Chapter 64
"Ah—"
The scream echoed through the canyon.
Many males had their arms and legs torn off by the alien beasts. Smelling the blood, the beasts became even more frenzied, swarming like piranhas and tearing at the beastmen with their sharp teeth. Yet, the beastmen strictly followed orders; even as they were bitten to death or maimed, not a single one released their mental power.
The youth clenched his fists, his eyes bloodshot as he watched the scene, his entire face twisted with rage.
"Young Master, please, do not use your mental power! Run! Don't let the brothers die in vain!"
The middle-aged man covered his retreat. Seeing the youth still hesitating and refusing to leave, he closed his eyes and fired his gun at an alien beast in a desperate act.
The gunshot echoed long and hard through the canyon, layer upon layer of sound waves.
Hearing the noise, the alien beasts all surged toward the man. He stood his ground, and to the youth watching in agony nearby, he mouthed a silent word: "Run." Then, he was swallowed by the swarm of beasts and torn apart, his cheeks ripped away.
"Uncle Xiwuoen—"
The youth suffered a complete breakdown. He roared with red eyes, and in the next second, he transformed into a murderous wolf.
He opened his blood-stained maw to fight the swarm, and at the same time, the mental power he released formed a giant, invisible wave that sent several alien beasts flying.
Ka'er was also hit by the mental shockwave. He frowned in discomfort, spat out the blade of grass in his mouth, and wiped the sweat from his forehead, yet he smirked.
"Found you. So it was you."
As this mental power spread, Ka'er finally understood why these people would rather die than release their mental power. Almost the second the youth transformed and released his power, his earpiece received a command—
"Sky Eye has locked on. Target's physical data acquired: Anubis Kang Na. Mental Power: SSS-Grade. Talent: Darkest Hunt. Identity: The only pure-blooded descendant of Rebel Army leader Dante Kang Na."
Ka'er didn't have time to ponder what the 'Darkest Hunt' talent actually was. He only saw the dim night suddenly become even thicker, the surroundings crumbling strangely like molten metal, similar to lava flowing from a volcanic eruption. Ka'er's vision plunged into total darkness. He stood up abruptly, ignoring the risk of exposure, and raised his gun to aim at his surroundings. The few seconds that passed felt like hours; he was trapped in an environment where he could neither see nor hear, and fear took root in his heart.
Never... he had never felt this way before...
Suddenly, the surroundings returned to the original night. It was the same darkness, but compared to before, it seemed much brighter. Ka'er breathed a sigh of relief, only to freeze the next moment.
The youth stood alone, head bowed, not far away. His mouth and the lower half of his face were covered in blood. Around him lay only the shredded corpses of alien beasts—about fifty of them in total—along with the beastmen who had been bitten to death.
Ka'er looked at the scene in shock. When he came to his senses, a black shadow flashed before his eyes; the youth's fingers had turned into sharp claws and were attacking him.
Anubis was so fast that Ka'er couldn't see him clearly. Ka'er was no match for him at all, and after a brief exchange, he suffered varying degrees of injury to several vital points.
"Damn it!"
So this was the 'Darkest Hunt'. With such terrifying combat power, could the Scavengers really kill him?
Anubis had been exposed, and Ka'er's mission was effectively complete. Just as Anubis was about to deliver a fatal blow, Ka'er used his talent to jump from one space to another, which led to the scene where the trio found him on Lang'ai Star.
Ka'er woke up with a start. He gasped for air, but felt as if no oxygen was entering his lungs. At the moment of near-suffocation, he used his talent again. This time, instead of a random spatial jump, the image that suddenly popped into his mind wasn't the Federation or his dormitory at Yatelandisi Academy, but the warm, tiny room in the two-story building.
In an instant, the man lying on the ground 'whooshed' and disappeared, appearing on the floor of the room the next second. He tore off the mask of his protective suit, gasping for air like a fish thrown onto the shore. If not for this protective suit, he might have died on that planet.
Having recovered, Ka'er began to survey his surroundings, noticing items in his room that didn't belong to him. Ka'er frowned, scanning the room. He didn't see his sports bag, but he couldn't care about such trifles. He took off the protective suit, cut off his clothes with scissors, treated his wounds one by one, and then opened the door.
As he stepped out, five familiar faces stood in the living room, all staring at him in surprise.
"Speak of the devil!" Bobo cried out, pointing at Ka'er and whispering to A Yao: "A Yao! A Yao! Why is he coming out of Yan's room naked? Could it be..." He looked at Ka'er, then at Sang Yan, and hugged himself tightly. "I almost lost my purity!"
A Yao glanced at him and said gloomily: "You're overthinking it. Even if they sent you to Yan's bed, given your looks, you'd be perfectly safe."
Sang Yan ignored the bickering behind him. He and Leian walked toward Ka'er simultaneously, speaking in unison—
"You need to break into a space right now," Leian said.
"Could I ask you for a favor?" Sang Yan asked.
Ka'er picked at his ear and said: "I'd like to put some clothes on first."
Leian tossed him a military uniform and walked over to explain the general situation.
When Ka'er heard the name 'Sui Sui', his hand paused while buttoning his shirt. He acted as if nothing was wrong, clicked the buttons, and 'tsk'ed, looking impatient, but he didn't refuse. Even though his energy and physical strength were severely depleted—and forcing his talent in this state would cause him great harm—he didn't mention a word of it, only asking when she had disappeared.
After understanding the basics, he nodded, having a plan in mind.
"I can only stay in that space for 12 seconds. If I'm not out in 12 seconds, you'd better find another way."
Sang Yan frowned: "What do you mean? You're not confident?"
A Yao and Bobo were also worried. Leian knew the rules of this talent, and his heart sank.
Leian pressed him: "If you don't come out, what does that mean?"
"It means the person inside doesn't want to come out. If only I come out, the space will collapse, and the treasure you're all holding in your hands will be lost forever."
Leian looked at his flippant attitude and said solemnly: "Bring her out. Don't worry about the other one. If you succeed, Ausilan will be your eternal backing. Anything you want, I can give you."
Ka'er raised an eyebrow, whistled, and smiled with deep meaning.
"Anything I want, really?"
