Chapter 429: Just in Case
Zhai Yuhan finished her meal and returned to her Duty Room for a moment of quiet.
The presence of the Camera Crew had disrupted her normal life; although they hadn't admitted any serious patients, it had left Zhai Yuhan mentally exhausted. She did not like being in the spotlight, and becoming a star or anything of the sort was even more of a burden.
As for that little Intern who kept pushing his luck...
I'll test them myself in a moment, Zhai Yuhan decided.
Especially Ji Xiang; he accidentally "solved" a difficult patient case, and he really thinks he's a veteran Clinical doctor?
What a joke!
I don't believe his clinical fundamentals are so solid that he knows everything about a patient.
After resting for half an hour, Zhai Yuhan walked out of the Duty Room and came to the Doctor's Office.
In the office, only Zhao Mengmeng was "reading faces" at the computer screen, looking lonely and silly.
"Zhao Mengmeng, where is Ji Xiang?" Zhai Yuhan asked.
"Doctor Ji Xiang said he was worried, so he went to the Emergency Department to check on the patient from earlier," Zhao Mengmeng answered timidly.
Zhai Yuhan frowned. This kid Ji Xiang is an attention seeker; as long as there's a camera, he has to make a scene.
Isn't this just looking for trouble?
She then noticed that the Camera Crew had also left, making her even more certain of her guess.
Zhai Yuhan was a bit angry.
This is a hospital, not the recording set for Keep Running; you absolutely cannot just play around however you want!
"The Emergency Department?"
"Yes, Teacher Zhai, the Camera Crew followed him too," Zhao Mengmeng gave Zhai Yuhan a definitive answer.
Zhai Yuhan turned around in a huff and walked away, striding straight to the Emergency Department.
In the corridor of the Emergency Department, Zhai Yuhan saw Ji Xiang standing in front of the patient, seemingly saying something. The Camera Crew was at a distance, but they were filming.
This is just fooling people! Zhai Yuhan thought with disdain.
Recording material for an advanced individual? How did he learn these fake tricks at such a young age? Zhai Yuhan became increasingly unhappy.
She strode over and asked in a stern tone, "Doctor Ji Xiang, what are you doing?"
"Teacher Zhai is here," Ji Xiang turned around and gave Zhai Yuhan a warm smile, "I came to check on the patient from earlier."
"Is there a problem with the patient?" Zhai Yuhan sneered.
"The stomach started hurting. I just performed a physical exam; the patient has tenderness in the mid-abdomen, so I suggested the patient get a CT scan to check."
"What organs are in the mid-abdomen?" Zhai Yuhan asked coldly.
She knew the camera had followed her over, but Zhai Yuhan was not prepared to endure it anymore.
No matter how shitty Ji Xiang's temper was, no matter what he had done before, and no matter what shady deals the production team and the hospital had, within the scope of her ability, she certainly wouldn't let them mess around.
"Generally speaking, the mid-abdomen is the stomach area; one cannot rule out issues with the intestines," Ji Xiang replied.
He wasn't worried about the Camera Crew filming, but he didn't want the patient to hear and cause panic.
Zhai Yuhan sensed the meaning behind Ji Xiang's actions immediately, but she still asked with extreme displeasure, "Doctor Ji Xiang, are you implying Gallbladder Torsion?"
"It's possible," Ji Xiang answered like a veteran Doctor, "Intermittent abdominal pain, with obvious tenderness in the stomach area during pain; it is definitely Surgical Pain."
The Surgical Pain that Ji Xiang mentioned is a common clinical term.
Abdominal pain can be divided into two types: one is pain upon pressure, which is the Surgical Pain Ji Xiang mentioned, meaning there is inflammation or other diseases.
The other is when pain decreases upon pressure, where the patient presses hard on their stomach to feel a bit better. Similar situations are generally considered gastrointestinal spasms, which are Internal Medicine diseases; this situation is also called Prefer Pressure.
"Obvious tenderness in the stomach area?" Zhai Yuhan asked.
"Yes," Ji Xiang answered immediately, "In the stomach area and upper abdomen. The Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor prescribed an upper and mid-abdominal CT for the patient, but the patient doesn't want to do it, so I am currently working on the patient."
Zhai Yuhan was stunned for a moment. She didn't continue talking to Ji Xiang, but walked into the Emergency Department to consult with the Internal Medicine Doctor about the physical exam findings from earlier.
"Doctor Lin, what is going on with that patient at the entrance?" Zhai Yuhan asked immediately after the Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor finished seeing a patient.
"I should be asking you," the Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor said, "Who exactly is that young doctor? Is he new?"
"Our hospital set up a reality show..." Zhai Yuhan began to recount her bitter experience helplessly.
"Ah? A reality show doctor? I thought he was a new Doctor of Philosophy in your department. His level is quite high, and his physical exams and such are very proficient," the Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor said in confusion.
"He's just an undergraduate."
"His way of speaking and acting is very seasoned; he looks like a veteran Clinical doctor," the Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor gave a very high evaluation.
Zhai Yuhan still somewhat accepted the Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor's evaluation.
"Doctor Lin, have you seen that patient?"
"I have. There is tenderness in the stomach area, so first draw blood, then..."
As they were talking, Ji Xiang walked in, "Teacher Lin, hello."
The Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor looked at Ji Xiang with a smile, "Doctor Ji, have you convinced the patient?"
"Yes, the patient has agreed to get a CT scan to check," Ji Xiang answered with a smile.
"Doctor Ji Xiang," Zhai Yuhan's tone was serious, "Do you know what a Hollow Viscus is?"
A Hollow Viscus refers to organs like the stomach and intestines. For most of these organs, one needs to perform an Intestinal Endoscope for a separate examination; Ultrasound and CT cannot see subtle lesions unless a Malignant Tumor is large to a certain degree.
The patient's stomach area is uncomfortable, and Ji Xiang wants to give the patient a CT scan; to Zhai Yuhan, it sounds like nonsense. As for the gallbladder, that is even more absurd.
The Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor Lin was a bit surprised, but she asked gently, "What disease do you think it is?"
"I don't know."
The Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor Lin smiled, "Call the Family Member over."
"You got it!"
"Doctor Lin, are you preparing to order the examination?" Zhai Yuhan asked in surprise.
"Yes," the Emergency Internal Medicine Doctor Lin had already started the procedure.
"Why do you want to check a Fubu CT?"
"I suspect it might be Gallbladder Torsion. When I performed the physical examination, I felt it was a case for your department, and as it happens, you've arrived," Doctor Lin of the Emergency Internal Medicine said with a smile. "Although it's busy today, my luck is truly good. General Manager Zhai, get ready; I estimate we'll need to go to the operating table for an emergency."
Gallbladder Torsion!
Zhai Yuhan was speechless.
This disease is very rare; she had only seen one case.
If Ji Xiang had said it, Zhai Yuhan certainly wouldn't have believed it; but since Doctor Lin of the Emergency Internal Medicine said it so definitively and was already preparing to write the order, this caused Zhai Yuhan to fall into deep thought.
"Teacher Lin, the Family Member has arrived."
"Oh, do you agree to have the examination done?" Doctor Lin of the Emergency Internal Medicine asked.
"Doctor, what could the illness be?" the Family Member asked.
"The most likely scenario is that there is no problem, but I suggest you still have an examination done. Just in case—and I mean just in case—if a problem arises, we can discover it at the first opportunity, which would be of great benefit to you."
The Emergency Department doctor said "just in case" three times in a row, with a very heavy tone.
