didn't realize you were such a fool."
Qin Yun Shu clenched her fingers, her face flushed red, but she dared not retort.
"The most important thing for you right now is to return to the Chu family, yet you insist on lying in the Yiyuan. What, are you waiting for me to send a sedan chair to invite you back?"
Chu Yue scolded her unceremoniously.
Qin Yun Shu lowered her head and explained herself, "I... I didn't mean to, I just..."
"Didn't mean to?" Chu Yue exposed Qin Yun Shu's little scheme, "You're waiting for Chu Li to come pick you up, aren't you? Qin Yun Shu, do you still think you're the Qin Yun Shu you once were, who could receive his affection?"
"Qin Yun Shu, with the things you've done, if I were Chu Li, I would have kicked you out long ago."
Qin Yun Shu felt humiliated.
"As a younger sister, you're competing with Cheng Wan over who is more important in Chu Li's heart? Are you a three-year-old child?"
Qin Yun Shu held back her tears.
That was right.
She had been staying in the Yiyuan the whole time just to wait for Chu Li to come and take her back, to prove that she still had a place in his heart.
But Chu Li... he had changed.
Chu Yue rubbed the jade ring on the ring finger of her left hand and said indifferently, "Tonight, you will accompany me to apologize to Cheng Wan."
Qin Yun Shu was unwilling.
"I don't..."
But when she met Chu Yue's gaze, the words in her mouth were swallowed back down.
She dared not speak anymore.
Seeing her like that, Chu Yue sneered, "Qin Yun Shu, I was the one who fished you back when you were abroad. If you don't listen, I don't mind sending you back."
Qin Yun Shu's face turned pale.
The three years abroad had not been easy for her.
"I understand." She could only agree.
Chu Yue said indifferently, "This time, you must get on good terms with Cheng Wan and get the Perfume Notes in her possession."
Qin Yun Shu gathered the courage to retort, "No matter how good the formula is, it's outdated now. Do you really need that notebook?"
Chu Yue's expression twisted, "Qin Yun Shu, the more you know, the faster you die. Don't you understand this principle?"
Qin Yun Shu cowered and didn't dare say another word.
Cheng Wan had been thinking about Chu Yue.
Chu Yue didn't give her a good feeling; she wasn't as simple as she appeared.
"Wanwan, what's wrong?" Seeing her lost in thought with her brows still furrowed, Lin Qingya asked.
Cheng Wan came back to her senses: "It's nothing. I have an order with a lot of requirements, and I'm thinking about how to formulate it."
Lin Qingya urged her to go back.
Cheng Wan shook her head, "I won't have any inspiration if I go back now. I'd rather stay here and keep you company."
She asked, "Has Cheng Han been here?"
Lin Qingya didn't expect her to mention Cheng Han; she was stunned for a moment before shaking her head.
"No."
Perhaps because she had made things clear that day, Cheng Han felt a guilty conscience, so he hadn't appeared for these two days.
Lin Qingya wished he wouldn't appear.
As for Cheng Han, she had already severed the last shred of affection.
Cheng Wan sighed slightly, "Cheng Han and Qin Yun Shu could have divorced, but now that Chu Li's aunt has interfered, I suspect they won't be able to."
"Why would he divorce the woman he tried every possible way to marry?" Lin Qingya curled her lip.
Cheng Han and Qin Yun Shu have been together since three years ago.
She remembers clearly that when she went to find Cheng Han to explain, Cheng Han pulled Qin Yun Shu along and said he liked Qin Yun Shu, and that she was just a fling to him.
Thinking back on those past events, the bone-deep pain still remains.
This time, having paid the price of one hand, she finally understood.
"After the surgery, I want to go abroad." Lin Qingya had already made plans in her heart.
She has unfinished dreams, and even though her hand is disabled, she still wants to pursue them.
"Okay." Cheng Wan was happy for her.
Lin Qingya thought for a moment and then said, "Wait until the baby is born."
Nowadays, Cheng Wan only has her left.
She must stay to accompany Cheng Wan.
At the very least, she wants to see the baby born.
Cheng Wan stroked her lower abdomen, feeling soft inside.
She also hopes that when the baby is born, Lin Qingya can be by her side.
"Then come to my place after you are discharged from the hospital," Cheng Wan planned for her friend, "I have an assistant named Xiao Yu; she is a very good child, and you will get along very well with her."
Lin Qingya agreed, treating it as taking a few months off for herself.
When Cheng Wan left, Chu Yue happened to be coming out of Qin Yun Shu's hospital room.
Cheng Wan immediately wanted to avoid her, but she was still seen by Chu Yue.
She smiled and greeted her, "Wanwan."
It was very intimate.
Cheng Wan wanted to pretend she didn't hear, but the people beside Chu Yue had already walked over and blocked her path.
"Is there something?" Cheng Wan's attitude was cold.
Chu Yue affectionately took her hand and said softly, "It's like this, Fangfei is about to take over the work of the Perfume Division, and I want to hold a small party for her at home. I've invited quite a few relatives and friends, and it's tonight; you should come and join in the fun."
Cheng Wan pulled her hand away and refused.
"I can't go; I need to rest."
She is pregnant with a child, so the excuse of resting is reasonable.
But Chu Yue acted as if she hadn't heard and continued on her own, "It's about that time anyway, you might as well just come with me. I'll tell A Li so he doesn't have to go back to pick you up."
Two bodyguards stepped forward, with the clear posture that if Cheng Wan didn't agree, they would drag her there if they had to.
Cheng Wan frowned, "I'm tired and need to go back to rest."
Chu Yue smiled, "Wanwan, if you insist on being stubborn and get bumped or bruised, and something happens to the little one in your belly, you can't blame me."
Concerned for the child in her belly, Cheng Wan had no choice but to leave with Chu Yue.
Chu Yue brought her back to the Old Residence.
When Cheng Wan got out of the car, Madam Chu was already waiting by the car door.
Almost immediately, she took Cheng Wan's arm, "Come with me."
Her protective stance was very evident.
Chu Yue just smiled faintly, "Sister-in-law, you must take good care of Wanwan; I'm going to get busy."
She left.
Madam Chu snorted behind her back, "Hypocritical."
