Chapter 428: Getting Ahead of Oneself (Leader Foucs Bonus Chapter ×2)
"It's likely a stomach spasm," Zhai Yuhan said in a low voice.
"Shall we take a look?" Ji Xiang insisted.
The two whispered to each other, while the Patient and the Family Member looked at the camera behind them, feeling somewhat bewildered, not knowing why such a strange creature as a camera crew existed behind the doctors in this ward.
"Since you insist, then take a look, and then just let the Patient go back to the Emergency Department for a 654-2 injection," Zhai Yuhan said, slightly impatient, but still patiently speaking to Ji Xiang.
She still gave Ji Xiang some face, not because of the presence of the Camera Crew, but because Ji Xiang had helped solve a difficult case with a patient.
Or perhaps it was that nonsensical remark made by Director Zheng of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Room that had influenced Zhai Yuhan's mind.
Zhai Yuhan couldn't quite figure Ji Xiang out; perhaps this young man wanted to "show off" in front of the Camera Crew.
Forget it, don't hold it against him, Zhai Yuhan thought magnanimously.
"Go to the dressing room, Doctor Ji Xiang will perform a physical examination on you," Zhai Yuhan said. "It was hurting just a moment ago, is it not hurting now?"
"Yes," the Patient also replied, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Go take a look."
Arriving at the dressing room, Ji Xiang took the Patient inside; Zhai Yuhan was uneasy, so she followed them into the dressing room and blocked the Camera Crew outside the door.
When it involves a physical examination, even if it's just the abdomen, the Camera Crew cannot be allowed in.
This is a matter of principle, and Zhai Yuhan did not budge. Fortunately, the Camera Crew also knew their place and had no intention of following them in to film. Seeing her blocking the entrance, they just stood outside the door and waited.
Closing the door, Zhai Yuhan watched quietly as Ji Xiang communicated with the Patient and performed the physical examination.
The Patient self-reported pain near the stomach area an hour ago, with unclear specific details, but it no longer hurt now. During the physical examination, there was no tenderness, rebound tenderness, muscle guarding, or other positive signs.
"Besides the pain, do you have any other sensations?" Ji Xiang asked while washing his hands after finishing the examination.
"I vomited once," the Patient replied. "After vomiting, I felt much more relaxed. I was also a bit scared because of the vomiting at the time, so I came here myself. Doctor, I'm sorry, I've caused you trouble."
The Patient felt no discomfort now, and she believed that she had just been moving too hurriedly, which caused stomach discomfort, and she felt better after vomiting.
Therefore, the Patient kept apologizing, as if she had done something wrong.
"What did you vomit? I didn't hear you say just now," Ji Xiang pressed.
"Gastric juice, I haven't eaten yet," the Patient said. "I had a date tonight, I finished work late, and I saw I didn't have enough time, so I ran a few steps. Maybe it was because I was too hurried when running, which caused my stomach to feel uncomfortable."
"Go to the Emergency Department for observation," Zhai Yuhan interrupted his questioning, seeing that Ji Xiang still wanted to ask more. "If it still hurts, the doctors in the Emergency Department will handle it for you. If it doesn't hurt anymore, observing for 2-3 hours is the safest."
"Okay, okay," the Patient nodded repeatedly.
"Should we get an Ultrasound or a CT scan?" Ji Xiang turned back to look at Zhai Yuhan, tentatively asking.
"Not necessary," Zhai Yuhan said decisively.
She felt that Ji Xiang's ability to climb up the pole was truly significant, and he was completely unreserved, already treating himself as a doctor from the Affiliated Hospital.
And a Chief Resident of the same rank as herself, at that.
Zhai Yuhan had exhausted all her patience and firmly rejected Ji Xiang's suggestion.
It was mainly because the Patient no longer felt any discomfort and the physical examination showed negative signs; why waste time on similar patients?
If the Patient spent money and had tests done but there was no diagnosis, there would always be a possibility of problems arising. The most crucial point was—the Patient should have gone to the Digestive Medicine Department, but came to the wrong door at the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department. Since it wasn't their own patient, she shouldn't meddle.
Ji Xiang smiled and didn't insist. "Then you two should listen to Teacher Zhai and go to the Emergency Department for observation. You must be careful, observe for at least 3-6 hours before deciding."
"Thank you, thank you," the Patient kept being polite, then left.
"Doctor Ji Xiang, for similar patients with negative physical examinations, if you perform more tests, it will cause dissatisfaction from the Patient and the Family Member, and you might even be complained about," Zhai Yuhan said to Ji Xiang after the Patient left, explaining the logic.
"Teacher Zhai, I always feel there is something wrong with the Patient," Ji Xiang scratched his head, communicating with Zhai Yuhan.
"What is wrong?" Zhai Yuhan asked dismissively.
"I can't quite say, I heard the Patient calling for a doctor so I went out and saw her hunched over. But the moment she saw me, she seemed to be fine, straightened her back and stood up; the Patient herself didn't know what was going on."
Zhai Yuhan was almost angered into laughing out loud.
"Doctor Ji Xiang, you don't think the Patient's illness was cured just by seeing you, do you?" Zhai Yuhan asked.
"It must be a coincidence, but the Patient suddenly stopped hurting..."
"Even if it were Acute Appendicitis and it suddenly suffered a Perforation, the Patient might feel the pain subside, but during a physical examination, there would still be tenderness, rebound tenderness, and even muscle guarding," Zhai Yuhan said.
"Yes, I was considering that too," Ji Xiang frowned and pondered.
Zhai Yuhan had no idea what was going on in Ji Xiang's mind.
The Patient no longer had any problems, and the medical history was very simple; after walking fast, a vagal reflex might have occurred, leading to nausea and abdominal pain, and the symptoms disappeared after vomiting once.
In Zhai Yuhan's view, the Patient could completely go home, drink some hot water, and sleep, and would be fine by tomorrow morning.
Ji Xiang was just being meddlesome.
If there were no cameras or Camera Crew, Zhai Yuhan would have properly taught this young doctor a lesson.
But under the lens, Zhai Yuhan still held her patience; she didn't want to waste more words with Ji Xiang and turned to go eat.
The Camera Crew had thought they had encountered an emergency and could record some footage of emergency rescue. Unfortunately, everything felt regrettable.
Fan Dao sighed; this segment would definitely be cut. If only there had been a real emergency, they could have recorded Doctor Zhai Yuhan and the Interns performing a rescue, and it would be best if Zhai Yuhan had been hot-tempered and scolded the Interns during the rescue—how great that would have been.
The highlight of the show was right there, but unfortunately, they didn't encounter it.
Returning to the Doctor's Office, Zhai Yuhan continued to eat. She barely swallowed a few mouthfuls of undercooked rice when she saw Ji Xiang take out his phone. "Teacher Zhai, I'm going to make a phone call."
"Make a call, to your family? Just make it here," Zhai Yuhan said.
"Uh..." Ji Xiang hesitated for a moment; he didn't make the call, nor did he go out, but instead put his phone away.
"After you finish eating, continue to familiarize yourselves with the Medical Records. You should all take a look at the few patients in our group. When the boss asks many questions during rounds tomorrow morning, if you can't answer them, the boss won't lose his temper in front of the patients, but you will definitely be scolded after returning."
"Will he scold people?" Zhao Mengmeng asked timidly.
She had always lacked presence, as if she were daydreaming.
"Of course. If you know nothing about your own patients, you tell me if the senior doctor will be angry. You tell me yourself." Zhai Yuhan's attitude had begun to become somewhat aggressive.
