Chapter 1708: My Wife Looks Good in Anything She Wears

~4 min read 642 words

Fu Yan Cheng returned from his mission with three days of leave.

Besides exerting his strength on Liu Chuxue at night, he spent his mornings, noons, and evenings shuttling her to and from her destinations.

Fearing that his long absence would make others covet his wife, he was making a full-scale declaration of ownership; Liu Chuxue's protests were useless, so wherever there were people, he took Liu Chuxue there.

Liu Chuxue could only go along with him.

Seeing the weather turn cold, this fellow somehow managed to get hold of foreign exchange certificates and bought Liu Chuxue a blue mid-length down jacket at the Friendship Store: "Look, does your wife like it?"

Liu Chuxue had fair skin and a great figure; whatever color she wore gave her a unique temperament that no one else could match, leaving Fu Yan Cheng staring in a daze.

Liu Chuxue pushed him: "Does it look good?"

Fu Yan Cheng said sincerely: "My wife looks good in anything; this jacket really suits you."

But that night exhausted her so much she almost arrived late the next day, making the down jacket instantly unappealing.

She rushed into the classroom wearing the down jacket just as the bell rang.

Seeing her enter, Zhang Yanyan raised her hand to signal her: "Over here."

She immediately bent down and squeezed past.

Once she sat down, Zhang Yanyan exclaimed: "Did you buy this jacket at the Friendship Mall?"

While taking out her books, Liu Chuxue replied softly: "Mm."

Zhang Yanyan said with envy: "It's different when someone supports you; you're really willing to spend."

Liu Chuxue turned and gave her a dirty look: "I didn't buy this; my husband brought it back for me. If you're envious, hurry up and get married yourself."

Just as Zhang Yanyan was preparing to retort, the professor walked in.

Perhaps having spotted their heads huddled together, as soon as class began, he called on Zhang Yanyan.

Zhang Yanyan answered haltingly, and only with Liu Chuxue's hints did she manage to respond; once seated, she panted heavily: "Sister, thank you so much; without you, I would have lost face."

But the professor turned around and saw their little trick again.

The professor pointed directly at Liu Chuxue: "Come, you answer my question."

He initially asked about content from previous classes, but Liu Chuxue answered fluently; the professor, refusing to believe it, deliberately chose tricky questions to ask, yet still failed to stump her.

After this incident, Professor Gong began paying attention to Liu Chuxue.

What surprised him even more was that during the school's final exams, Liu Chuxue scored full marks in everything; now, not only Professor Gong but teachers of other subjects also began monitoring Liu Chuxue's performance.

Since they moved, they were no longer as close to the Fu family as before.

Fu's mother visited less frequently than before, but with a married couple added to watch the children, the grandparents felt much more at ease.

When Fu's mother first met Song Sanrui and Gu Xiaomi, she was somewhat displeased, since having them there meant she had to pay them wages.

Now that her daughter-in-law was studying and only her son earned money, yet they had to support three children, she feared her son would take on dangerous missions just to earn more.

When she privately mentioned this to Fu Yan Cheng, he suddenly laughed: "Mom, don't worry about this; your daughter-in-law earns more than your son's salary just by translating a book casually; this family isn't supported by your son me, but by my wife."

His words left Fu's mother looking embarrassed, and she couldn't help but say: "You're showing off now."

Fu Yan Cheng put his arm around Fu's mother's shoulders and leaned close to her ear: "Mom, my wife is amazing, so of course I'm proud; can't I show off a little?"
