Chapter 189: Bitten to Tears by Ah Ling

~7 min read 1,261 words

Fine, Zhou Qiyue couldn't say anything either.

One wants to hit, the other wants to endure—it's all Wen Ling happily coaxing herself.

She dragged her sister into the bar, walked a few steps, and Zhou Zhaoning turned to call Zhao Ningyan, who was still standing beside them watching the spectacle, even stepping closer.

"What are you doing? Keep up—you've gotten addicted to watching the show."

At her shout, Zhou Yinhe reacted, glaring at Zhao Ningyan, who rubbed his nose and turned to follow the Zhou sisters away first.

Wen Ling saw the bar's patrons staring at them, so she took Zhou Yinhe's hand and stepped aside a bit.

"Don't cry, I shouldn't have bitten you like that." Wen Ling tiptoed, cupped Zhou Yinhe's face, and whispered, "I won't bully you like that next time."

Zhou Yinhe's eyes were slightly red, he looked at Wen Ling with a sense of grievance, and asked seriously, "Are you sure?"

Wen Ling heard that, felt there was hope, and quickly nodded.

Zhou Yinhe then seized the chance and started pushing for more.

"If I bully you in the future, you can't get angry or hold it against me, nor can you find other excuses to bully me."

"???"

Wen Ling wore a puzzled expression, then after reacting, she narrowed her eyes at Zhou Yinhe, caught a flicker of smile in his eyes, and laughed despite herself.

"You did that on purpose, didn't you?" said in an affirmative and certain tone.

Zhou Yinhe stepped back, putting himself out of Wen Ling's reach, and said softly, "I didn't, it really hurts."

Wen Ling reached out, "Let me see."

Zhou Yinhe hesitated, then placed his hand in hers; the next second, Wen Ling brought his hand back to her lips, making a motion to bite him again.

Zhou Yinhe gasped; Wen Ling kept the motion, lifted her gaze to him, saw he was genuinely a bit afraid, then snorted a laugh, shook off his hand, and headed back to the bar ahead of him.

Zhou Zhaoning and her two companions entered the private room, and Jiang Jibai asked, "Everyone's here—why aren't Xiao Wu and Wen Ling here yet?"

"..." Zhao Ningyan held back laughter and said, "He's crying—Wen Ling bit him until he cried. The two are out there sulking."

"Huh?" The few people originally in the private room jumped up, intending to go to the door to watch the fun, but just as they reached the hallway heading downstairs, they ran into Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe.

"What are you doing?" Zhou Yinhe frowned, not understanding.

Ke Chengyu asked with ill intent, "I heard you were crying—wanted to come comfort you."

Zhou Yinhe snapped, "Who said that? I didn't cry!"

Qi Zhan raised his chin, gesturing toward the private room; Zhou Yinhe instantly understood, and Jiang Jibai said directly, "Your brother-in-law, huh."

"What brother-in-law? I don't acknowledge him, so he's not my brother-in-law." Zhou Yinhe smiled faintly, the smile thin, more sarcastic than anything.

Seeing Zhou Yinhe's expression, they didn't dare tease him and quietly returned to the private room together.

Zhou Yinhe entered and headed straight for Zhao Ningyan, who was lounging on the sofa, looking at him with a welcoming air—but before Zhou Yinhe could get close, Zhou Zhaoning stepped in and blocked him.

"What are you doing?"

"Settle the score."

"What score?" Zhou Zhaoning raised an eyebrow, "You're crying but won't let your brother-in-law speak?"

Zhou Yinhe looked at her in disbelief—Zhou Zhaoning had never before acknowledged Zhao Ningyan as her boyfriend.

Zhou Zhaoning curled her lips, "What, not allowed? I'm ready to give him a title. You used to domineer and unreasonably bully them—that's fine—but from now on you're not allowed to bully your brother-in-law."

Zhou Yinhe felt awful, turned decisively and left to seek comfort from Wen Ling.

Lovers' petty squabbles were just a fleeting grievance to him, but his older sister's 'betrayal' felt especially serious.

Wen Ling had still been talking with them; seeing him return, she blinked and asked, "What's going on?"

Zhou Yinhe opened his mouth, but not wanting them to know, he just shook his head, sat beside Wen Ling, leaned against her, and sighed continuously.

Wen Ling reached up and touched his face, without pressing further.

Zhou Yinhe was in a bad mood; the two of them drank only what Wen Ling had, and by the time they left, she was so fuzzy she could barely make out anyone.

Zhou Yinhe half-embraced her and told the others, "We're leaving now; these two days we'll accompany Wen Lao and Qin Lao to Guishan to keep an eye on Sijiucheng and also check on Lu Zhaoye's side."

Jiang Jibai raised his hand, signaling him to relax.

Originally Zhou Yinhe could half-hold Wen Ling and walk a few steps, but who knew she wouldn't lift her feet at all, so he had to bend and pick her up.

The driver was already waiting at the door; seeing them come out, he hurriedly opened the car door.

After getting in the car, Wen Ling sobered up; she reached to grab Zhou Yinhe's earlobe, but being drunk she couldn't catch it—his figure appeared multiple times before her eyes, and his earlobe was blurred as well.

She complained tearfully, "Why are you avoiding me? I just want to pinch your earlobe."

Hearing that, the driver hastily raised the partition.

Zhou Yinhe took Wen Ling's hand and placed it by his ear, letting her pinch his earlobe; seeing her happy laugh, he helplessly patted her back, like soothing a child.

"Happy now?"

Wen Ling gave a clear "yes," happy and delighted.

Zhou Yinhe held her, letting her poke and prod here and there, which stirred up his fire, but she ended up falling asleep.

Carrying his pent-up fire home, Zhou Yinhe brought Wen Ling back to her room, gave her a quick wash and changed her into pajamas, laid her on the bed, and he himself was exhausted to the point of panting.

Drunk people are just a handful—just now Wen Ling first wanted to play with bubbles, then with water; when the bubbles popped she was unhappy, if the water wasn't fast enough she was unhappy, if it was too fast she was unhappy, and Zhou Yinhe even suspected she was deliberately getting back at him for his earlier pushiness.

He couldn't take it anymore; watching Wen Ling sleep deeply, he finally went back to the bathroom to wash up.

After washing, Zhou Yinhe hadn't even dried off when the bathroom door was repeatedly pounded, accompanied by shouts of "Zhou Yinhe! Zhou Yinhe!"

Zhou Yinhe, helpless, opened the bathroom door and stepped out without bothering with anything else; Wen Ling, eyes half-closed, lunged straight into his arms, and her silk pajamas were instantly dampened by the water droplets still on him.

She didn't mind, didn't find it unpleasant, bounced up and clung to Zhou Yinhe, whining, "Why won't you coax me to sleep?"

"I'm taking a shower; I smell of alcohol, afraid to get you dirty." Zhou Yinhe rubbed her back and whispered, "Can you wait a moment? I'll change into sleepwear and then come soothe you to sleep."

Wen Ling shook her head, "I'm staying with you."

No choice—Zhou Yinhe had to hold her while changing clothes, and also replace the pajamas that had gotten wet from the water.

After all that, it was already past midnight; Zhou Yinhe lay limp, eyes fixed on the ceiling, the corners already reddened.

And the culprit, Wen Ling's hand, is messing around on his body.
