Chapter 9: Encounter with Ning Fengzhi

Yang Lin warned Yang Xiong not to leak the information, planning to verify it himself before figuring out how to handle it.

In the following days, both Yang Lin and Sun Yu took leave to stay at home, and each bought several pieces of Ten-Thousand-Year Whale Glue.

In the present era, Whale Glue has no function beyond being an aphrodisiac; its price is not very high— even Ten-Thousand-Year Whale Glue costs only a few thousand Gold Soul Coins, which is not a lot for the Yang Family.

Yang Xiong attended classes as usual, but in the classroom Ning Rongrong seemed not to have told anyone about this matter, and her gaze toward Yang Xiong was always strange.

That evening after dinner, Yang Lin and Sun Yu appeared a bit nervous.

"Xiao Xiong, after the verification over these past few days, the Whale Glue indeed has very good effects. Your mother and I, after taking the Whale Glue according to your method, increased our soul power by one level, and our physical condition seems to have strengthened considerably; the circulation speed of soul power in our bodies also became much faster, especially your mother's improvement was even better than mine."

Yang Xiong smiled, "Dad, then we can take advantage of the fact that no one knows this secret now to buy more Whale Glue. It's still relatively cheap now; later we might not be able to afford it."

Yang Lin nodded, "I've already bought several pieces; they should be enough for you and your older brother to use in the future. Since you discovered this secret, I intend to report the Whale Glue secret to the Sect; do you need any reward?"

Yang Xiong thought for a moment before speaking, "Dad, when reporting to the Sect, could you say that you discovered this secret? I'm only eight years old, and it might easily cause misunderstandings among others."

Yang Lin shook his head, "Xiao Xiong, you still don't understand the Sect's survival rules. Within the Sect, it's not that they fear your good performance; rather they fear you being too low-key, especially since our Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect does not exclude any martial soul Soul Grandmaster."

"With a discovery like this today, the Sect will notice your talent and will likely give you focused cultivation in the future; for example, any good opportunity will first think of you. Keep in mind the Sect's resources are also limited."

"Moreover, this discovery is huge; I plan to secretly report it to the Sect Leader with you, and with our Sect's strict internal management, your information shouldn't be leaked."

Actually Yang Lin still had something left unsaid: Yang Xiong was the last among the first class to reach Level 10, which might lead people to think his cultivation talent is poor; if such a remarkable discovery emerges now, even the Sect Leader would likely take notice.

Yang Xiong then nodded; he had previously only thought of quietly cultivating, always assuming he could keep up with others, even surpass them, which was indeed a bit presumptuous.

The Inner Sect of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect is very close to Seven Treasures City, but the Sect's main Soul Grandmaster forces are basically concentrated in the Inner Sect.

The entire Inner Sect lies among mountains; the surrounding peaks serve as natural barriers, and the Inner Sect itself is a slightly smaller-looking city, yet both its height and defenses are extremely stringent.

In a hall, Ning Fengzhi and the Douluo Jian Shu and Gu Shu were sitting together, apparently discussing Ning Rongrong's affairs.

"Jian Shu, Gu Shu, I see Rong Rong has been performing quite well at school lately, and her soul power is improving rapidly; she truly is the most gifted disciple in the history of our Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda."

The Douluo Jian Shu and Douluo Gu Shu both nodded, clearly approving Ning Fengzhi's words.

Ning Fengzhi continued, "I think this class performed fairly well this time; after two years everyone has already become Soul Grandmasters, even the child whose martial soul is his own body performed decently."

Gu Shu said, "Innate Soul Power Level 6, reaching Level 10 after two years—that speed is already considered slow. Our Rong Rong is already close to Level 16."

Ning Fengzhi smiled, "The martial soul's quality is ultimately still too poor, but Lin Gong seems to favor this child, saying he not only ranks first academically but also loves reading, is extremely knowledgeable, and additionally this child especially enjoys physical training; purely in terms of physical condition, he is the best in the whole class."

"You all know Lin Gong is an old stubborn in teaching, with extremely high standards; otherwise I wouldn't have let him personally take charge of Rong Rong."

Gu Shu snorted coldly, "Putting the cart before the horse, Soul Grandmasters value soul power improvement, especially since childhood is the golden time for cultivation; wasting time like this is simply squandering one's talent."

Ning Fengzhi said nothing further, clearly also agreeing with Gu Shu's words, while Jian Shu kept his eyes narrowed throughout, seeming indifferent to any side matters.

At that moment, someone knocked from outside the door, "Reporting to the Sect Leader, Outer Sect Steward Yang Lin has arrived with his son Yang Xiong, saying he has important matters to report in person, and the matter concerns some secrets."

Ning Fengzhi replied calmly, "Let them come directly to the main hall."

Gu Shu was a bit puzzled, "Fengzhi, what important matters could an Outer Sect Steward discover? They could just report directly to the Outer Gate Elder."

Ning Fengzhi smiled, "Gu Shu, I've reviewed this family's information; several generations have stayed at our Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect's Outer Sect, so they are trustworthy, and they must have made some good discovery, otherwise they wouldn't dare come to me."

Yang Xiong, following his father Yang Lin under the guide of a person, quickly arrived in the main hall; besides the previously seen Jian Shu and Ning Fengzhi, there was an extremely tall man who looked unusually fierce with a prominent skeleton, who should be Gu Shu.

Among the three, Ning Fengzhi wore a smile and seemed quite warm, Jian Shu closed his eyes, ignoring the outside, and Gu Shu appeared somewhat unapproachable.

Yang Xiong followed his father in a bow, "I have seen the Sect Leader, I have seen Senior Douluo Jian Shu, I have seen Senior Douluo Gu Shu!"

Ning Fengzhi smiled and said, "No need for excessive courtesy; you, Yang Lin, and your family are also our own people of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect, so don't be too nervous."

"By the way, is there any particular matter you came here for this time?"

Yang Lin hurriedly said, "Reporting to the Sect Leader, we have recently made a huge discovery that may benefit the Sect, and it has now been recorded in detail."

After speaking, Yang Lin took out a sheet of paper that detailed the effects on the family after taking Whale Glue, and even included the method of consumption.

Gu Shu waved his hand, and the paper instantly arrived in Gu Shu's hand, but he didn't even look at it.

Ning Fengzhi looked at the paper's contents; initially he was relatively calm, but his expression grew increasingly serious, even showing a hint of surprise in his eyes.

"Yang Lin, have you personally verified that this method is feasible, and confirmed there are no side effects?"

Gu Shu beside him was unusually startled; Ning Fengzhi is usually steady and shows no emotion, so why does he suddenly seem a bit out of control?

Yang Lin appeared unusually serious, "Reporting to the Sect Leader, since the youngster discovered it, my wife and I have personally verified it, and so far there are no side effects."

Ning Fengzhi nodded, "Very good, I will have others confirm it; if it is indeed correct, this will be the greatest discovery of our Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect in nearly a hundred years, and you are also meritorious contributors of the Sect."

Today is the first day of the New Year; wishing everyone a Happy New Year, abundant wealth, constant smiles, and all wishes fulfilled.
