Chapter 663 - 671: Two Familiar Faces
"It’s also possible that by the time you come back, the JK advertisement will have already been released, and the publicity for ’I’m Not a Celebrity’ will have started," she continued. "Add to that the advertising from the previous two works, along with the premieres, and the number of scripts available for your selection on my table will increase. Other events will follow one after another, so enjoy this relatively slow pace of life for the next few days."
Rock Bell only let James Black and Jane Sampson talk in the ward for more than half an hour. After twelve o’clock, Rock Bell ordered takeaway on his mobile phone and then escorted James Black and Jane Sampson to the elevator doorway.
Jane Sampson put her mask, sunglasses, and hat back on after leaving the ward. While in the elevator, she hung onto James Black’s arm, turned her body, and made goofy faces at the mirror in the elevator through her sunglasses.
The elevator stopped on the fourth floor, Jane Sampson didn’t notice the number and was about to walk out when James Black timely pulled her back in.
"Jane Sampson, are you silly?" James Black asked with a voice barely concealing his amusement, seeing that no one was waiting outside the elevator, he presumed the person who had pressed it must have left by another elevator. He then closed the elevator door and wrapped his arm around Jane Sampson’s waist.
"I’m not silly; I just felt the elevator was stuffy and wanted to step out for a breath of fresh air before coming back in," Jane Sampson earnestly retorted. This time, the elevator stopped on the second floor. Jane Sampson specifically checked the number before turning to look at James Black and giggled. "The second floor is too low, the air is bad, I won’t go out for fresh air."
As if she was serious.
James Black curled the corner of his mouth and chuckled softly.
Four or five people entered the elevator, and James Black moved back two steps with Jane Sampson in his arms. Jane Sampson, focusing on the mirror inside the elevator, did not notice the people entering, and they almost completely obscured her from view.
However, James Black’s height allowed him to clearly see the faces of the people who had come in.
Among the five people who entered, two were familiar faces.
One was Julie Sampton; the other was Charlotte Miller, who had recently worked in the guard team base.
Charlotte Miller recognized James Black immediately upon entering; she looked towards the tall man inside with a hint of excitement and took the initiative to speak. "Hello," she said, her voice barely containing her excitement.
Charlotte Miller didn’t know the man’s name or surname, but she had heard from the black-face instructor that this seemingly young man was their Chief.
In the few days since she left the guard team, Charlotte Miller had tried to find out more about the young Chief through many connections, but due to her limited networking, she couldn’t get any information about the guard team.
She thought she might never get the chance to see him again, but unexpectedly, she ran into him now.
"Hmm," James Black responded indifferently to this stranger, devoid of any warmth. His detached ’hmm’ was overshadowing and perfunctory.
Julie Sampton had come with Charlotte Miller and heard her talking excitedly to someone. She turned her head curiously and to her surprise, she saw James Black’s indifferent face.
Julie Sampton glanced at Charlotte Miller who, albeit being a travel companion, had barely interacted with her all the way, and noted her excited and thrilled expression. After thinking for a moment, she called out, "Brother-in-law."
For Charlotte Miller, Julie Sampton’s "brother-in-law" was utterly bewildering. She almost doubted her ears, wondering if she had misheard, or if Julie Sampton called out "brother-in-law" to someone other than that young Chief.
