Chapter 189: Cheng Han Has Woken Up
Cheng Wan rubbed her forehead and sat up.
After a sleep, she felt even more tired.
She checked the time; it was already ten o'clock the next morning.
The bedroom door was pushed open, and Qin Ping'an poked his little head in; discovering she was awake, he immediately ran in happily.
"Mom," he said, holding up the toy in his hands, "I finished building the blocks."
He smiled shyly: "Uncle Chu helped me finish it."
Cheng Wan rubbed his head, "Then did you thank Uncle Chu?"
Matters between adults should not affect the child.
Qin Ping'an nodded, "I said thank you."
"Pack up the toys you like; we are going home in a little while," Cheng Wan said to the child in a soft voice.
Qin Ping'an was very happy and cheered: "Going home!"
After being happy for a moment, he asked again: "Is Uncle Chu going with us?"
In his heart, he had already treated Chu Li as family.
He wanted to be together wherever they went.
Cheng Wan smiled and shook her head, "Uncle Chu has his own things to be busy with. If Ping'an misses him in the future, you can come find him, okay?"
Qin Ping'an was a little disappointed, but he still agreed.
He skipped back to his room to pack his things.
After Cheng Wan finished washing up and came out, Chu Li was in the room.
He was standing by the window, and hearing the sound, he turned his head to look at her.
"Ping'an said you are leaving?"
Cheng Wan's state of mind had long since calmed down.
After all, for her, the most important things now were work and finding Lin Qingya.
As long as Lin Qingya's body had not been found, she would believe that Lin Qingya was still alive.
She had already entrusted people to search and inquire along the river.
She would always be able to find her.
"Yes, we are leaving today," Cheng Wan looked around at the things in the bedroom.
She hadn't brought much when she came, and it seemed there was nothing to pack when she left.
"Wanwan, must you go?" Chu Li tried to persuade her to stay.
In the end, he still couldn't bear to let her go.
But he no longer had any qualification to ask her to stay.
"Chu Li, you are still young; you will meet someone who loves you wholeheartedly in the future," Cheng Wan forced the corners of her mouth to lift.
She hoped they could part on good terms.
At the very least, in the future, Chu Li should not pester her anymore.
Chu Li felt miserable; he impulsively walked over and pulled Cheng Wan into his arms.
He hugged her tightly.
"Wanwan."
Cheng Wan let him hold her, her heart as still as stagnant water.
Just then, Chu Li's phone rang; it was a call from the Yiyuan, Cheng Han had woken up.
Chu Li gripped Cheng Wan's hand, "Let's go to the Yiyuan."
Cheng Wan's heart rate accelerated, "Okay."
The two hurried to the Yiyuan.
Cheng Han had already been transferred from the intensive care unit to a general ward and could see visitors.
Chu Li went to the doctor's office.
Cheng Wan walked to the door of the ward and heard Qin Yunshu's crying.
"Cheng Han, you scared me to death," Qin Yunshu recounted her worries from the past few days, "If something were to happen to you, what would I do?"
She didn't mention at all that Cheng Han had left all his assets to Cheng Wan.
Cheng Han's weak voice sounded, "I have great fortune and a tough life; I can't die."
His voice was uncharacteristically gentle.
Qin Yunshu noticed it.
"Cheng Han."
Cheng Wan couldn't listen anymore; she pushed the door open and entered, interrupting the tenderness in the room.
"You're awake," Cheng Wan walked to the side of the hospital bed; she had originally wanted to call him brother, but seeing him in person, she couldn't quite bring herself to say it.
Cheng Han forced a smile, "Are you alright?"
Cheng Wan shook her head, her lips pressed together.
Qin Yunshu said deliberately: "Cheng Wan, you clearly know that Cheng Han is your brother, why don't you call him that?"
Cheng Han was shocked, and his body even gained some strength.
Did Cheng Wan already know?
Then would she be willing to acknowledge him as her brother? Cheng Han felt anxious in his heart.
Cheng Wan adjusted her mindset and opened her mouth to call him, "Brother."
Once this word was spoken, her whole person felt much more relaxed.
Cheng Han smiled, his eyes curving into crescents, "Mm."
Qin Yunshu watched with envy; even if Cheng Wan was Cheng Han's younger sister, she still felt jealous.
They were both younger sisters, yet Cheng Han doted on Cheng Wan immensely, while Chu Li, on the contrary, was becoming increasingly cold.
"How are you feeling?" Cheng Wan asked in a low voice, inquiring about Cheng Han's condition.
"I'm fine, I'll be better in a few days."
If not for the wound on his chest, Cheng Han would have patted his chest to guarantee it.
"That knife was just a hair's breadth away from your heart; how could you possibly be better in a few days?" Qin Yunshu began to shed tears again.
At the mention of this, Cheng Han's expression turned somewhat dull.
He asked, "What about Lin Qingya? Has she been found?"
His tone was stiff, hiding anger.
Cheng Wan had a bad premonition; she feared Cheng Han had misunderstood Lin Qingya.
"Not yet," she said.
Cheng Han did not speak.
Cheng Wan hesitated for a moment, but still asked, "Brother, you were there at the time. I want to ask you, did Lin Qingya fall into the water because she was pushed by Qin Yunshu, or did she roll into the river on purpose after she fell?"
Although Cheng Han had already been injured at the time, perhaps he hadn't noticed at all.
Yet Cheng Wan couldn't help but want to ask.
Qin Yunshu clenched her fingers, feeling exceptionally uneasy inside.
Cheng Han might not necessarily stand on her side.
There was a half-minute of silence in the room.
Finally, Cheng Han said in a deep voice, "She rolled down herself; it has nothing to do with Yun Shu."
Qin Yunshu was incredulous for a moment and looked sharply at Cheng Han.
Cheng Wan, meanwhile, pressed her lips together tightly.
"She fell down herself, but Qin Yunshu also intentionally harmed her..."
"Wan Wan, let this matter end here." Cheng Han's attitude was firm.
He looked at Cheng Wan, making his stance crystal clear.
"Qingya only did that because of me; she didn't mean to," Cheng Wan explained anxiously.
After all, if Cheng Han saw that Lin Qingya had rolled into the river on her own, then Qin Yunshu would be completely absolved of guilt.
Was Cheng Han going to protect Qin Yunshu as well?
Because of that knife wound from Lin Qingya?
She had attempted murder.
"I already said, I did push her, but I didn't use much force; it wouldn't have been enough to push her into the river," Qin Yunshu said, feeling very aggrieved.
Cheng Han's trust was a reassurance to her.
She felt at ease.
"Brother, can you please think carefully..." Cheng Wan persisted.
"Cheng Wan, your brother has suffered such a serious injury and just woke up," Qin Yunshu stood up and said very rudely, "Do you have to force him to answer questions about Lin Qingya right now? As a younger sister, you are truly cold-blooded."
"Besides, Lin Qingya stabbed your brother and almost killed him, yet you are here speaking up for her. Do you have any conscience at all?"
Cheng Wan fell silent.
She knew she shouldn't have asked now, but she was anxious.
Qin Yunshu had clearly committed attempted murder, yet she was innocent.
And Lin Qingya, regardless of whether she lived or died, would have to bear the charge of attempted murder.
"Sorry." Cheng Wan ultimately chose to take a step back.
Cheng Han's energy was low, "I want to sleep for a while; you all should leave."
Cheng Wan left the ward in silence.
Qin Yunshu opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but seeing Cheng Han's face so pale and cold, she ultimately said nothing and left the ward.
The air grew quiet.
Cheng Han stared at the ceiling with a blank expression, yet there was a fierce, baleful aura in the corners of his eyes.
Lin Qingya... do you really hate me so much that you want me dead?
