Chapter 98: Qin Yun Shu, what kind of sister is she?
Before entering the operating room, Cheng Wan signed the surgical consent and informed consent forms herself.
The elevator doors slowly closed.
But at the very last second, a slender hand reached in the moment the elevator doors were about to shut.
The nearly closed elevator doors opened once again.
Chu Li pressed the elevator pause button with an expressionless face.
He looked down at Cheng Wan, his eyes filled with unfathomable emotions.
Cheng Wan's fingers were ice-cold.
Chu Li had come after all.
She lowered her eyes, unwilling to speak.
In the end, she was wheeled back to her ward by a nurse.
Chu Li and the doctor were in the ward talking about her pregnancy.
Cheng Wan didn't pay attention to a single word; she looked at the sun outside the window, quiet and still.
The voices behind her stopped at some point.
Chu Li stepped forward, bending down to pick her up.
Cheng Wan didn't move, her gaze falling on his cold, stern profile as his hand passed under her knees.
She spoke softly: "Chu Li, do you regret acknowledging a younger sister so early back then?"
"Otherwise, you two could be husband and wife right now."
"Come to think of it, you two only had a verbal agreement back then; Qin Yun Shu never entered your Chu Family's household register, so she doesn't count as a sister, and marriage wouldn't be impossible."
Chu Li stopped his movements, stood up straight, and his cold, sharp eyes held no emotion.
"Wanwan, Yun Shu is her sister, and she is a Perfumer; it is more appropriate than anyone else for her to become the owner of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms Perfume."
His voice was calm and indifferent.
It was as if the identity of the woman before him had never changed.
Cheng Wan looked up at the handsome man before her and suddenly smiled faintly, "Qin Yun Shu, what kind of sister is she? All these years, has she ever held a place for this sister in her heart?"
"Has she ever once thought about bringing this sister home?"
"Now that the person is dead, she knows how to come and associate herself with it."
"Qin Xingwan's parents are her parents, not hers," Chu Li said indifferently, "You cannot blame her for that."
Yet in Cheng Wan's view, what difference did it make?
She returned to the Qin Family under the identity of Qin Xingwan, and Qin Yun Shu had never shown her any respect.
She even went to great lengths to vie for the attention of Qin Jianguo and his wife, distracting that meager bit of familial affection.
Now, the Twenty-Four Solar Terms Perfume had instead become something Qin Yun Shu deserved.
"Are human blood buns delicious?" Cheng Wan asked with a tragic smile.
It was extremely ironic.
Chu Li bent down and picked her up, "Rest more now that you have a child; you don't need to worry about those things."
A child?
Cheng Wan's lips curled into a cold, thin line, "Chu Li, you know my identity now, don't you? Do you think there is any need for this child to be kept?"
The Chu Family looked down on even Qin Xingwan, so how could they accept a woman from an orphanage as the mistress of the Chu Family?
Moreover, she had no desire to be this mistress of the Chu Family.
"That is not for you to worry about," Chu Li's attitude was neither warm nor cold, "For the sake of Wen Ping'an, you had best be obedient during this time, otherwise, if I am unwilling, Wen Ping'an can only wait to die."
Cheng Wan closed her eyes; she knew it would be like this.
Once Chu Li knew, she would never be able to do anything about this child again.
The sorrow in her heart grew heavier by a third.
"When do you plan to go and extract the bone marrow fluid?" Cheng Wan asked coldly.
Between her and Chu Li, only a transaction remained.
She was pregnant, so Chu Li had to fulfill his promise.
Chu Li's hand tightened, his already restless heart struggling to suppress the turmoil, "Are you in such a hurry?"
He still remembered that she liked Wen Lvzhong.
Cheng Wan's expression was dull, "Of course, President Chu is so busy, who knows if one day you might suddenly be unable to donate again."
Chu Li didn't speak, but his tightly pressed lips revealed his displeasure.
Cheng Wan was settled into the ward where Qin Nainai had once stayed.
Tang Yisheng came personally to examine Cheng Wan and was very pleasantly surprised after confirming she was pregnant.
"Mrs. Chu is truly blessed."
Rumors were rampant outside, yet President Chu still doted on his wife as always.
Cheng Wan didn't speak; she kept her head lowered, showing no expression.
Chu Li had arranged everything perfectly, even providing two nannies to serve her specifically.
After staying in the Yiyuan for a week, Cheng Wan returned to Beicheng Villa to recuperate.
Until the caregiver for Qin Nainai called, "The old lady was angered into a faint, sent to the Yiyuan, and taken into the emergency room."
The soup bowl in Cheng Wan's hand shattered into pieces on the floor.
She rushed to the Yiyuan, and the light above the emergency room was still on.
Lady Qin and Qin Yun Shu stood together holding hands, both of their faces looking terrible.
Cheng Wan looked at the caregiver standing to the side, her coldness piercing, "Tell me, what happened?"
The caregiver wiped away tears and pointed angrily at Lady Qin and Qin Yun Shu: "It was them who angered the old lady until she fainted."
Lady Qin's expression changed slightly: "You are spouting nonsense; she clearly fainted because of her old age."
The caregiver and Qin Nainai had long since developed a bond, and she felt heartache for the old woman.
"I heard with my own ears that they were in the old lady's room talking about your imprisonment, forcing the old lady to go to the reporters to expose you, saying you are a murderer; when the old lady refused to go, they said they would make sure you stayed in prison forever."
Cheng Wan understood.
Lady Qin and Qin Yun Shu had forced Grandma to frame her, and when Grandma refused, they threatened and provoked Grandma, causing her to faint.
She looked at the heartless mother and daughter, her entire body filled with rage.
"You actually provoked her like that?"
She lifted her foot and walked toward them step by step, her eyes full of malice.
Qin Yun Shu gritted her teeth and sneered: "Cheng Wan, that is my grandmother, not yours."
Cheng Wan slapped her across the face.
"Qin Yun Shu, you still know that is your grandmother? Is this how you provoke her? The doctor said she could not be provoked again; did you not know that?"
"If there are matters between us, come at me; why go bully an old, weak, and sick person? You really are Qin Jianguo's good daughter, just as selfish and self-interested."
Qin Yun Shu was scolded so thoroughly she could not talk back.
"Cheng Wan, that is enough; this is a matter for our Qin Family, and it has nothing to do with an impostor like you." Lady Qin shielded Qin Yun Shu behind her, maintaining a high and mighty air.
Cheng Wan did not hold back and raised her hand to slap her as well.
Lady Qin was stunned, covering her cheek in disbelief: "You dare hit me?"
This slap was one Cheng Wan had wanted to deliver a long time ago, but back then, she was using the name Qin Xingwan.
She could not take action; she could not let Qin Xingwan bear the charge of being unfilial.
But now, she was Cheng Wan, and she had absolutely no connection to the Qin Family.
This slap had finally landed on Lady Qin's face.
"I hit you, so what?" Cheng Wan could not calm down even a little.
The light of the emergency room went out.
Cheng Wan turned her head sharply to look at the door.
The doctor walked out, took off his mask, and said softly: "My condolences."
Cheng Wan's body swayed, and her back hit the wall.
She murmured "Grandma," unable to believe it.
How could Grandma... how could this be...
The doctor sighed and reminded her: "Go in and see the old lady for the last time."
Cheng Wan stumbled as she ran inside, until she saw that patch of white cloth.
Her body went limp and she knelt on the ground.
She knelt and crawled over, gripping that ice-cold hand tightly, her sorrowful wails heart-wrenching.
"Grandma."
