Chapter 1233 - 1241: Proud Girl of the Heavens
"Okay." Although Jane Sampson really wanted to know how James Black had been doing these past few days, and why he seemed overly tense, Old Master Black merely mentioned it in passing, so Jane knew it was a topic that shouldn’t be broached and thus refrained from asking further.
Old Master Black didn’t specify when James could return, which meant that even Old Master Black wasn’t sure of the timing of his return.
Thus, Jane spent that night lying in her room, calculating the earliest possible time James could return with her fingers.
The room where she and James were staying at the Black family home was James’s room before marriage, hence almost every corner was permeated with James’s presence and shadows, down to each decorative item, each book—all belonged to James.
Jane tried to figure out when James would return using her mobile phone, but instead, she ended up calculating till the Film Festival first.
As one of the leading actors of a nominated work, Jane needed to make an appearance on the big screen at the film festival, and after lunch that day, Lucy Brisk took her away to get styled. With a good figure and an elegant demeanor, Jane, meant to avoid overshadowing the female lead and the female supporting role, casually chose a white knee-length dress and paired it with silver high heels, managing to exude a professional aura.
She did not dominate the spotlight, but she wouldn’t reduce herself to an unnoticed passerby either.
The film festival began with an entrance on the red carpet, and Jane followed the film crew, marching in with a powerful aura as a group.
Although just a minor role, due to her own popularity, when the film crew appeared at the end of the red carpet, all the media focus promptly shifted towards them.
Jane walked the carpet with a locked smile, nearly doubting if she could keep it up, until she finally reached her seat with the director and others.
Inside, there was a big screen showing the red carpet outside, and once seated, Jane looked down at the big screen just like the others next to her.
This glance was quite a shock, as the three people on the big screen were acquaintances of hers.
On the screen, Gwendolyn Young in a black formal dress clung to the arm of her daughter, Jillian Carter, who was dressed in a similar black formal dress, walking the red carpet. Given Gwendolyn’s status, both the audiences inside and outside were fixated on the mother and daughter.
"Apparently, Gwendolyn Young’s daughter just came back from studying abroad internationally and seems interested in entering this circle," someone next to her started sharing the gossip about the mother and daughter with a familiar acquaintance.
Seeing Jane sitting there, the female lead from their same drama crew turned to Jane and said, "By the way, you have a good relationship with Senior Jillian, so you must have known about her and Ms. Young early on, right? Do you know this Jillian Carter?"
Someone nearby leaned in and added before Jane could reply, "A brother who is a powerful singer and independent musician with many resources, a mother who is a singer and artist—I remember correctly, Ms. Gwendolyn Young’s husband is quite a distinguished guard, right? This Jillian Carter really lives like a princess born to good fortune, possessing all the best conditions and resources. If she decides to debut, she could become famous very quickly."
