Chapter 890 - 898: I Can Eat for a Lifetime
She didn’t know when she fell asleep as she tossed and turned.
The next morning, Jane Sampson was awakened by the chirping sparrows outside the window. When she opened her eyes, James Black was no longer in the bed; she found him beside the dining table after leaving the bedroom.
"Go wash up, time for breakfast," James Black called out to the person standing near the bedroom door as he heard the sound.
Jane had just woken up, and he had already returned from his morning run, even bringing breakfast back with him.
Jane was revitalized by the fragrance of breakfast, letting out an excited cry as she ran toward James Black to confirm the aroma was right, then dashed back to the bathroom in the bedroom to wash up.
Listening to the lively noise behind him, James Black silently smiled and curled the corners of his mouth.
The dormitory only added one Jane Sampson, but every moment seemed somewhat different now.
In the past, when he was alone, the only sound accompanying him in the morning was the chirping birds outside; once she arrived, his ears were constantly filled with her voice, even noisier than the birds.
"Tomorrow morning, you can wake me up. I’ll go with you to the dining hall for breakfast," Jane said after sitting down, her eyes curving into crescents as she took the bowl and chopsticks from James Black’s hand, her laughter sounding even more cheerful.
"If you follow the team, you can eat whatever you want at the dining hall," James Black put a bun in her bowl, "It’s not hot anymore after the walk back."
"No matter how delicious the food is, eating it every day will get tiresome," Jane looked up at James Black with a giggle.
"Who told you that?" James retorted with a snort.
"It’s common sense, okay?" Jane declared matter-of-factly.
"I don’t agree," James’s gaze settled on Jane’s face, silently contemplating for two seconds before he spoke again, "You, I could eat for a lifetime."
After saying that, he bowed his head to eat his breakfast.
And Jane, with a mouthful of bun, didn’t know whether to swallow or spit it out.
Her fair cheeks gradually turned pink.
James Black, always shameless with a straight face!
Besides, such moments came without any warning, catching one off guard.
"I’m not food," Jane murmured softly, as faint as the buzz of a mosquito, before lowering her head to sip some peanut soup and swallow the bun in her mouth.
James raised his eyebrows slightly, earnestly countering, "You are,"
Then he added some peanut soup to Jane’s bowl and followed up with, "Very sweet."
Jane, almost reflexively, shook her head and responded to James, "Not at all! Today’s peanut soup has just the right amount of sugar. I don’t find it very sweet."
"Heh heh," James looked at Jane with a laugh without saying a word.
He was telling her she was very sweet.
After breakfast, James left the dormitory. He wasn’t worried at all about Jane being bored by herself. She was well-acquainted with the guard team’s base, and all the little bastards at the team base liked to crowd around her, so James didn’t think that being at the guard team meant boredom for Jane.
Before leaving, James suddenly remembered and turned back to Jane, "I’ll come back for lunch at noon."
After dropping the line, he swiftly closed the door and left without waiting for Jane’s response.
While Jane was still cleaning up the bowl and chopsticks in the kitchen, her mobile phone in her room suddenly rang. Jane hurriedly washed her hands, ran back to the bedroom, picked up the phone, glanced at the caller ID, hesitated for a few seconds, but still answered the call.
