Chapter 66: I Am the Master Here!

~7 min read 1,383 words

"I came, of course, to help you at Ji Shi Tang."

Yang Wencheng casually found a chair and sat down, a hint of Xu Wei's smile on his face.

"Help us? Yang Wencheng, stop playing the cat that pretends to mourn a mouse with false compassion!"

Hua Lao pointed at the doorway, his anger making his beard curl up.

"A while ago you cut off our medicine supply and let those old Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors spread rumors about Jiang Feng. Now you come pretending to be a good person—what are you thinking? Get out quickly! If you don't leave, I'll use a broom to drive you out!"

As he said, Hua Lao actually reached for the broom in the corner, but Hua Yingying hurriedly pulled him back.

"Grandpa, you're getting angry and harming your health! There's no need to clash with people like this!"

Hua Yingying frowned, glaring at Yang Wencheng.

"I think you're here to cause trouble; leave quickly, or I'll call the police!"

Yang Wencheng, however, was not flustered at all; he even leisurely took a folding fan from his pocket.

He lifted it and fanned a breeze, his eyes full of mockery.

"Calling the police? Miss Hua is still too young; if I didn't have some backing, would I dare come to Ji Shi Tang?"

He folded the fan back and pointed at Hua Lao.

"Hua Jing, let me tell you again, I'm here to help you. Think about it: Ji Shi Tang is open now, but medicine can only be sourced from the Provincial Capital; the freight is expensive, and supplies keep running out."

He paused, his tone carrying a hint of temptation.

"I can get the medicine merchants in Jiangcheng to resume supplying you, so we can cooperate and make money together, how about that?"

"Cooperate? Hell no, I won't work with someone like you!"

Having known him for so many years, Yang Wencheng knows exactly what kind of person he is.

Hua Lao, too lazy to listen to more of Yang Wencheng's nonsense, grabbed the broom and roared, "Get out quickly, you're not welcome here."

"Looks like you refuse the toast but drink the penalty."

"Since you don't appreciate the favor, don't blame me; however, the ones who should leave are probably you."

Hua Lao saw Yang Wencheng's expression, his face changing instantly: "What do you mean?"

Yang Wencheng leisurely took a neatly stacked sheet of paper from the inner pocket of his suit.

He handed the paper to Hua Lao, "Take a look yourself, what this is."

Hua Lao, puzzled, took the paper, unfolded it, and his complexion changed instantly; his fingers began to tremble.

The paper bore the bold heading Property Transfer Agreement; the transferor listed Hua Jing's name, and the transferee was shockingly Yang Wencheng!

At the bottom was a date, from half a year ago.

"This… this is impossible!"

Hua Lao's hand holding the agreement trembled, his voice pitched oddly.

"When did I ever sign such an agreement? Yang Wencheng, did you forge it!"

"Forgery? Old Hua, don't spew false accusations."

Yang Wencheng walked over and pointed at the signature on the agreement.

"Look closely, is this signature yours? And the fingerprint beside it, that's yours too, right? Half a year ago your Medical Hall was cash‑flow strapped, you borrowed 500,000 from me, agreeing that if you couldn't repay, you'd transfer Ji Shi Tang's property to me—did you forget?"

Hua Lao stared at the signature, a buzzing sound in his mind, slowly recalling the events from half a year ago.

At that time Ji Shi Tang happened to face a surge in medicine prices, and an old regular owed medical fees, leaving the shop unable to gather money even to purchase new medicine.

He was so anxious his mouth foamed, searching everywhere for loans, and finally, having no other choice, turned to Yang Wencheng.

Back then Yang Wencheng handed him a stack of documents to sign, saying it was just a loan procedure.

He was eager for the money, didn't examine closely, signed his name and placed his fingerprint, not expecting it to be a Property Transfer Agreement!

"You… you deceived me!"

Hua Lao trembled with anger.

"You said it was only a loan contract, never mentioned the property! Yang Wencheng, you swindler!"

"I didn't cheat you; you simply didn't look carefully."

Yang Wencheng spread his hands, a look of innocence on his face.

"The agreement states clearly: if the loan isn't repaid by its due date, the property belongs to me. Half a year has passed, you haven't returned a single cent of principal or interest; Ji Shi Tang has long since become mine."

He walked behind the counter, patted the medicine cabinet, his tone brimming with a victor's pride.

"So now, I am the master of Ji Shi Tang. Hua Jing, Jiang Feng, you should quickly pack up and leave, don't cause more trouble in my shop."

The agreement was, of course, forged by him, but the signature was indeed genuine.

That's why he had the confidence to come here.

Jiang Feng had remained silent; at this moment he finally stepped forward, took the agreement from Hua Lao's hand, and examined it closely.

The signature on the agreement was indeed Hua Lao's handwriting, the fingerprint clear, appearing flawless.

But he noticed that in the corner of the last page, there was a subtle alteration, as if added later.

"This agreement has a problem."

Jiang Feng pointed at that mark.

"The clause here was clearly added later, and when Hua Lao borrowed the loan, you didn't inform him about the property transfer; that's fraud, making the agreement invalid."

Yang Wencheng's complexion shifted slightly, then he sneered coldly again.

"Invalid? Jiang Feng, you'd be wasting your effort. I've had a lawyer review this agreement; it's legal and valid. If you don't believe it, we can go to court, and see which judge trusts whom."

He knew Hua Lao's family was modest, his son and daughter‑in‑law abroad, so he couldn't afford the time and money for a lawsuit.

As for Jiang Feng, a raw youngster just off the mountain, trying to overturn the agreement?

Hmph, that's just a dream.

Hua Yingying, seeing her grandfather looking despondent, rushed in front of Yang Wencheng.

"You've gone too far! Trying to swindle our Medical Hall with a Fake Agreement, you're literally dreaming!"

"Swindle? Yingying, I advise you to watch your words. I'm just acting according to the Agreement."

Yang Wencheng shrugged his shoulders and surveyed Hua Yingying from head to toe.

"Yingying, you're also someone I've watched grow up; the Medical Hall is now in my hands, you can still come over, Grandfather Yang can arrange for you to intern at our Medical Hall—won't it be more comfortable than those shabby hospitals in the Provincial Capital?"

Hua Yingying's eyes were full of disgust, "You're dreaming; I'd rather starve to death than work for a swindler like you."

"Just like your grandfather, you can't tell good from bad."

Yang Wencheng's expression changed slightly as he swept his large hand.

"You have three days to move out quickly, or I'll have people clear the place directly; then things will look bad for you."

After speaking, he glanced at Jiang Feng, his gaze full of Provocative Smile.

"Jiang Feng, I know you can fight and have some medical skill, but this is in the city, not in the Mountain, and we're talking about rules."

"If you dare make a move, I'll call the police, arrest you, and put you in a big cell!"

Jiang Feng looked at his arrogant demeanor, his face expressionless, and said lightly.

"Regarding the Agreement, we'll have a lawyer verify it. We'll give you an answer in three days, but until then you may not disturb the Medical Hall's operations."

"Yo, still want to find a lawyer?"

Yang Wencheng snorted.

"Fine, I'll give you three days. But I warn you, don't waste your effort; this Agreement you cannot overturn."

After speaking, Yang Wencheng swaggered away, and before leaving deliberately knocked the medicine basket at the doorway, scattering the medicinal herbs across the floor.

"You bastard!"

Hua Lao gasped, clutching his chest, his face pale.

Jiang Feng immediately supported the frail elder's body, watching Yang Wencheng's departing back, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
