Chapter 250: Grand Finale (Part 2)

~11 min read 2,040 words

The wedding in Hua Guo and M Country having concluded, Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe first stayed in Hua Guo for a few days before beginning their honeymoon trip.

The final stop was Ni Island.

They kissed at sunset under the evening glow, and at dawn they immersed themselves in beautiful dreams.

Zhou Yinhe felt such times were supremely happy, so they ultimately decided to stay here for a while.

Such days were perfect for the two of them, both a bit lazy, disliking early rising and even more disliking early sleep, aside from being able to watch the sunset, seeing the sunrise unless they stayed up all night.

After staying a week, Wen Ling began to feel restless.

At two in the morning, she lay quietly in bed while Zhou Yinhe beside her was engrossed in a game, unaware of her mood.

"I want to go home, I want Mom and Dad, I want Grandpa and Grandma, and I also want Hehe and Heng Heng..."

Zhou Yinhe let out an ah, glanced sideways and saw she was about to cry, quickly put down his phone and hugged her.

"What's wrong? Not happy anymore?" he cooed softly: "Don't you like it here? Or do you want to change places?"

Wen Ling pouted aggrievedly, rubbed into his embrace, and cried, "I just want to go home."

What's the big deal? Zhou Yinhe grabbed his phone, booked tickets, and then showed Wen Ling the successful booking screen.

"Look, I've bought them, or if you're not in a rush, I can have our dad bring over the private plane?"

Wen Ling, eyes blurred with tears, stared at him and shook her head: "I'm in a hurry."

"Then tomorrow, we'll leave as soon as we wake up, okay? Don't cry." Zhou Yinhe heartbrokenly wiped her tears; Wen Ling was probably premenstrual, her emotions easily frayed, and after a long coaxing he finally soothed her.

Going back is also fine; during her period it's more comfortable to rest at home.

The next day they took a flight directly back to Hua Guo.

They first returned to M Country to see Wen Lao, but learned Wen Lao had actually gone to Hua Guo to find Qin Lao, so they had a meal with Wen Zhuo and then hurried back to Hua Guo nonstop.

They first went to the Qin family to see Wen Lao and Qin Lao, had a meal with relatives including uncle and aunt Qin Yuchen of the Qin family, stayed two days at the Qin household, then returned to Feng Qi Yuan.

Ning Qing took Wen Ling's hand, carefully examined her complexion, noticing some darkness under her eyes, and said sympathetically, "Is it because you've been rushing to catch flights these days that you have dark circles?"

Wen Ling was startled, grabbed a mirror from nearby to check her dark circles; thankfully, they weren't severe, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhou Yinhe lazily lounged on the sofa arm, sighing, "Mom, we're going back to our room to catch up on sleep; we won't eat now, we'll eat after we wake up."

Wen Ling also yawned and softly said, "Mom, we're heading upstairs first."

Ning Qing hurriedly said, "Go quickly, go quickly."

Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe fell asleep and slept straight through to the next morning; their schedule needed no adjustment, and after staying up several nights they directly returned to a normal routine.

During the day others were not free, but in the evening the Zhou family gathered at Feng Qi Yuan for a meal together.

At the dinner table, Ning Qing and Shang Yuyu brought up the topic of preparing for pregnancy; Wen Ling listened awhile and found it quite interesting.

Zhou Yinhe lowered his eyes to peel seafood for her, doing it very seriously, basically paying no attention to what the elder sister-in-law and mother said.

Wen Ling kept eating, picking up sauce-coated shrimp with her chopsticks and stuffing them into her mouth; just as she put them in, before she could swallow, her stomach clenched violently, she couldn't care about anything else, covered her mouth and rushed to the restroom.

Zhou Yinhe was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly chased after her together with Ning Qing.

"Honey, what's wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable?" Seeing Wen Ling retching in distress, Zhou Yinhe also felt awful, wishing he could vomit for her.

Ning Qing stood at the restroom doorway, feeling doubtful, frowned slightly, and hurried back to the dining room.

She saw the people at the table looking worried, didn't say much more, just leaned over to Shang Yuyu's ear and whispered something; Shang Yuyu's eyes widened in surprise, he stood up and went upstairs, and shortly thereafter came downstairs carrying something.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law gathered at the restroom doorway, saw Wen Ling washing her face, exchanged a glance, Ning Qing took the item from Shang Yuyu's hand, poked Zhou Yinhe, and handed him the item.

Zhou Yinhe was still worried when he was inexplicably handed a few medicine‑like boxes; he glanced down, saw the writing on them, and became even more bewildered.

Seeing him still dazed, Ning Qing jabbed his forehead with a resentful‑iron‑not‑steel motion, snatched the items from his hand, pushed him aside, went to Wen Ling's side, and softly said, "Ah Ling, why don't you give it a try?"

Wen Ling was also dazed, but muttered, "Impossible..."

They hadn't used protection except that wedding night, otherwise they always did… just once??? But they hadn't been preparing for pregnancy, still stayed up late every night, and had also drunk alcohol—could it be—

Now wasn't the time to think about that; Ning Qing and Shang Yuyu first walked out, Zhou Yinhe still stood rooted like a log, Wen Ling bit her lip and shyly pushed him out.

The three stood at the doorway, Zhou Yinhe still couldn't collect his thoughts, somewhat unable to comprehend, until Wen Ling emerged.

Her cheeks were flushed; however you looked, it was exactly what Ning Qing had anticipated.

Indeed, Wen Ling reached out her hand; in her palm lay several pregnancy test sticks, all showing red lines, though one was comparatively faint.

Ning Qing exclaimed happily, but her excitement hadn't yet fully surged when she recalled the usual routines of these two children.

"Have you been staying up late during this period? Have you drunk alcohol? And you've been running around for several days straight." Ning Qing said, growing more insistent, and urged, "Go, have the driver wait; let's go to the hospital for a check‑up."

Wen Ling nodded, but Zhou Yinhe stared blankly at her until she poked him with her arm, bringing him back to his senses.

Ning Qing had already run off to announce the good news to Zhou Shuanglin and the others; Shang Yuyu also beamed, his inner pressure considerably eased.

After an examination confirming no issues, they still needed a follow‑up; the Zhou family breathed easier, likely because she had been well‑raised since childhood, so her constitution was decent; although she had been somewhat frail in earlier years, she had long since been nursed back to health.

Ning Qing pulled Zhou Yinhe's ear, giving him many instructions; he obediently complied, far more obedient than before.

Afterwards Ning Qing chatted with Zhou Shuanglin, adding, "Now that Xiao Wu has become a father, he's become much more sensible."

Zhou Shuanglin replied lightly, "Since they're already fathers, being any less sensible would truly be excessive."

For now, because the later test results were uncertain, there was no fuss; merely the Feng Qi Yuan household went on alert, treating Wen Ling like a national treasure to be cared for.

Three months later, the test results came back clear, confirming everything was fine, and only then did they inform the Wen and Qin families.

In the later stages of pregnancy, Wen Ling always felt the house too stifling and insisted Zhou Yinhe take her to the place where he had proposed; fortunately it was already spring, with pleasant weather.

The Zhou household was on edge, especially Ning Qing, who simply came along as well.

Arriving at the seaside, Zhou Yinhe carefully supported her, but Wen Ling complained again and again: "Wife, don't make such big movements, be careful not to hurt yourself."

Wen Ling gave him a white‑eye look: "Don't bother me, I'm about to die of boredom."

Zhou Yinhe could only extend his hand to shield her side, preventing her from falling.

Walking along the beach, Wen Ling blinked, gazing at the proposal‑time table, as if returning to that scene.

Back then she could do whatever she wanted, but now everything is hampered by the little one in her belly, making anything she wishes to do impossible.

"When will I be able to unload this cargo?" Wen Ling sighed.

Zhou Yinhe said softly: "Almost, almost, wife, don't be anxious."

Wen Ling sighed, rubbed her protruding belly, and gazed at the endless coastline, sighing.

Zhou Yinhe, standing at her side, bent over and rubbed Wen Ling's belly as well, knelt on one knee beside her, lifted his gaze and said seriously: "Thank you."

Wen Ling, bewildered, lowered her gaze and asked: "Thank me for what?"

Thank her for bearing my child, she changed all her former hobbies and routine, going to bed early and rising early each day.

Thank her for, for his sake, willingly bearing in her belly such a child that causes her discomfort.

Thank her for all she has, most importantly, thank her for being willing to love him.

Listening to Zhou Yinhe speak, Wen Ling blinked and smiled lightly.

"Don't be polite; from now on just let me beat you up one more time and that'll be fine."

"Okay, I'll let you hit me for a lifetime."

Later, their daughter was born, a being like a chaotic great demon king, combining all the personality flaws of Zhou Yinhe and Wen Ling, and moreover doted on by Ning Qing and Zhou Shuanglin, with Wen Lao and Qin Lao even more so, causing her to become increasingly excessive.

When she attended kindergarten, Zhou Yu'an could be said to be invincible under heaven; upon entering primary school she became somewhat obedient, yet not truly obedient anywhere, and later when she had a younger brother, her temperament and personality were the opposite of his, making her even more so.

However, although she is clueless, she has remembered one thing since childhood: never let Mom get angry or worried.

Later, when she grew up and toured the world like a little aunt, at every concert she would perform that song written for Mom, and speak in the authentic local language, saying:

"Thank my mother for giving me life; my father told me that mother is the greatest person in the world, for my sake she could change the habits she had kept for many years, and in giving birth to me she sacrificed her life to give me life."

I also know that my love for Mother can never surpass that for Father.

All the principles Father taught me and my younger brother from childhood are centered on Mother.

I have seen them kiss at dusk and confess their love to each other upon waking in the morning.

This next song is dedicated to the mother I love most; of course, this is not me being biased.

Because I know that loving Mother more will make Father happier.

As the performance began, Zhou Yinhe and Wen Ling sat in the front row, gazing at their daughter's face resembling Zhou Yinhe's, and Wen Ling clung to Zhou Yinhe beside her.

Zhou Yinhe felt gratified, gratified that their daughter forever remembers loving her mother most.

Wen Ling still looked as beautiful and delicate as before, only her age had gradually increased, yet she was much shyer than in her youth; she whispered to Zhou Yinhe's ear: "It's all your fault, now everyone knows."

Zhou Yinhe lowered his head, kissing her cheek and ear as before, and said softly: "I have always wanted to let the whole world know I love you; our daughter has done that for me."

Wen Ling bit her lip, leaned against Zhou Yinhe's ear, and whispered:

"Me too, always, always."
