Chapter 199: Information Toxin (Please Request Monthly Tickets!)

~7 min read 1,217 words

As they stared in shock, whoosh! An invisible force instantly snatched all their firearms from their hands, sending them soaring into the air, where the guns simultaneously rotated their barrels to point directly at them.

Lin Xian watched their posture and immediately understood.

He stopped his motorcycle and walked over, flipping his hand—a large bulletproof casing carrying a roaring K23 electric rotary machine gun clanged down right before him. Lin Xian scanned the scene, then slapped the hot bulletproof casing: "You waited through the dangers of night for this long—do you really think you can beat me?"

The gunmen's faces turned pale—they had never seen anyone pull out a heavy Gatling gun out of thin air, or conjure a metal bulletproof casing from flat ground?

"Don't waste words with these traitors."

Kiki descended slowly from the sky, arms crossed, her eyes glowing with luminescence. Her telekinesis had grown increasingly precise; disarming these ordinary firearms was effortless.

The tide of battle flipped instantly!

Duan Min's face turned ashen—her gun had been taken too, and she was clearly panicked.

Ding Qing looked at the scene, his expression darkening: "No wonder you're high-tier psychics. I've seen your tricks before, but I still underestimated you."

He looked at Lin Xian: "You came back, and risked your lives to come here—you must have learned the secret of this night curse. But I don't believe anyone in your convoy will survive leaving Rain Town after angering that thing."

Lin Xian's heart stirred—he knew it. Ding Qing wasn't just a clownfish serving the giant parasite; he also knew about the 【Mark】.

"What? Curse?" Kiki frowned. "So you knew all along and hid here to trap others? I'll make you—"

Boom!

Just as Kiki prepared to act, Lin Xian noticed Ding Qing's eyes sharpen. A strange, faint sound echoed from behind the chemical plant. Instantly, everyone felt the ground tremble—a pale orange mist radiated from the No. 1 Initiator Workshop, engulfing the entire facility.

Immediately, all the gunmen around Ding Qing turned pale, collapsed in agony, and fainted—even Duan Min swayed and slumped to the ground.

On Lin Xian's side, he realized Ding Qing's expression too late—the mist swept over him, and his entire body lost over half its muscular strength. The floating guns clattered to the ground. Kiki collapsed against Lin Xian's chest, her face ashen: "Lin… Xian, what's happening? My psychic power… it's gone."

Lin Xian himself felt his central nervous system begin to numb. He looked toward Ding Qing and saw that only Ding Qing still stood—but his face was also deathly pale.

Squeak~.

A source-powered exoskeleton suit emitted a burst of auxiliary motor noise, forcing Ding Qing to lift a vial of unknown serum and jam it into his own neck.

Hiss~

The serum injected, veins bulged, his skin flushed red, and his eyes regained a flicker of clarity.

What kind of technique is this?

Lin Xian was stunned. A psychic? But even Ding Qing's men—including that woman—were all affected. This was clearly a suicide move.

After a moment, Ding Qing gritted his teeth in pain, his gaze icy as he fixed it on Lin Xian: "I know your psychic powers are strong. Don't worry—you won't die yet. When the giant parasitic louse's lantern flower core suffers a fatal strike, it releases a dark biological information toxin. It paralyzes the central nervous system and suppresses psychic abilities. The range is small, but it's enough to deal with you."

Lin Xian's expression shifted—he cursed inwardly. He hadn't expected such a tactic…

He and Kiki had moved instantly to disarm them, but Ding Qing had clearly pre-planned this—no distinction between friend or foe, all affected. He'd intended to trap them both.

Ding Qing used the exoskeleton's auxiliary program to stay upright and had set up an emergency protocol. Lin Xian guessed that even if he and Kiki had killed everyone the moment they entered, they'd still have been poisoned—the chemical plant's perimeter must have had hidden operatives waiting to clean up. This man was truly ruthless.

But he couldn't understand: how could someone willing to be a monster's clownfish be so reckless with his own life?

"You think we came alone?" Lin Xian said. "Doesn't matter." Ding Qing lifted his black long rifle, eyes fierce: "Didn't you already try last night? Could you escape Rain Town? Forget whether you can kill the giant louse—my men are still alive here, and none of them will let you succeed."

"You're insane," Kiki gasped, her breathing ragged, her condition dire. She gritted her teeth: "You treat monsters like guardian gods and slaughter humans—you're worse than the bandits!"

Kiki's words seemed to ignite Ding Qing. His face darkened, his temper flaring: "So what if I'm insane? So what if I'm a dog?"

He pointed toward Rain Town: "There are 257 people here. Besides our convoy's 66, there are 191 ordinary civilians. They just want to live—what crime have they committed?!"

Lin Xian sneered: "So the people you lured here—intentionally or not—to feed to the monster… they weren't ordinary, and they weren't innocent, right?"

"Enough talk!"

Ding Qing, fully enraged by Lin Xian's words, his face black with fury: "Once cursed by the night, you can't survive anywhere. If you're going to die anyway, why come back? Dying on the road is better than being skinned alive by that monster and turned into a vessel for a parasite—becoming a walking corpse!"

A breeze swept through, dispersing the mist. Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—several hidden minions lurking around the chemical plant rushed forward to reinforce.

Ding Qing saw this, took a deep breath, raised his long rifle, and looked at Lin Xian and Kiki. His eyes held a flicker of struggle and reluctance: "Sorry, young brother. Since you came back to be the sacrifice… don't blame anyone."

!

The motors of Ding Qing's source-powered exoskeleton roared to life, mechanical joints grinding—only he could use the exoskeleton to remain standing and balanced.

He hurled his long rifle straight at Lin Xian.

Swish!

A piercing shriek split the air, accompanied by a gust of wind—the black rifle flew like a black shuttle toward Lin Xian.

"Lin Xian!"

Kiki's face paled. She lunged in front of him, raising her hands to use her psychic power and catch the black rifle.

But her psychic power wouldn't respond. Despair surged through her. She closed her eyes, watching the rifle hurtle toward her.

Screech!

A sharp metallic clang exploded beside her, wind whipping her face.

No expected chest-piercing impact. Kiki opened her eyes, pale-faced—there, before her, the black rifle's engine hummed, frozen in place. A sudden mechanical arm had seized the tip, holding it immobile.

Squeak, .

On Lin Xian's right shoulder, the Genesis Industries HG-55 mechanical prosthetic, mounted on a fixed bracket, now acted like his third arm!

"What?!"

Ding Qing's eyes widened in shock—he hadn't reacted yet.

Taptaptap!

Outside the chemical plant, a hail of gunfire erupted. Simultaneously, a dark figure charged in, wielding a glowing electric blade, cutting straight through the reinforcements. Ding Qing's men had no time to react—bullets and blade flashes flashed like shadows, and they all collapsed, dead.

Lu Chang, Miao Lu.

After eliminating them, both rushed in. Lu Chang raised his hand and hurled the electric blade—it pierced straight through Ding Qing's chest before he could react.
