Chapter 1709: Saving a Life

After the exams, everyone had already begun packing up to go home.

On this day, Liu Chuxue had just come out of the school dormitory, preparing to take Zhang Yanyan to the station, when she heard heart-wrenching wailing from downstairs.

The two exchanged a glance and hurried downstairs.

They saw a female classmate holding a child, wailing in tears; the two approached and asked the person in front, "What's wrong?"

The person in front didn't even turn his head back, staring straight ahead: "The child choked on candy and has stopped breathing."

Hearing this, Liu Chuxue didn't even care about Zhang Yanyan's things anymore; that child looked only slightly older than Fu Bao and the others.

At that moment, someone shouted, "Then what are you hesitating for? Hurry and take him to the infirmary!"

But the mother's body was so weak she couldn't even stand, holding the child who had already gone limp, crying only, as if she had been scared senseless.

Liu Chuxue thought to herself, shouldn't a mother be strong for her child? What use is crying at a time like this?

She shouted loudly, "Everyone, make way!"

The crowd surrounding them thought the leaders had arrived and made a path.

Liu Chuxue squeezed in without difficulty: "Come, let me check the child."

She didn't know medicine, but in her past life she had learned first aid and had even used the Heimlich maneuver to save someone before.

Hearing Liu Chuxue's words, that female classmate took it as salvation: "Save him, I beg you, otherwise I won't be able to explain to his mother."

Liu Chuxue said loudly, "Don't panic, I can only try; first, loosen your hold on the child."

As she took the child, she quickly felt for the carotid artery; seeing it still beating, she instantly gained confidence.

She immediately began the Heimlich maneuver, and after more than ten thrusts, the fruit candy in the child's throat was squeezed out.

Everyone let out a gasp of surprise.

Liu Chuxue saw the child still had no reaction, so she immediately laid the child down and began CPR.

Time ticked by second by second; in the bitter cold, Liu Chuxue's forehead was covered in sweat.

It wasn't sweat from exertion, but from anxiety.

She feared that if she was even a second slow, she wouldn't be able to save this little life.

At that moment, everyone watching in the corridor held their breath, afraid of interfering with the rescue.

Finally, just as she was about to collapse from exhaustion, the child showed signs of life, and the corridor instantly filled with cheers.

After a while, the child let out a "Waaah!" and began to cry.

At this point, Liu Chuxue was panting heavily; if Zhang Yan hadn't gone to support her, she would have collapsed to the ground.

The girl from before picked up the child and immediately knelt before Liu Chuxue: "Thank you so much, thank you so much; if anything had happened to this child, I would be guilty of a crime punishable by death."

Having said that, she burst into tears.

Only then did Liu Chuxue learn from other classmates that this child was not the girl's own child; she had been entrusted by a classmate to look after him temporarily.

She hadn't expected that a momentary kindness of feeding him a candy would almost have caused a great disaster.

Liu Chuxue quickly helped the female classmate up: "Please don't do this, don't scare the child; it's enough that the child is fine. We still need to catch our train, so we'll take our leave now."

The female classmate wanted to grab Liu Chuxue to ask her name, but Liu Chuxue had already squeezed out of the crowd with Zhang Yanyan.

Someone recognized them: "Those two female classmates are from the Law Department, but I don't know their names."

Praise from everyone came from behind; since life and death were at stake, this time there were no discordant voices heard.

Zhang Yanyan looked at Liu Chuxue with admiration: "Liu Chuxue, you are truly amazing; that child was almost out of breath, yet you managed to save him."
